Chapter 5 It wasn’t quite midnight when I rang the doorbell. The door was opened by a young girl in cream-colored shirt and khaki slacks. It might have been the same one as Thursday, but I wasn’t certain. “Good evening, Ms. Flynn. Please come right this way.” She led me to a door off to the left, not the one to the right where I’d gone on Thursday. She opened the door into a charming living room. Janet was sitting on the couch reading. When she saw me enter, she put the book aside and stood to greet me. “Shelby,” she sighed as if she was relieved. She looked stunning in her dark blue floor-length dressing gown. “I’m so glad you’re here. I was afraid you wouldn’t come.” She looked at the girl and nodded.
