PERSEPHONE. Mother, will you truly trust the word of someone who can only see what happens on the outside, but has no clue about the internal storms that a simple glance can provoke? I saw him, Mother. I always saw him. I saw him lurking in the shadows, fearing to get too close. Fearing to get close enough to make me flee. Fearing that his love would be so great, it would end up suffocating me. I tempted him, Mother. I made him writhe with desire to have me. I played my cards. I pretended to be shy; I pretended not to know he was there. I smiled. My smile was like a siren's song to his lonely soul. He saw mine, fell in love with my body, and was devoured by my mind. He was mine in the blink of an eye. He offered me half of his kingdom because I wanted it. I loved him, Mother. I loved the fire in his eyes and the ice in his veins. I loved the way he knelt before me, just for me, to worship me as his queen. I loved the softness of his black hair tangled in my fingers as he rested his head on my lap, begging for mercy. Mother, will you ever understand? I was never scared, I wasn't abducted or deceived, Mother. I went to him willingly. I did it because it only took his icy gaze to seal my fate. Why do you think I would choose to be a mere maiden when I could be a queen? His queen. So, do you still think I fell into a trap to eat the pomegranate seeds? No, mother. Hearing the whisper of his lips telling me that now he belonged to the Underworld; that he belonged to the darkness and that he belonged to him after swallowing the last seed, made me feel complete for the first time. Don't worry, Mother, I know this will probably end badly, that the ice in his veins will eventually freeze my warm heart, that a being like him was not made to be tamed; but that doesn't stop me from wanting to get closer just a little bit more...
