"Oh sweetie, monsters are real, and they look like people." -Unknown.
"Look who decided to remove her braces," a pretty chocolate colored girl says to me with a smirk on her face. I give her a confusing glance, trying to figure out how she knows me. I mean I've seen her around the school and all but I don't really know her and I certainly never thought she knew me.
"Um, w-who are you?" I ask her, actually serious. She looks taken aback, her mouth slightly open as she looks at me in shock.
"Don't act like you don't know me. Everyone knows me!" She insists, her hazel eyes burning with anger when she glares at me. My heart pounds against my chest, I swallow the bile that has risen up my throat. What did she want from me? Did I do anything to her? I don't recall anything, I usually try my best to stay out of people's businesses.
"I'm the Acura Walker," she announces, looking around the hallway. By this time, we had everyone's attention. Causing me to start sweating and my heart to beat even faster.
"U-uh hi?"
"Hi? Hi?!" She screeches, her frizzy hair covering her eyes as she bends down to reach my eye level.
"I-i'm sorry but I-I don't k-know what I did to you," I tell her nervously. She holds my hand in a tight grip, her long nails biting on my skin, making me flinch in pain. "You're so naive! You bump into me, making my phone fall and you're still asking me what you did to me?"
"B-but I apologized," I reason with her. She breathes in, closing her eyes as if trying to calm herself down. When she opens her eyes again, she pulls me towards the ladies room. It was empty and I got scared because we were not in public. What if she decides to beat me up?
"My problem with you is that you're all over my man. My problem with you is that you purposely bumped into me making my phone fall," she says making my mouth drop open at the accusations she was giving me.
"W-what?! What man are you talking about? And I did not purposely bump into you! You know it was an accident!" I raise my voice at her, clearly furious by now.
"Alec! You think just because of the stereotypical romance novels you read every day, you think a hot guy can love a girl like you?" She laughs, giving me a disgusted look. Well, that does wonders to my insecurities.
"He won't even give you a second glance, stop trying to seek for his attention. The only thing stepping between me and my soulmate is you, so I would like to kindly ask you to stay away from him before I decide to make your last high school year miserable." That's how she asks kindly? I feel a pang in my chest when she says this. I'm not all over him, am I?
"Well if you guys are so meant to be then why should I be an obstacle for you? Haven't you heard of the saying, what's meant for you will reach you even if it's between two mountains?" I shot back, my voice calm even though inside I had mixed emotions about all of this and I was frightened to the core.
She huffs, giving me an angry glare. "This is not over yet!" she says, before stomping out of the ladies room, her heels making a click-clack noise as it meets with the tiles.
Letting out a breath I didn't know I've been holding, I straighten up my hoodie and walk out of the ladies room, making my way to my locker. There was no use in going for lunch anyway, seeing as there were only two minutes left. Besides, I wasn't even hungry anymore after the insults I just received.
I open up my locker and take out my economics book before slamming it shut, walking slowly to my class, my eyes observing my surroundings this time, careful not to bump into anyone again.
When I reach my class, I was basically the only one there so I decided to open my economics textbook and start revising. Before I know it the bell has rung and people were starting to walk in class, making a few noises as they talked with each other.
"I heard miss Shelton wants to give a surprise test today," I overhear someone talking. I immediately start panicking, roughly going through my notes again, trying to revise the whole book in the last five minutes left. Just as I was reading the price mechanism topic, miss Shelton arrives with a stack of papers in her hand. She gives us a tight-lipped smile before waving the papers at us, announcing the pop quiz.
"So you'll be having a pop quiz today," she says, walking towards the first table and handing out the paper to Janet who was sitting at the first table on the left.
"I expect everyone to remain quiet during the test, no cheating and if you want to ask for anything ask now before you get the paper," she goes on, as she continues handing the papers. I quickly shuffle through my pencil case, satisfied that I had everything, I take a deep breath and wait for the paper to be handed out to me.
Once she hands me the paper, I immediately start answering the questions, happy that they were actually easy. I finished just when the bell rang, I quickly collect my paper, gathering my stuff before walking out of the door.
"Where were you?" A voice asks me, making me jump in shock. I turn around to find Alec leaning against the wall.
"What do you mean? I had economics as you can see."
"I mean during lunch, you did not show up," he observes, he takes a step forward towards me. My heart beats rapidly against my chest, I did not want to tell him that some obsessed fan threatened me, and I also did not want to lie to him.
"U-um, look the time, I'm going to be late for class," I say, glancing at my non-existence watch on my wrist. I gave him a quick wave before running off towards the direction of my next class, but before I even reached any further away from him, he grabs my waist, making me halt, my heart beating even more rapidly at the sudden contact.
"What are you hiding, Summer?" He whispers, his lips brushing my ear. I resist the sudden urge to shiver, my cheeks reddening at this close proximity.
"U-uh n-nothing," I stammer, making me mentally slap myself. He is totally going to notice my nervousness, proving that I was actually hiding something from him. He turns me around swiftly, making me hold his shoulders in order to straighten myself, his hand still on my waist.
"Are you sure?" He asks me, eyeing me. He knows I can't lie to anyone while looking straight at their face, especially right in the eye. And the way our faces were only inches apart only made me flustered.
"Ibumpedintosomecrazychickwhowantsyouandshegotmadandstartedsayingsomemeanstufftome," I say so fast, hoping he wouldn't hear me properly.
"What did you say?" He asks, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion. I hope he did not hear me, but by the look he was giving me, I knew he heard me.
"Who is this crazy chick?" He asks me. He let go of my waist, and we had some distance between us. I couldn't help but feel a little disappointed at the sudden loss of contact between us but I can't focus on that now. I had to escape this situation somehow.
"I-It's not important Alec, it's fine, she probably was just mad that I bumped into her."
Alec shakes his head, not buying it. "I won't let anyone bully you. What's her name?"
"But it wasn't bullying!" I protest, waving my hands exasperatedly. "She was just simply stating how she feels."
"Just tell me her name, I won't do anything to her," he insists looking at me like I was some delicate vase which was just about to drop from a table. I sigh, running my hand over my face tiredly, "Alec, I said it's fine. I don't think I'll ever cross paths with her again anyway."
He lets out a huge breath, running his hands over his hair in a frustrated manner. "Fine, I'll let it go just this once," he gives up, his shoulders slumps as he gives me a side hug.
"You know I'm late for class because of you, right?" I ask him. He shrugs his shoulder, "I'll walk you to class, I can just tell the teacher you got hurt or something."
"Um I think or something would be better. If I was hurt I'd have a pass from the nurse you doof," I inform him, giving the back of his head a little slap.
"Well, I can say that you got your um," he blushes before he continues, "period and you needed those things and I got it for you from your locker."
I blush at what he said, hiding my flaming cheeks as I bent down to look at the floor. "I have math with Mr. Cedric. It would be weird telling a male teacher that."
"Even better. He would be so weirded out, he would just let it slide."
I sigh but I let him drag me through the hallway all the way to math class. And you know what? Mr. Cedric actually did let it slide, he was so uncomfortable, he was actually sweating!

"So I was thinking about going shopping, I need new flats, would you come with me to the mall?" Alexis asks me as we were walking out of the school.
"Sure, but I have a job at four so we shouldn't stay that long," I answer her. I've never gone out shopping with a friend before, this would be a new experience.
"You have a job?" Alec and Alexis ask in unison. I nod my head in reply, pushing up my glasses.
"Since when?" Alec asks, opening the door to his car. "Since yesterday, it's that café we went to," I answer him, climbing onto the backseat as Alexis sat in front. Alec wears his blonde wig and sunglasses before he starts the car and drives out of the school gates.
"Well don't worry, I'm only going to buy one pair of flats, we won't take long," Alexis assures me as she checks her reflection on the mirror, hand-combing her beautiful auburn hair.
"I'm not going shopping with girls, I'll just drop you guys to the mall," Alec says, looking like he would rather do math than go shopping with us.
"Hey! What's that supposed to mean?" Alexis whines, furrowing her eyebrows, looking at Alec accusingly. He shrugs, turning a sharp left, "just that you girls can take hours going through shops and would only come out with one dress at the end of the day."
"I don't take long while shopping!" Both Alexis and I claimed in unison.
"Yeah right. They all say that. You Summer, I believe, but not queen bee over here," he mocks jokingly, motioning his head at Alexis. Alexis frowns at this, folding her arms across her chest, "well it's true!"
By then we had already reached the mall, Alec drops us, waving goodbye before he drives off. "Well! Let's get shopping!" Alexis exclaims happily, actually skipping her way inside the mall. I sigh, looking up at the sky praying that she wasn't one of those girls who could shop for hours before making my way inside, following her.
