CHAPTER 1

Deianira

Cold, Freezing chills that ache my bones. Ivory as far as my eyes could see. Thats what I remember when I try to think back to before I was found. I can only remember the snow. The two figures coming into my line of sight as I lose consciousness. Tarkik and his father Yutu rescued me and brought me to their village where till this day I have lived. The maritimus village. They have been kind to me. A couple adopted me shortly after they lost their daughter Koko to an illness. Alasie my mother is as wise and as kind as any women I have ever known. My father Nanook is the chiefs enforcer, he has taught me to defend myself against man and beast alike. Even though I stick out from the crowd with my sapphire hair and mismatched eyes I was never singled out or made fun of. Everyone in the tribe has always been like family to me. My best friend Apaay and I do everything together. Well with Tarkik right along with us of course. He has been my everything since the day him and his father saved me from frostbite. I think he may even be my fated mate. We won't find out until our next birthdays when we turn 18. The chief and his wife Ahnah have a celebration planned for Tarkiks birthday. I believe the biggest surprise for us both is what I am secretly hoping for, us to be the other halves of one another.
