We walked out of the office and Julien immediately turned to go towards the bedrooms that are now ours on the alpha floor. Our mother tried to reach out towards him, obviously feeling upset about how he reacted to the pact, but he just ignored her hand completely and went on his way to the stairs.
"Just give him some time," I told her. "He bought in to all of the fated mate stuff while we were with the vampires. It was one of the only things that made him feel connected to wolves, since vampires just pick whatever mate they want, usually."
