THIRD PERSON POV After Kael had left Ravenna’s tent, she laid awake for a long time, her heart restless with thoughts she could not seem to quiet. She kept seeing the look on his voice and the way her voice had cut sharper than it should have when he tried to explain himself. And though part of her still felt wounded by his reaction, another part of her knew she had been unfair too. Even though Riven was Kael’s daughter, Zane had been by his side much longer than either of them. She should not have expected him to choose so quickly between them, to set aside the brotherhood with Zane for her and Riven in that instant. It wouldn’t have been fair. Still yet… Riven was his child, their child. That thought alone twisted inside her chest, making it hard to know what she felt anymore. Anger?
