I can’t imagine spending a minute longer than we need to under your controlling thumb!
My last words to Dominic before the attack blared in my mind. Consciousness gently prodded at my mind, like it was apologetic for taking me away from the peace of sleep.
My skin was tugged on my back, and I took in a sharp breath at the pressure.
“Sorry,” Dominic’s low voice murmured somewhere in the world of the awake. “It’s been twenty-four hours, so we have to change the bandage. I’m trying to do it as gently as possible.”
The tugging continued, but this time I could feel Dominic’s care as he removed the bandage applied in the hospital.
Opening my eyes, I found myself on my stomach in my bed. I was topless, but the sheets were arranged beneath me to maintain as much modesty as possible.
