The marriage
Alina
Today was the day, all my dreams would die. I would be a trophy in someone's shelf and nothing else. "Is this okay" said Maya breaking me from my chain of thoughts, showing me another one of a thousand tiara. "You choose" I said. Though I loved jewels, they were my weakness. Today i had no interest. I was not interested in anything as a matter of fact. All I could think was that I was about to halfway across the world,to a country where women were nothing but a symbol of a man's power. The richer and prettier the wife or wives the more powerful the man. "I wish I didn't have to go through today Maya" I wanted to go to the alter and kill that bastard. But this marriage or alliance was the only thing stopping him from attacking the kingdom of Emar. So my freedom was being traded for peace in our country. What a fair trade. I never imagined getting married like this at 18 to someone who was already married twice. Maya was quiet, what could she say to make me feel better. There was nothing anyone Could do or say to make me feel better. "Are you ready Alina" said my mother coming to my chamber. "you look really pretty". I did,I was wearing a red gown embedded with rubies and my head covered in an astonishingly beautiful red stall as his culture demanded brides to look. I was not even supposed to be ready accordimg to my own culture. "I am sorry it is this way I wish we could have done something" said my father. "It's not your fault papa, this is how it was supposedto be" I said reassuring my father. My father was the most progressive man the entire empire had seen. The day I was born he declared I would be the queen of Emar instead of Sachin my brother. But alsa the empire was not ready for a queen in any of its kingdoms. And fate had other or no plans for me. "I am ready for this" I lied. My father took my arm and we walked to the alter.
