He Has Done It

Alexander The news of Nathan and Anika engaged is still circulating around the city. The thought of Marie getting caught up with all of this got me worried. In which I shouldn't be. We're not even close. I'm getting pissed with Nathan and his 'Ignore Alex' idea. Its really unlikely of him not talking to me. Yeah we fight and ignore each other before, but not like this that I don't hear anything from him. Was he living under a rock or what. He's really frustrating the crap out of me. At the end of the day, I decided to pay that little fucker a visit. I grabbed my coat, wallet and keys. I went out of my office and turn to my secretary, Janice. "I'll be leaving early. Cancel all my appointments. If there is any." I said and left. I drove towards Nathan's office, but his secretary told me that Nathan haven't been to his office for a month after filling a business leave. That's very unlikely of him. Was he still that determine to gather investors to save their company? I decided to drive towards his penthouse. His housekeeper Cecil, is the only one inside the apartment. She said she hasn't see Nathan for almost a month. I marched towards Nathan's room. Once I opened the door to his room, everything seems to be in order. I walked towards his closet. All of his business suits were neatly hanged in its closet. But his sweats, shirts and normal clothes were all missing. I looked around more, and noticed that his duffel bag is missing. I opened his safe which I know the combination, because I'm just that great. Just as I thought, his bank books from his secret bank account is missing. I let out an audible sigh before closing the safe. That little fucker just left. I rub my palm on my face before i decided to pay little Marie a visit. I drove towards the coffeeshop where she works as a waitress. As I arrived there and asked for Marie, I'm not surprised to learn that she also filed a vacation leave. I don't need to go to her apartment to confirm my suspicions. Those two just eloped! I rubbed my temple. Such stupid move Nathan, I thought. Once I was outside the coffeeshop, I pulled my phone from my pocket and called my family's trusted private investigator. Damian Castro. He's also a close friend of mine, given we grew up together. He picked up on the third ring. "I need you to find someone." I said. "Who?" "Nathan Mc-f*****g-Pearson." I said through gritted teeth. The person on the other line, chuckled. "What did he do this time? Escaped and playing hide and seek from his mommy dearest?" He asked. "Yes." I grumbled. He laughed again. "Little Nathan finally grew some balls. Jet has done it? I assume little Marie is missing as well?" When I didn't answer, I heard him sigh. "I'll look into it, and get back to you. ASAP." He said. "Thank you. And this is confidential." I told him. "Copy that." He said before hanging up. I placed my phone back to my pocket before leaving. ···························· Two days have passed and I have Damian standing in my office. "So, what did you find out?" I asked. Damian hand me a brown envelope. I opened it pulled out several photos. Photos of Nathan working in a office that looks like a bank to me. He sat behind a small desk. Too small compared to the one in his office. The other photos shows Marie inside a small bookshop. By the looks of it, she works as a cashier. But the bright smile on her face tells me that she's enjoying her job. Other photos were of Marie and Nathan having a cup of coffee on the porch of a small cottage like house. The house look small but homey. The two looked so happy and in love. The way Nathan looked at Marie says it all. She's his world. "Where are they?" I asked. "In a small town somewhere in Maine. Nathan works at a small bank as a clerk and little Marie works as a cashier in a bookshop." Damian said. "They eloped just to play house." I grumbled. "If I didn't know better, I say you are jealous." I heard Damian say. I glared his way. "Why would I be jealous.? That girl is nothing to me but a nuisance." I exclaimed. Damian raised both his hands to surrender. "I didn't say anything about Marie. I just mean you are jealous of the freedom Nathan has now." He explained. I mentally slap myself for overreacting. I cleared my throat trying to ease my embarrassment. "I know that." "Yeah right" Damian said rolling his eyes. "Is there anything else?" He asked. "Not at the moment. I'll give you a call if ever. Thank you." I told him. "I'll send you the bill Salvatore." Damian said before walking out of my office. I sighed, leaning back on my chair. I looked at the photos again. Am I really jealous of Nathan right now?
