Training With The Royals

Mal POV “HE SAID WHAT?” My Uncle yells after I finish telling them about my life at Silver Moon. If looks could kill, Peter would be dead from this distance. Looking over at Ollie shows he feels the same as Uncle Nick. “Uncle, it’s fine. He will get what is coming to him when my announcement ceremony is held. He will be there with his father,” I say, trying to calm him down. It somewhat worked but not all the way. I have a feeling Aunt Lizza will be here soon because of his anger. Sure enough, there was a knock 2 minutes later. I walk over and open the door to see Aunt Lizza briefly as she rushes in and goes to Uncle Nick. Just a touch started to calm him and his wolf Cas. It’s a good thing too because I didn’t need him trying to bring the palace down to rubble. She looks around the room and gasps when her eyes land on me. “Mal? Is that you?” I smile and nod my head. “Yes, Aunt Lizza. I’m back.” She runs to me and wraps me in a hug while crying. I return the hug at full force. “I have been so worried about you. You don’t know how much we have missed you sweet pea,” she cries and hugs me tighter. She finally pulls back and looks at Uncle Nick. “Why were you so angry, my knight?” Uncle Nick looks at me and nods for me to tell her. After I explained it again, now she is the one about to choose destruction today. Gwen is just sitting back enjoying the show. Aunt Lizza is a 5’2'' brunette with blue eyes. Everyone knows not to piss her off. Uncle Nick always recites the saying “Dynamite comes in small packages.” In my head, Gwen starts to laugh at the site of my Uncle trying to calm her down. “Looks like a giant trying to calm an elf,” Gwen laughs. “Keep on and I’ll push you forward to handle it,” I reply with a laugh. “No thanks. I choose life,” she laughs and backs away. “Cheeky b***h,” I retort but manage to make her laugh harder. “I’m going to make that pup regret even thinking about putting a finger on her. Of all the things..” Aunt Lizza is cut off by my uncle capturing her lips with his. She visibly relaxes and Ollie makes a gagging noise while pretending to dry heave. After all this time he hasn’t gotten used to it. I laugh and he shoots me a glare. “You better, my love?” My uncle still has her in his arms but she looks better. She nods her head and steps out of his arms. “Are you starting training tomorrow?” she asks me. “Yes, I am. Hannah and Bryce are as well. Ollie, are you going to be there tomorrow?” I look at Ollie who is still looking disturbed by his parents' PDA. “Yes, we are. Emma and I will have to leave after to go back to Blood Hollow,” he says standing from the couch. “Why are you at Blood Hollow and not here shadowing Uncle Nick for Beta?” That’s weird. He’s supposed to become my Beta when I take over. “Alpha Alexander needed a temporary Beta until the old Beta's son comes of age. Sadly, the old Beta was killed in an attack.” Ollie states. “How old is his son?” Hopefully not too young or I will have to deal with raging Bull over here. “He will be 19 a few weeks after you. He’s excited to be Beta and follow in his father's footsteps,” Ollie says. I can tell he is proud of the boy just by the look in his eyes. “I hope to meet him one day. Now, I need to get ready for bed so be gone you lot.” I wave my hands for them to leave. They laugh and hug me goodnight. After they leave, I go down the passage to my room. I get a quick shower and climb into bed. Tomorrow is going to be fun. * * * 4:30 AM Beep! Beep! Beep! Ugh! Why did I bring that infernal contraption? I finally find it to turn it off. I’m seriously considering it to “accidentally” fall off the balcony. That’s not a bad idea actually.. Nah! Anita wouldn’t believe that. I get a quick shower to wake up and put my training clothes on. It consists of a sports bra, leggings, and sneakers. My hair goes up into a messy bun and absolutely no makeup. I don’t see why she-wolves think it’s fine to wear make-up to training because they look like drowned raccoons afterward. I make my way down to get breakfast. Before training, I eat an apple or pear. Eating heavy foods would end in disaster. Hannah, Bryce, Ollie, and Emma were already at a table and saved me a seat. Seems we all had the same idea on the fruit. Bryce however has a cup of coffee. I always wait until after training to get a cup. After everyone is done we head to the training field. As we get there I notice an obstacle course to the far left and disappears into the trees. On our far right is the shooting range. In the middle are fighting rings and an area for everyone to warm up. Ollie leads us up to a man standing in front of the people warming up that was already here. “George! Good to see you again,” Ollie says to him. The man turns around and shakes Ollie’s hand then notices us behind him. “Good to see you too, Oliver. Who do you have with you?” I see him looking skeptical at Hannah and me. I’m starting to think he is one of those males that doesn’t think women should train. “Well you know Emma already. This is Bryce, Hannah, and my cousin Mal. They are here to train and join the Royal Army.” Ollie looks at George after he says this. “You ladies do know that we do not have any female soldiers? So far none has gotten through the trials.” George says smugly. “Maybe but the ones who will pass just arrived. Don’t judge a book by its cover, George. We may be small but we are strong and fierce.” As the words come from my mouth, his smile drops to a frown. “We will see, little missy. Don’t go running to mommy and daddy when you get scared of the guys. Also, don’t come crying to me if you get hurt,” George states and turns to the group to get ready to start. “Oh no he did not! Let me out, Mal. I’ll kick his ass and show him who should be scared,” Gwen growls in my head. “No, Gwen. Not yet. We have to talk to Dad and see when we can let you out. We don’t want to take any chances,” I tell her. I feel her mood lighten drastically at the thought of getting to be let out in something other than a bunker. If she wanted to run, I had to go and use the oversized treadmill that Alpha Fredrick got us so we wouldn’t be seen. “Listen up guys! We have some new recruits. Welcome Bryce, Hannah, and Mal. They have been informed that we do not go easy on anyone. If everyone is warmed up then start the 10-mile run,” George booms across the field. Even though he worded it differently to sound welcoming, I heard the threat. He wants them to make us quit. I look at Hannah and she sends me a wink. “Let’s show them what us girls can do!” She linked me. With a wink back we take off on the 10-mile warmup. Hannah’s father is a retired Royal Army soldier. She has been trained since she could walk and was the best female warrior in Silver Moon. As we run we end up passing everyone else and we hear grunts of irritation. There are some that seem to be impressed. George is at the front with another man who is slightly taller and well-built. He has shaggy blonde hair with blue eyes and is looking like he is beyond pissed. We finish the 10 miles with Hannah and me finishing first. We high-five each other with smiles then hear a loud growl. Turning around, blonde guy is storming our way with George in tow. “How were you able to pass everyone including me? It should be impossible being I’m the head warrior and trainer which is given to the best warrior,” he fumes before stopping two feet away from us. Anger is coming off him in waves but no fear is coming from Hannah or me. This just makes his anger worse. “If that was your best then you need to do a revaluation of everyone. We were not even trying and still passed everyone,” I state with confidence. He takes another step until he is toe to toe with me. Leaning so he is about an inch from my face, I see Hannah and Bryce go to intervene but I hold my hand up to stop them. “Ok, Ms. Know-it-all. You, me, in the ring, NOW!” He turns and gets into the fighting ring. I look at Hannah and she mouths “Kick his ass” while Bryce mouths “Show him who’s boss.” Hopping into the ring, blondie takes his shirt off. He has a six-pack and is not too bad-looking. What? I’m a girl and I can appreciate a nice body. Anyway, George yells “GO” and we start to circle each other. Looking for each other’s weaknesses. Looking for any signs to look for. He lunges at me when I see it. He plants his foot and slightly twitches his arm on the side he’s going to use. I duck out of the way and he falls to the floor. Getting up he tried to do it again and again. After a couple more of his attempts, he starts to fight on emotion instead of smarts. “Let’s finish this, Mal. I’m getting bored of this one-sided tango,” Gwen pipes up while holding her paw up like she’s inspecting her claws. Blondie runs at me with claws out going for my throat. I sidestep and punch him in the stomach. As he hunches over in pain, I swing my foot out and kick the back of his knees. As he goes down I put him in a choke hold and wrap my legs around his torso. I wait until he taps out to let go and get up. Reaching down, I help blondie up from the dirt. I turn to walk off when I’m stopped by a hand on my shoulder. Turning around, the hand belongs to blondie. “Wait. I just want to say sorry about my actions. It was uncalled for and not sportsmanlike. My name is Bruce,” Bruce says looking sheepish. “It’s ok, Bruce. Where I came from would never apologize for the things they did. You are forgiven and I hope we can become friends,” I say with a smile. I understand his anger. He was supposed to be the best and got beat by two girls. He smiles but then frowns looking mad. “What do you mean by ‘what they did’?” “That’s a story for another time. Let’s finish up this last hour of training then go get some food,” I tell him. I don’t want to tell anyone other than my family what happened to me. A week and a half goes by with me and Bruce partnering up for training. I have been training every morning and evening. All the training is starting to pay off because I feel myself getting stronger and faster. Today I’m training with a new recruit that started the day before me. I don’t know his name just yet but this boy has some anger issues. We finish up training but at the last few minutes, something happened. The guy that I just sparred with got mad because I won came at me while I was walking over to Hannah and Bryce. I sensed him at the last minute and turned and grabbed him by the throat but he was able to claw my stomach. George grabs the boy and hauls him off and the next thing I know, Bruce is rushing me to the pack hospital.
