15. He asked me out

1620 Words
"There is nothing more beautiful than the soul of a woman whose love is so pure." -Her Black Canvas. "Guess what?" Alexis comes yelling towards us. She was dressed for the occasion, valentine's day. She wore a long sleeve red dress covering her up to her mid thigh, hugging her curves. To say she looks pretty would be an understatement. I slam my locker shut before smiling, "what?" She turns to look at Alec expectantly, her red lips pouting, "don't you want to know?" Alec shrugs in reply,"i'm pretty sure it's going to be boring anyway." She frowns but didn't let Alec's rude reply faze her. "He asked me out!" She announces excitedly. I give her a confused look, "who?" "Gabriel!" My confusion just seems to increase at this. "Who is he?" "The guy I asked for his number at the mall," she explains to me slowly. And then it finally registers, how can I forget that day? The day I actually tried to ask a guy for his number. A guy who is way out of my league, might I add. "That's great!" I exclaim excitedly, grinning widely as I held her hand, jumping up and down with her. She stops suddenly, giving me a teasing look, which only made me quirk an eyebrow at her. "What?" "Soo, did you get a date?" She asks me, pulling the 'soo'. I give her a look, "does it look like I have a date? I told you before and i'm telling you this now, I don't have a date and I never had one nor do I think i'll ever have one in the near future." "But-" Alexis starts but was cut off by Alec who wore a shock expression as he exclaims this,"you never went on a date on valentine's before?!" "Not even on a normal day," I answer him, earning a gasp from him. He holds his heart as if he had been pierced by a sword. I roll my eyes at his reaction, "it's not much of a big deal, really." "Much of a big deal? You have to experience being loved!" Alec protests, blowing this way out of proportion. "You know if we keep talking about this, the bell is going to ring without us actually eating." "Tell you what," he starts saying, making me face him, my mind not really concentrating on what he was about to say. "I'll take you out on a date, you'll be my valentine. I'll pick you up at seven." I gape my mouth in shock, my heart beating fast and I got butterflies in my stomach when he says this sentence. "A-are you serious?" I ask him, at the same time as Alexis shouts, "what?!" "Heck yeah i'm serious. What is this about you not ever going on a date," he mutters, shaking his head. He walks away, making his way to the basketball court. I look at Alexis who looks as shocked as I was. "Do you know how lucky you are right now?" She asks me, making the butterflies in my stomach do a whole dance when I realize that I did not actually hear him wrong. "What are you guys doing standing there like idiots? We'll miss lunch," Alec shouts, turning back to look at us. I quickly start walking towards him, my legs trembling at each step I took. **************************************************************************************** "Oh my god! My baby is going on her first date!" My mum declares as soon as she heard the news. I roll my eyes at her. I knew I shouldn't have told her, but I had to because I wouldn't get the permission to go out on a school night without a good reason. "So is that a yes? I can go?" I ask her hopefully, looking at her through my glasses. She drops her fork on her plate, placing her hands on the kitchen table, "yes? I'm going to help you with everything! Your hair, makeup, dress! This is so great!" She goes on, a tear drops on her right eye and she hastily wipes it away. I groan, "mum! I can wear a t-shirt and jeans and it will be okay, Alec has seen me in worse." Just as I say this, my phone beeps, signaling a message. Alec: Wear something formal. I roll my eyes at this. So demanding. "Okay fine, you can dress me up," I say grudgingly, my shoulders slumping as I play with my food. She claps her hand excitedly, "we should start now then. First of, your hair. You need a good trim and wash." Summer: but why are you doing this to me?? My mum is so going to make me her dress up doll today. I roll my eyes but I let her pull me inside her room, she takes out a small towel and takes me to her bathroom. She washes my hair, cuts some split ends, not much that my hair still reaches just above my waist. While she was letting my hair to dry, she starts with my nails, cutting them, filing them and applying nail polish. After my hair dried out, she takes a comb and starts combing me making me groan and flinch in pain because I never used to comb my hair before. One and a half hour later, my hair was combed and curled to perfection, my nails were neat and dry, my legs and hands waxed. "Now, makeup," she states excitedly and I quickly put my hand up. "No makeup." "But-" "Mum!" I protest, giving her a look. She slumps her shoulders and sighs in defeat. I smile when I notice I actually won this argument. Well that was easy. "So for your dress," she starts as she opens her closet. She doesn't go through the area where her cloth racks are at, as I expected, instead she rummages down the racks and takes out a box. "I was thinking, you should wear what I wore on my very first date with your father," she says, sniffing a little. She opens the box and reveals a blood red dress which was long enough to reach just above the knees. It was short sleeved, tight at the chest area but it opens up just below the waist, to the knees. Well at least it wasn't a tight dress. I can eat without worrying about my tummy being bloated. "Well, at least it isn't a tight dress," I state, taking the dress in my hand. She smiles at my reply, looking at me with happiness filled in her eyes. I enter her bathroom and wore the dress, looking at myself through the small mirror in the bathroom. I never looked this good in my entire life, my hair was in neat curls that I was afraid to even run my hair through it for the fear of ruining it, my face had been scrubbed that my face was no longer oily, the dress, as I could only see the top part of it, brought out my chest, showing a little cleavage. I breathe in before walking out of the bathroom. As soon as I enter my mum's room, she gasps, looking at me with teary eyes. Why was she so emotional today? "My baby is growing up," she breathes out, taking a mascara on her hand. "Please just a little mascara and lipstick, that's it." I sigh, I knew she would not let this go easily. "Fine, but no powder or foundation or blusher or-" "Okay okay, I get it. Just the lipstick and mascara," she cuts me off, applying the mascara on my lashes first. "I really don't get why you're making me apply this if i'm just going to wear my glasses anyway," I mutter, making her stop working on my left eyelash. "Who says you're wearing glasses?" "Um. Incase you haven't noticed, I can't see without them." "Which is why you'll be wearing the lenses I bought for you when you turned seventeen last year!" She announces, showing me the lenses. "You can't tell me, you'll be going on a date without showing the prettiest feature you have." I roll my eyes but I let her try to put the lens on my eyes, which took another half an hour. By the time I had succeeded in putting the second lens, the bell rang making my heart stop and the butterflies in my stomach to come back. It's happening, he is here. But maybe it's not him. A ping comes from my phone and a message pops up on the screen. Alec: I'm downstairs. I start hyperventilating, I tremble as I try to breathe in and out. "He's here!" My mum announces excitedly. She grabs a red liquid lipstick and quickly applies it on my lips. She points towards a pair of black high heels, "wear them, i'm going to open the door for him." "Heels?!" I screech, but she was already out of the door and I start panicking on my own. Okay Summer, if you're wearing something fancy, he won't actually make you do things which will require a lot of physical movements, you can do this. Just down the stairs and a few steps to his car. I take the shoes and wear them, I stand up to see if I could balance myself with them. Mh, they're actually not that bad. I take a few steps, walking around the room until I got used to them. "Honey! What's taking you so long?" My mum voice cuts through the house. I take a deep breath, grab the clutch my mum gave me, putting my phone inside then slowly made my way outside the room.
