I didn't know what to say or even do at this news. I am going to be a grandfather and this is happening all too soon. This is just too soon.
"Mariko!" Maddie laughed at me as she got a napkin and cleaned the counter of the water that I had just spat out onto it.
"I mean-I guess congratulations to you and your girlfriend. This is so sudden and I am a bit young to be a grandfather," I said. Both Maddie and Bradley laughed at me as if it was a joke. I was serious about it, wrapping my head around it. I may not be happy about this because of my age and being called "grandpa" so soon but it is still a life that is precious.
