Instead, I rested my forehead against the steering wheel and let out a long sigh. What a day. Natalie showing up at Preston Enterprises had been bad enough. Watching her stand in the middle of the lobby like she owned the place while everyone stopped to watch the drama unfold had been humiliating—not because she’d embarrassed me, but because she’d reminded me that Zander’s life wasn’t simple. Neither was mine anymore. I wasn’t just the switchboard operator with dreams of becoming a merchandiser. Now I was somehow wrapped up in the personal life of the CEO. The thought alone was enough to make me groan. “Please let tomorrow be boring,” I muttered.
