"What's the greatest lesson a woman should learn?-That since day one, she's already had everything she needs within herself. It's the world that convinced her she did not." -Rupi Kaur. "He's catching up to us!" I cry when I turn behind to see the guard running after us. I hold my dress up higher, trying to move as fast a pace as Alec. "He'll get tired soon," he assures me, making a sudden left turn just when we cross the back gates. I turn back behind again to see the guy gasping for air, clutching on his knees. I follow Alec through the empty street until we were far enough, just as I was about to stop to hold my breath, I felt a small drop of liquid fall on my shoulder. I look up only to be met by the sound of thunder before a flood of water came tumbling on me. I gape in shock, looking at Alec who wore the same expression as me. "Let's find a shade, we parked the car on the other side of the fair, which is like on the other side of the street!" Alec shouts through the noise. I nod my head, following him until we reach a small bus stop. We walk towards it, sitting on the bench. I shiver in the cold making Alec turn to face me, concern etched on his face. "Are you okay?" He asks me. I don't reply him. Instead, I do the most unexpected thing. I laugh. Loudly. "That..was...the..most.stupid..thing..I've..ever...done!" I say in between laughs. Alec gives me a worried look. "Oh god. What have I done?" "Did you see his f-f!" I continue saying, but I was cut off with my own laugh. I was clutching my knees for support by now. "I think I scared the sense out of her," Alec mutters to himself, still looking at me with worry. He holds my shoulders, trying to stop me from laughing. I clamp my mouth shut, trying hard not to laugh again, which I ended up failing miserably. "The rain has stopped," Alec announces. I stop laughing, taking a huge breath. "I think we should start walking back to the car." I take a deep breath and follow him towards the car, walking silently side by side. There were the occasional droplets of water that keep falling but that was it. Well, I spoke too soon because just as we were turning right, it started drizzling and suddenly the water came back, raining heavily. We were already wet and finding a shade again would be a waste of time. I was just glad we decided not to bring our phones with us otherwise they would definitely be damaged. "Oh man!" I while, stomping my foot like a five-year-old. Alec rolls his eyes at me, "you know when I was five, I used to love the rain." Alec starts saying, kicking a pebble as he continues walking slowly. "Whenever it rains my mum used to call me and I would stop whatever I was doing so I could go outside and play in the rain," Alec says, smiling absentmindedly. I don't know what came over me, whether it was the fact that I actually broke the law today or that I just wanted him to relive his childhood but I cupped my hands together, collecting a handful of water and walked closer to Alec and splashed it on his face. A stricken expression brushes over his face as he stood there, his mouth agape. I snicker, biting my lip to avoid actually bursting out laughing. "When I get you," he growls teasingly when he finally recovers from his shock. I put my tongue out before running away when I catch him just as he was starting to run towards me. "You know I'll catch you in the end," Alec announces the obvious. "Well I'm not going to make it easy for you," I reply him back, giving him a single glance before I turn my attention back ahead. And guess what? Just a few seconds later, Alec's hands wrapped around my waist. "Gotcha!" He whispers in my ear, making me shiver a little when his warm breath fans my neck. He turns me around, "now for your punishment," he says thoughtfully. "I'm not scared." "Oh but you should be," he smirks, I return his smirk with one of my own, trying to show him how I'm not scared of him. He holds my chin and leans in closer to me, his and my own smirk completely vanishing. My heart was beating rapidly when His other hand gripping my waist tightly, pulling me closer to him until we were completely pinned together. "Then why can I feel you shivering?" He whispers, his smirk returning. "B-because of the c-cold," I half lie. Okay, a complete lie. "Then why are you stammering?" "Because i-it's cold." "Why can I feel your heartbeat racing?" He asks me, making me blush in the process. Well, there is no way I can say that that is because of the cold. "Yours is too," I whisper, my hand unconsciously goes to his chest, feeling his heart beat rapidly. He smiles in reply, "I don't know what you did to me woman." "What do you mean?" I ask him, my eyebrow arched questioningly. He shakes his head, taking my hand in his, "nothing, let's get back home before your mum starts worrying." **** I groan, turning off my alarm before going back to sleep again. I was too tired and I was definitely thinking about missing school. I arrived home at midnight and couldn't get any sleep until around two am, thinking about the date. "Summer!" I hear my mum's voice from downstairs. I groan in reply, covering my head with the pillow. "You wake up this instant, young lady," I hear my mum's voice, louder this time. Knowing full well that she was making her way to my room, I quickly jump up from my bed and stood up just when she opens my bedroom door. "You slept with your makeup on? Do you know what that can do to your skin?" She asks me worriedly. I roll my eyes in reply, yawning as I make my way to the bathroom. I thought the rain would've washed it away but I guess I thought wrong. I take a look of my face in the mirror and grimace. I look terrible. The mascara was all over my eyes and my lipstick smudged around my lips and chin. I open the tap washing my face, smiling when a memory from last night flashed back. "Did you have fun?" Alec asks me, stopping me from opening the house door. I turn back to face him to see that he had come out from his car. "Best first date ever!" I reply him enthusiastically. He chuckles taking some steps towards me, "I'm glad you did." He takes another step forward and he was just a few inches away from me now. He takes ahold of a strand of my wet hair, placing it behind my ear. His hand rests on my neck, his thumb caressing my lips. "I really love this lipstick on you," he whispers. He lets go with a small smile,"goodnight beautiful." He turns to walk back to his car but stopped just when he reached the last step, he turns back and quickly walks towards me. Taking me by surprise, he cups my face with his hands, leans in forward and plants a kiss on me. Alec Armstrong kissed me. Well on my cheek but it wasn't exactly on my cheek. In the process of kissing my cheek, his lips touched the side of my lips, making my heart do somersaults. His lips lingered there for a short while before he lets go, almost making me whine in disappointment. And with that, he turns back and walks to his car, leaving me gaping in shock at what happened. "Um, Summer?" Alec takes me out of my shock. I blink, looking at him in the car. Why didn't he leave yet? His face scrunched up to give me an amused smile, "you can enter the house now." I blush. "U-um, and you can leave now," I shot back. "And leave you in the streets at midnight? Are you crazy?" He asks shockingly. My heart leaps when I realize that he cared enough to wait up until I am safely inside. I turn back towards the door and open it, waving a quick bye to Alec before I shut it. Honestly, I was expecting mum at the door waiting for me to come back so I could give her the details. Although I was surprised she wasn't, I was actually kinda glad. I mean, I was tired and all I wanted to do was wear a huge t-shirt, remove my bra and lay on the bed until I fall asleep. "Summer, what's taking you so long? I hope you're not sleeping in there!" My mum shouts outside the bathroom door. I sigh before closing the tap, wiping my face with the towel. I shrug out of my t-shirt and enter the shower. Letting the warm water soothe me. After the shower, I quickly wore a t-shirt and jeans and run down the stairs, my stomach rumbling when I smell the smell of bacon. "Morning!" I chirp, sitting on the kitchen stool. I take a piece of bacon and slip it in my mouth, moaning when the taste reaches my taste buds. "So, how was the date? I want details."
