"Alec Nicolaus Armstrong, America's heartthrob was caught in another fight with the paparazzi last night, the Greek singer seems to have been drinking again," The anchorwoman says, a video footage of a drunk Alec cursing the paparazzi shows up, before the anchor woman speaks again.

"The reason for his recent behavior seems to be his mother's death."

"We were informed by a source that he wants to quit singing as he lost his inspiration, and doesn't feel like singing anymore, so he's going to join a new school, they failed to give me the details of the area as Alec Armstrong wants to have privacy and a normal life, a-" I switched off the tv, I was trying to do my chemistry homework.

I never liked Alec, his personality and his playboy reputation. I'm not like the other girls who gush over him, write fan mails or stalk him on social media. On the contrary, I wouldn't even want to know him.

Little do I know, he was actually going to join our school, and I, Summer Moore, was going to be his guide.

1. Holiday Is Over
"In the end, we only regret the chances we didn't make." -Unknown. ******* "Alec Nicolaus Armstrong, America's heartthrob was caught in another fight with the paparazzi last night, the Greek singer seems to have been drinking again," The anchorwoman says, a video footage of a drunk Alec cursing the paparazzi shows up, before the anchor woman speaks again. I sigh as I try to calculate the moles of a molecule , I always procrastinate. I had the whole winter break to finish the stupid homework but I chose to lay on my bed watching Netflix and reading novels, and now look at me, struggling to finish my last homework. And it's my least favorite subject. Chemistry. Well at least it's the last question. "Summer! It's the last week of your holiday! Go out and enjoy before the holiday ends," my mum walks into my room, without knocking, might I add. "I'm finishing my homework mum, you know, other people's mum would be happy to see their child doing their homework on a holiday," I pointed out. She rolls her beautiful grey eyes, tucking a strand of her dark hair behind her ear,"well i'm not like other mums, i'm a cool mum." I gave her a look before standing up,"okay, i'm going, but only because you creeped me out." It was almost 8pm, the night air was cool in the early January. I grabbed my brown leather jacket and grabbed my chemistry book before heading out. I decided to walk to the coffee shop two streets from our streets. I was craving their cup of hot chocolate. I live in Sitka, a small island in Alaska. There wasn't much to see, just a few historical sites, museums. But one thing I loved about our little town, are the beaches. I love surfing, my dad and I used to surf every Sunday after going to church, and my mum would stay behind at home to make us some snacks for when we come back home. Since we aren't many in this old town, a lot of people know each other. Which means, there's hardly any secret. Once someone knows something about you, the whole town would. Not a lot of drama or anything interesting happens here, it is a small island after all. I've never been anywhere outside this place. Born and raised here, until today. I can't wait to graduate and travel away from here. I want to explore the world and see new things, so i'm really excited that this is my last year in Sitka. Senior year, before I go to college. One thing I would hate to leave behind when I go to college, is my mum. Ever since my dad died, when I was fifteen, my mum and I became very close. To the point that, my mum became dependent on me. But I promised myself I would visit her, as often as I can. She's everything to me. My best friend, my life, my happiness. I wouldn't know life without her. I quickened my pace as the café came into view. A girl my age was entering the café, the door making a jingling sound as it met with the bell on top. I followed her behind and I was quickly met by the smell of coffee and pastry. I breathe in the smell and sigh in contentment, before walking over to the counter. "How's our favorite customer doing?" Josh grins as he greeted me. My heart quickly did a flip flop when my grey eyes met his blue ones. Yes I had a crush on the barista, shoot me. He was kinda cute, with his short brown hair and blue eyes, and the only guy who wasn't my relative to ever talk to me. So you can't blame me that I developed a little crush on him over the last few months. "I'm great, how're you doing?" I quickly reply, with a grin of my own. "I'm good. So, the usual?" He asks, already taking a cup to fill it with the hot chocolate. I nod, before taking out money from my bag and handing it over to him. I walk towards my usual table, at the far end of the café. It has more privacy, and that's what I like. Privacy. To blend in the crowd. I guess that's why I don't have any friends. Unless you would consider the school's secretary as my friend. I'm socially awkward and can't even put up a simple conversation, especially if i'm not used to you. I don't like talking much either. One would say my life is boring, but my books, movies and my mum are enough to keep me happy. I open my chemistry book and start finishing the last question that I was doing before my mum interrupted me. "Studying on winter break?" Josh asks me, quirking an eyebrow as he placed my cup of hot chocolate on the table. "Correction, at the end of winter break. And i'm not studying, just doing some last minute homework," I declare, taking the warm cup into my hand before taking a sip. "Well, I think you should enjoy those last few days before the holiday is over," he says, giving me a half smile before he walks away, leaving me staring at his lean back.
