"Learning to not envy someone else's blessings is what grace looks like," -Rupi Kaur. "Remind me why we are here again," Alec groans. I ignore him, looking at the different liquid foundations. I know Alexis would love makeup but I don't know what makeup exactly. "Don't tell me you want to start applying makeup now, because that would be the shock of the year," Alec jokes, making me roll my eyes. As if that would ever happen. "You told me to chose a gift for Alexis and I know she loves makeup," I inform him. Taking out a brown lipstick. A lipstick can be a good idea. She loves lipsticks, he can just buy her a box of them with every shade. "Buy her lipsticks," I tell him. Taking out a bunch of them randomly and keeping them in the small basket I was carrying. "I'm buying you this," Alec says, showing me a red lipstick. It was almost the same shade as the one I wore on our date. "I really love red lipstick on you so I'm buying you this. You'll wear it whenever we go out again," he goes on. My heart flips at this. Did he mean that we might have more dates? For once, I did not try to argue with him and let him put it in the basket. We walk over to the cash register and Alec pays for the lipsticks. "Now snacks," I say excitedly. This is going to be my favorite part of this shopping trip. We walk over to the supermarket and Alec carried the shopping cart. I smile as I hop my way to the snacks aisle. I carry two microwave popcorn boxes and drop them in the trolley. I skip my way to the chips area and pick three Lays, two Pringles and four Doritos. Alec gives me an amused smile, standing with his arms crossed as he watches me fill up the shopping cart. I find my favorite chips on the topmost row and I grin widely. Tostitos! I stand on my tiptoe, stretching my arms out trying to reach it but I failed. I pout, turning to face the amused Alec. "A little help?" "I think it's enough chips to last us the whole night," Alec answers, unfolding his arms from his chest. I slump my shoulders, "but that's my favorite chips! Pleaaaseee?" He gives me a look before he sighs. "Okay fine." He walks closer to me and carries me by surprise, making me yelp. "What are you doing?!" I ask him. "I'm helping you get the tortilla chips," he answers in a duh tone. "By carrying me?" I feel his shoulders shrug before he easily carries me even higher and over his head. My butt rests on his shoulders, my legs handing on either side of his chest. I grab his hair for support when he starts walking making him groan. "Sorry," I mutter, quickly removing my hands from his hair. "No I like it," he says and I can almost picture his smirk as he says this, making me blush. I easily take the Tostitos when we reach the shelves and drop it on the shopping cart. Alec holds my waist making me yelp in surprise, he easily carries me and drops me. On the shopping cart. "What are you doing?" I ask him, holding either side of the shopping cart tightly. "Trying to have fun," he answers with a grin. "Oh no!" I start saying just as Alec holds the trolley. "Nothing good ever comes from-" But I was cut short with my own scream as I felt the trolley movie fast. We dodge a couple and a small boy, two old couples and a teenage girl who looked at us with a big grin on her face. I start laughing when I realized how fun this actually is but my trip was cut short when we reached the counter and the old lady at the cash register was frowning at us. Alec stops the shopping cart and I struggle to get out. We pay the amount due, well Alec did, but after a lot of arguing and we walk out of the supermarket without shopping bags. We walk to the parking lot and pack the shopping backs inside the car. When we are done we both climb the car, hungry, exhausted and ready to go back to bed. "McDonalds or Chick-fil-A?" "Free lunch?" I ask excitedly. Alec gives me a look, "well now that you asked," he pauses, turning to face me, "no." I pout, slumping in my seat. "So, what's your pick?" "Home," I joke. He gives me a look, " McDonald's it is then." "No! Chick-fil-A," I quickly tell him, making him chuckle. "I thought you wanted to go home?" I scowl, turning the volume of the radio louder. The song two phones came up making me frown. I got two phones, one for the bitches and one for the dough "This is why I prefer old songs," I say, my scowl just deepening. Alec turns to face me with a raised brow, "why?" "Don't you think it's offensive the way they refer to us as the b-word?" I ask him, not wanting to swear. "The b-word?" Alec asks amusedly. "Yes, the b-word! Why can't the say girls? Or women, or ladies!" I ask exasperatedly. "Well you are right about that, but not all songs are offending girls," Alec defends. "Like my songs." "If it's not offending girls it's talking about weed, money, partying and big butts." Which I don't have. "That's not a good message to give the young generation." Alec shrugs. He knows he's guilty there. I heard his songs, they talk about partying and hot girls. "As I said, that is what's selling these days." "Celebrities are the mirror of the society. Young people usually perceive celebrities as someone to look up to, their role models. What do you think they would do when their role model drinks, parties and does drugs?" I go on. He looks at me, like really look at me. His eyes were fixated on my face as I was telling him this. I didn't realize we were already at Chick-fil-A and Alec had already parked the car until I finished my rant. "This," he says, "this is why." "This is why what?" I ask him, confused. "I chose you," he answers me, making my heart beat rapidly. What does he mean? He feels the same way as I feel for him? Or did he mean it in a friendly way? I sat their my mouth opening and closing like a fish, trying to form words in my mouth. "I've never looked at it that way, you know. I know I messed up in my singing career but I'm going to go back to it, and I promise. I'll be as real as I can be," he goes on. I give him a smile, happy that he didn't think I was being stupid.
