Gina I woke up before my alarm. For a few seconds, I lay there staring at the ceiling while Lilo snored beside my pillow, one little paw stretched across my shoulder like she was afraid I’d disappear if she let go. “I wish I had your life,” I whispered, scratching behind her ears. She opened one eye, yawned dramatically, then immediately fell back asleep. Lucky dog. My mind, on the other hand, refused to shut off. Natalie. The presentation. The anonymous message in my folder.
