By the time I pulled into my apartment complex, my head was pounding.
I shut the car off but didn’t get out right away. Instead, I rested my forehead against the steering wheel and let out a long sigh.

Watching her stand in the middle of the lobby like she owned the place while everyone stopped to watch the drama unfold had been humiliating—not because she’d embarrassed me, but because she’d reminded me that Zander’s life wasn’t simple.
