17. The Date (Part 2)

"And there will be someone that comes along one day and offers you an entire galaxy when you only expected a single planet." -Unknown. "What are we doing?" I whisper, looking at the field where the fairs during public holidays are held. The Ferris wheel, some few small roller coasters and a set of swings were still there, but the thing was, it wasn't open. Alec walks closer to the gate, beside the gate was a small house where the guard was, snoring as he sleeps. Alec smirks at this and faces me, putting his index finger on his lips.He slowly makes his way inside the small house and shuffles through the cabinet behind, taking some keys with him. It makes a sound, making the guard shift a little. Alec stands stiffly, trying hard not to move. The guard soon went back to snoring. Alec walks out of the house towards me, motioning the keys in his hands. "What are the keys for?" I whisper-ask him. "Well for the gates, of course," he answers me as if it was the most normal thing to do at ten at night. "Please don't tell me we are going to sneak in," I begged him, only to see to my horror, a mischievous grin form on Alec's face. I groan, but follow him towards the gate, he shuffles through the keys, looking for the right one until the gates finally creeks open. I glance at the guard, who barely even flinched at the sound. They should really hire another guard. We finally sneak in and Alec closes the gates behind us, locking it in place. "What if the guard finally notices? How can we escape if you lock the damned gates?" I ask him frustratedly. He rolls his eyes, "so paranoid." But he unlocks the gates anyway. Do I think this is crazy? Yes. Do I think this is insane? Definitely. Do I wonder why I'm even following him? Heck to the yes. "Alec," I call out to him, hugging myself from the cold. He turns to me, quirking an eyebrow questioningly. "This is crazy." "I know." "This is risky." "I know." "This is illegal." "But it's going to be fun," he replies me with a smirk. I sigh, stopping on my tracks, my arms crossed against my chest. "Can you at least tell me what we are doing?" I ask him. He stops and turns to look at me, he takes a step closer to me and shrugs off his suit jacket before he takes another step closer, only centimeters away from me. His arms go around me and places the jacket on me. "It's cold," he states before taking my hand, dragging me towards the steps leading to a roller coaster. Once we reach the top, I look at my surrounding. The place was not clean at all, it looks like it was barely used for years now. There was the small machine-like table on top with many buttons. "Go sit on the roller coaster," Alec hollers, walking over to where the buttons where. "I'm not going there alone," I protest, putting my hand up. Alec smirks at this,"you're scared of roller coasters." I shake my head in reply, not trusting myself to speak. He chuckles, "don't worry, I'll be there." I sigh but trusted that, with some magic, Alec will be there when he switches on the roller coaster. But no, Alec did not just magically appear beside me when the roller coaster started moving. He literally ran towards it and jumped. He freaking jumped! Does he know how dangerous that was?! "You could've died!" I shriek, giving him a punch. I frown, not daring to look at him, as I stared right ahead. The nerve of him! To actually scare me like that. I was angry, no scratch that. Furious even! "But I didn't," he replies me casually, wrapping his arm around my shoulder. "That was really stupid of you Alec! NEVER do that again," I scold him, removing his hand around me before leaning back with a huff. "Aww someone cares," Alec coos, just when the roller coaster went down quickly, I yelp before tugging onto Alec's shirt, which I immediately removed when I saw the smirk on his face. "I'm still mad," I inform him, clutching onto the handle for my dear life when I notice it go for round two. "Aw come on! I knew I wouldn't fall," Alec whines but I keep my nose up, my mouth still in a straight line. "Summer." Quiet. "Summer." I turn my face to face the left side. "So you're giving me the silent treatment on our first date." Butterflies swarmed my stomach but I still don't reply to him. "I'm sorry, don't be like that," he finally apologizes, taking my chin between his fingers, turning me to face him. The rollercoaster pulls into a halt when our trip was over, but we still sat where we were, looking at each other. I look at his brown eyes with golden specks, marveling at its beauty. I don't think I've seen prettier eyes. My breath hitches when I notice his eyes shift to my lips. "So am I forgiven?" He whispers, looking back at my eyes. I nod my head, not trusting myself to speak. "Great! We should go to the Ferris wheel now! Do you know how great the night view of Sitka is from up there?" He says excitedly, taking my hand again to pull me out of the roller coaster. I shake my head in reply, "not really." "Me neither! But we will, tonight." I roll my eyes. Of course, what's a day with Alec without doing something to keep me on my toes? Well, a night, in this case. He takes me towards the Ferris wheel and makes me climb it, he presses something and quickly makes his way to the bucket, making it just in time before it creeks and starts to move. "Do you know how dangerous this is?" I panic when I realize we're going to be high up without anyone monitoring the thing. "Can you stop panicking for once and look at what's in front of you," Alec tells me, making me face to the side. I could see the whole view of Sitka, with the lights covering the island. It was breathtaking. Bordering the island was the Pacific ocean, the moonlight casting a glistening light on it. I let out a breath, a small smile making its way on my face. "It's beautiful," I breathe out. "Not the only thing that looks beautiful tonight," Alec answers, making my heart flutter. I turn to face him to see him looking at me, "well that's cheesy." "It's true though," he whispers, placing a strand of hair behind my ear. "You look very beautiful." I blush even more, my eyes shifting to my hands that I placed on my lap. "You know, I've always wondered why you can never look at me," he starts saying, making me face him again. "When every other girl won't stop staring." "I find eye contacts uncomfortable," I mumble in reply, my eyes going back to hands. "You're different, you know." I face him, to give him a questioning look. Why does this moment seem like some cliché romantic novel? "I'm serious. All of my ex's were nothing like you. They were confident, they loved themselves, they always liked to look beautiful. But I guess it was because they were celebrities, it comes with their job description," he chuckles at that. He takes my head and gently places it on his shoulder, running his hands through my hair. "It's good to actually get to know someone who isn't the same. I know there are a lot of shy girls out there, but none that I know of." He sighs, removing his hand from my hair, holding my hand instead. "I like it. I like that you're different." I look up at him, giving him a smile, trying to cover up the fact that I was blushing like a maniac and my cheeks were resembling a tomato right now. His hand reaches up to cup the side of my face, making me face down, not able to hold the eye contact any longer. "Look at me," he whispers and I obliged. Staring at his golden-brown eyes as he stares back at my grey orbs. His eyes shift to my lips and I felt him move closer towards me, what's even more shocking was that I found myself moving closer to him too. Was he going to try to kiss me like at dinner? There's no one who was going to stop us from up here anyway, although the Ferris wheel was slowly going down now. Just when our lips barely touched though, we hear a whistle which made us quickly jump away from each other. "Oh my god! We are so dead!" I start panicking, taking my shoes in my hand to prepare myself to run. "No we are not," Alec says calmly, he opens the door of the cup and grabs my hand. "Now run!" He orders, already sprinting towards the back gates, his hands still holding mine in a firm grip. "Hey! You two! Stop or I will call the police!"
