I grin widely as I stare at my reflection on the full-length mirror in my room. It feels weird without my braces.
"Oh my god, you removed your braces!" I hear Alexis shout. I jump, turning to face my door with a hand on my chest. I find Alexis standing in the middle of the door with a stricken expression on her face.
"How do I look?" I ask her nervously.
"Gorg!" She exclaims, walking over to me. "So why didn't you come to school today? I thought you were sick!" She asks, a worried expression taking over her first stricken one.
"I had to go remove the braces," I answer her, walking over to my bed. I sit down and Alexis sat beside me.
"Thank god! We were so worried," She replies, heaving a sigh of relief. I felt happy and I couldn't help but smile, it feels good to have someone care about me.
"Wait, we?" I ask, confusion masking my face.
"Yeah me and-" she starts replying, but she was cut off by the door as it opens and a panting Alec walks through the door, a tray on his hand with a bowl and a glass of juice, his back was on the door, pushing it so he could walk through.
"So I made you Avgolemono soup. It's a greek soup, I thought you'd be sick and since we swam yesterday and the weather got cold by the time the sun was setting, I figured you'd be having a cold," Alec rambles as he sets the tray on top of the bed. My heart warms as the words roll out of his lips.
"AW you care," I say sarcastically, a smile playing on my lips. He furrows his eyebrows as he observes me. "You don't look sick," he states.
"That's because I'm not," I reply him, taking the spoonful of soup. I try the soup, it tasted delicious as always.
"Why were you not in school then?" He asks me, leaning on the closet door frame. I take another spoonful of soup before replying him, "I had a dentist appointment."
"She removed her braces!" Alexis answers excitedly, grinning widely at Alec. Alec observes me, and I open my mouth, showing my now straight teeth.
"That's why I noticed something was different!" Alec says.
"By the way, don't think I didn't notice you guys totally ditched me again last weekend," Alexis says with a pout, I feel sorry about not taking her with us but I did try to tell her. Alec just didn't seem like he wanted her to come.
"I didn't even know we were going out!" I defend myself, chewing the little piece of chicken I found in my soup. It feels great not to have them stuck in my braces again! Alec just shrugs nonchalantly, taking my spoon in his hands before feeding himself a spoonful of soup.
I don't know why, but I always had a feeling Alec never liked Alexis. He seems to tolerate her because of me. I'm totally going to ask him why later on.
I give him a look before pulling myself up from the bed. "We'll make it up to you, where do you want to go?"
"Mh there's a movie I've been wanting to watch," she answers thoughtfully. I look at her questioningly, urging her to go on.
"I don't know if you guys would like it," she goes on, her cheek turning a light shade of pink. My interest perked up at that, the only genre of movie I don't like would be horror. And no, it's not because I'm scared of them, I just find them boring. They don't have any story behind them, it's just killing and ghosts. I don't even believe in ghosts!
"Come on, just say it already!" Alec groans, clearly frustrated.
"Me before you," she answers, biting her lip. I quirk an eyebrow at her, "why the heck would I not want to watch that? I read the book and I've been waiting for the movie to come out!"
She looks surprised as Alec lets out a loud groan. "I um, just thought t-that um," she stammers, scratching the back of her neck. "Since you're like um a tomboy, you wouldn't want to watch a chick flick?"
An amused smile played on my lips. A tomboy? I mean sure, I never wear dresses or skirts, I don't have any female friends apart from her, but that doesn't make me a tomboy. I mean, I didn't even have any friends before Alec! Not to mention, I absolutely hate sports.
"I totally love watching chick flicks," I confirm, giving her a reassuring smile.
"Well, I don't!" Alec protests, furrowing his perfectly shaped eyebrows.
"I'm sorry but that's the price you pay for ditching me," Alexis says with a pout. Alec looks at me for help but I just shrug in reply.
I stand up, stretching myself before I walk to my closet to look for a sweatshirt. I find a black one with the pocket in the middle and immediately put it on, leaving my tank top inside. I take a hairpin and pull my hair up into a high ponytail. Alec didn't bother to tell me to let it down this time and I am grateful. I wouldn't want to watch the movie while being uncomfortable.
"Let's go?" I ask them, grabbing my phone from the bedside table. Alec lets out a sigh before putting on the blonde wig. I noticed he wore black lenses today. He still looked hot.
Did I just think that? I blush at the thought and clear my throat, focusing on my sneakers as they stepped on the stairs beneath me.
"Why are you blushing?" I hear Alec asking me, which just made me blush even more.
"It's the cold weather," I answer him, not able to look at his face because of the white lie I told him.
"Sure it is," he answers teasingly. I huff but don't bother to answer him as I passed through the door, locking it behind me. My mum went back to work as soon as she brought me back home, so I was completely alone before Alec and Alexis showed up.
We enter Alec's black Range Rover, the new car he bought so as to not get attention. It was black with tinted windows. Even though I never cared for cars, I always had a thing for black cars.
Alec opens the driver's door while I contemplate whether I should sit in front or at the back. We never actually went out in a car with the three of us together. If I sit in front, Alexis might feel left out. If I sit at the back then it'll seem like we're making Alec the driver. Or Alexis could just sit in front, I would be fine with sitting behind, but I had a feeling Alec wouldn't.
After a few seconds debating with myself, Alexis whizzed pass me and opened the passenger door, sitting in front.
Well, there was my answer.
I opened the back door and adjusted myself at my seat. I take out my phone and typed a quick text to my mum letting her know I am out.
We start our small trip to the mall, the silence is heavy even for me. Even if I'm the type of person who doesn't like talking to people, I've never been quiet around Alec, I'm just not used to it.
I clear my throat, trying to come up with something to break the silence. But Alexis spoke before me. "Can you connect the car with Bluetooth?" She asks, fiddling with the car's sound system.
"I don't really know, it's a new car," he answers her shortly, just like he always does. This seriously has to stop, I feel bad for Alexis. She finally connects it to her phone and she smiles brightly. She scrolls through her music list to play one of the songs when one of Alec's songs fill in the car.
Alec shifts uncomfortably, and I grimace. She mutters an apology before choosing another song, her cheeks turning bright pink.
"I'm so sorry, I completely forgot you were him and um," she fiddles with her phone. "I was kind of a fan," she confesses, her cheeks turning an even brighter shade of pink.
Alec smirks giving her a small glance before shifting his attention back to the road. "Was?"
She blushes even more if that was even possible. I roll my eyes, "Alec, stop teasing her."
"I'm not! I was just asking a simple question," he protests, clearly enjoying her discomfort.
"Don't listen to him, you like his music but certainly not his arrogance, right?" I defend her, trying to piss him off. She nods her head causing him to turn to us, his mouth agape.
"Girls love a guy who's confident."
"You're arrogant. There's a difference," I dissent, pulling up my glasses.
"Girls still love it."
"You believe that?" I ask him, clearly enjoying this little banter.
"Yes," he says, keeping his head high, turning right. We were almost there, Only two streets from now.
"That's why you're single," I fired. Giving myself a pat in the back when I noticed his furrowed eyebrow and the giggle that came out from Alexis.
"I'll have you know I can get any girl I want." I had to admit that was true, he could get any girl he wanted with the flick of his arm, not to mention how he has his way with words.
"See, arrogant."
"I'm just stating facts here, beautiful." See?
I blush profusely at that, I was glad I was sitting at the back seat at this moment because he would have definitely pointed out the fact that he made me blush, which would make me blush even more.
"Whatever," I answer back lamely, just as Alec parks the car. We walk out of the car, the cold air hitting me. How I wish it was summer already.
I tuck in the palms of my hand inside the front pocket of my hoodie, following Alec inside the mall, Alexis by my side.
"Guys! Assassin Creed is showing! I think we should watch that!" Alec says, his eyes brightening as he watched the movie schedule on top of the counter.
"Alec, we're doing this for Alexis and she wants to watch Me before you," I scold him. I look at the teenage guy, drooling at Alexis. I clear my throat to get his attention, "can we have three tickets to me before you."
"But why! This is so not fair!" He protests like a five-year-old.
"We can watch this another day," Alexis tells him, taking out her money and handing it over to the guy. The guy accepts it, giving her a wide smile. She doesn't seem to notice the guy's interest in her.
I take out money for two-handing it over to the dude, but just as he was about to accept it, Alec eyes me. "I can pay for myself," he declares, taking out his wallet.
"Last I remember, I owe you some money."
"Last I remember, I told you, you don't have to pay me back," he fires back, giving the guy the money. I take it from his hand before the guy does. "Take mine," I tell him, with a tight-lipped smile. He sighs tiredly before he accepts my money and gives us our ticket.
I hand back the money to Alec which he refuses to accept. I sigh before I lunge towards him, grabbing his torso so it looked like we were hugging. He stands still for a moment, shocked at what I did and I take this as an advantage, placing his money into his back pocket. With a triumphant smile, I take a step back, showing him that I've won.
He rolls his eyes but a small smile played on his lips.
"Guys the movie is about to start!" Alexis reminds us, grabbing our hands and pulling us to room 3, where the movie was showing
