Kara had met her friends outside school. Kai stood with his friends looking over at her. 'So, did you talk to your Cuz Kai?''I did.' ‘So what did she say?' 'Not much, just what I suspected. Kara and her had talked before she began here. She said a lot actually about why she came here and she wasn't sorry about what happened.''What actually happened?' 'I'm not sure, but I'm sure as hell going to find out.' 'Good luck with that, if you cuz aint saying anything she sure as hell wont.' 'She sent me this too.' Kai removed his mobile out of his pocket. He unlocked it by swiping through his photos. They were both smiling, arms around each other. 'Your cuz looks hot.' 'Don’t go there Jed.' 'She's in L.A. Kai, why would I tempt fate? I'm not dumb Kai, I know how protective you are over her.''There's more. She said they'd taken the last day of school before Kara left to come over here.''She must be desperate or insane to come here.'‘All I know was that she was expelled. I didn't get any other details she didn't wish to share them with me. She reckoned it was up to me to find out why.‘So what are you guys doing?' Sebastian asked, approaching them.‘Kai's got some more photos of Kara.' 'Are you going to share?" ‘Why are you so interested?’ 'Come on Kai, we're all friends and, besides, Jed has seen them, so why can't I?' ‘Fine.' He huffed, passing the phone to Sebastian. He took it off him, scrolling through them smiling.'Wipe that Cheshire off your mush Seb its not like you aint seen a girl before.''I know, she just looks so happy I can't understand why she's here.''Well... that's exactly what I’m going to find out.''Just be subtle Kai don't forget Tara. where is he any way?' 'She'll be in later.' ‘She's getting good at that.' 'I know." Kara and her friends walked into the school. Jed nudged Kai. 'Now's your chance.' He looked over at her, but he wasn't the only one. 'He's looking at you again Kara.' ‘Who?' ‘Kai.' ‘Oh.' 'Just ignore him and carry on walking.' He wolf whistled and she ignored him.'Hey chick, you speak, don't you?' She turned abruptly, that was her first mistake. 'No Kara didn't give him any eye contact.' That was her second mistake. 'What do you want?’ Confrontation, her third. 'Mmh feisty I like it.' She stood shocked as her friends tried to pull her away. 'Come on Kara, the bell's about to go.' 'Join me for lunch.' ‘I dont think so.' She said as the bell rang. Her friends pulled her away. No one turned him down.'What the hell Kara, you crazy b***h, never confront him, never say no to an invitation unless you want to be six feet under.' 'I'll remember that for future preference.' 'Come on, let's get to registration.' They all walked away going into their different classes for registration. Jaie told her she'd see her in history before she left her. Kara walked alone after registration, trying to find her history class on the second day and she was already lost. As she collided with him, she looked at him. His dark curtained hair hung over his dark un-revealing eyes. 'I'm sorry I didn't see you.' Kai looked at her through the slits of his overgrown hair, answering her. 'No probs, you lost?’ 'Could say that. I'm trying to find 247a.' 'I'll show you. Follow me.' He said, smiling. She returned his smile as they continued down the corridor.'You're new, right?' 'Yeah it's only my second day and I'm lost.' He smiled. 'Not to worry, we all get lost, it takes a while to get used to this dump, but you will trust me.’ She smiled. 'So where are you from originally?' ‘L.A.' 'Nice... so what's a nice chick like you doing in a s**t hole like this? When you've sun, sea and sand?’ ‘Well, s**t happens.' 'It does.' He looked at her. 'Well, here we are.' 'Thanks.' 'The offer of lunch still stands.' 'Another time maybe.''I'll hold you to that.'She smiled.'I'll catch ya laterz maybe.''Maybe.' She smiled before entering her lesson. 'Glad you could make it, Miss. Darlington.' 'Sorry miss I got lost.' 'That's fine. Take a seat.' Kara walked down the aisles perched between the tables, spotting Jaie, making her way over to her sitting next to her. She looked at Kara. 'He found you, didn't he?' ‘Who?' ‘Kai.' 'Who?' ‘The guy we warned you about yesterday, the same guy who you didn't back down from.' 'Yeah he did. He showed me where the room was.' ‘Did he ask you any questions?' ‘A few why? ''Don't let him know too much, Kara, or you'll end up just like them.' 'I won't.' The bell rang and they went to their next lesson, then Kara and Jaie met up with Kaz and Maddy going outside to the meeting ground.Kai and Sebatstian looked over at Kara, Jaie and their friends. 'Who the hell are you staring at?' He looked at the hard-faced girl standing in between the three guys almost built the same. 'No one.' She looked directly at Kara. 'Oh shit.' 'What is it?' 'She's gunning for you.' 'Who is?'’Tara. That's Tara.' Kara looked over at the rough looking girl like a thorn between many. Cause they certainly weren't roses. 'That's his girlfriend?' 'Yeah. I told you she wasn't a pretty sight. She's definitely gunning for you, Kara.' 'Why?' 'One word, Kai.' 'He's looking at you, Kara, and he's not the only one.' 'I'm not interested.' ‘You don't have to be for him to be interested, Kara. Just stay clear of him.' The bell rang. "Come on babe, let's split.' He said, placing his arm over her shoulders. They all walked away. Kara made eye contact with him. He winked at her, turning back and continuing to go into the large building. ‘Come on Kara, we have a lesson to get to.' They all walked away going to, lesson before lunch.'You need to be more careful, Kai,' Jed said, lowering his voice. 'You know Tara better than any of us and that was the stare of death, just watch what you're doing around her okay.' 'I, will.' After lunch, Kai wished she'd had taken him up on his invite, though it would be a pretty bad idea with Tara around he'd do anything for a change. Maybe he could get her alone and get her to spend sometime with him so he could get to know her and make her think he wasn't as bad as everyone made him out to be. Kara walked alone after her lesson to the final lesson of the day. Her new friends had lessons with her til now, and she had no idea that some of the year elevens were having lessons where she was. Sebastian looked at her and smiled. She returned his smile when going into class. The bell rang for the end of the day. She packed her stuff up and the teacher let them go row by row. Sebastian stood waiting outside her geography room. He looked at her as she walked out. 'Kara.' She looked over at him. 'How do you know my name? ''Good news travels fast.' 'I guess.' 'So.. are you walking home with your friends?' 'I dont think so.'' "Good.' he smiled. She looked at him. 'Oh where's my manners, Sebastian or Seb. I'm a friend of Kai's.' ‘So he's got you spying on me now?' 'No I just wanted to introduce myself to you.' 'Why? so you could go runnnig back to the big boss man?" 'No.' ‘What then?' 'So I could ask you if you'd like to hang.' 'I don't think that’s a good idea.' ‘Why not?' 'You're friend .' 'He's cool trust me.' 'You get to do all of his dirty work, till he decides whether people are worthy or not?' 'No. Come on, I'll walk with you and we can chat.' "I can't, I'm sorry.' ‘I thought you said you were walking alone?' 'Maybe, and even if I weren't, I wouldn't walk with you just so you could grind me.' 'I wont come on Kara. I'd like to get to know you.''So you can report back to Kai?' 'No. Gee, you're hard work. I like you okay, I just want to get to know you.' ‘Fine, whatever.' He smiled. 'Come on then.' They walked together out of school. 'So tell me Kara, what brings you to this s**t hole anyway. I'm sure wherever you were before was better than here. Right?' 'I guess. My mom got a new job, a better job, so we moved.' "Big step aint it? Your accent, you're American, right?' 'Yeah L.A.' ‘Cool, I'd like to go there one day.' 'Maybe you will if you work hard, or you could always try asking your parents to take you.' 'They wont. I tried the typical bullshit of finances.'‘Guess youll have to wait, wont you?' 'Guess I will... Maybe we can go together when school ends.' She looked at him, his smile swooshed across his face. She returned his smile nervously. 'I'd like to be friends Kara, maybe more.' 'What about Kai?' ‘What about him?' ‘I thought...' 'He has Tara. He's just looking for someone to join us.' ‘I'm not like you.' 'Not what he thinks.' 'I'm not.' 'So can I see you again?' 'I dont know Seb. I'd rather just do high school without complications.' "Am I a complication?' ‘All boys are.' 'I wont be, I promise.' He leaned forward, she stood nervously as he pressed his lips on hers, kissing her, moving away. 'We'll do something this weekend, okay.' 'What about your friends?' 'They'll be cool. I can see them later, so Saturday?' She smiled. 'I had best go Seb.' 'Sure.' He smiled. 'Later Kara.' She walked away, leaving him smiling.'So was that the new chick?' His smile faded as he looked at Jed. 'It was.' 'Kai will kill you.''He has Tara, he doesn't need two. I like her.' 'Tred carefully Seb.' 'I will.' 'Later bro.' "Yeah later.'Jed walked away. Seb turned the next corner.
