The Meeting

299 Words
I slowly walk out of Jess's house saying my byes as I walk to my mothers home. I still wonder if she is home, not knowing what happened to make her leave, I question myself over and over. My brain makes me feel as if it's all my fault, but I know that isn't true. I walk into the house, my mother sitting at the table, observing some papers. "Hey Mom, Where were you?" I ask, she doesn't reply, she didn't even look up, all of her focus on these papers that lay on the table. I stare at her, the front door still open. I look closely at her face, no emotion showing. " Mom!" I say loudly, trying harder to get her attention. She slowly looks up at me, but as if I didn't exist to her. "What's wrong?" I ask, hoping for a response as she was looking at me. No response was given, only a blank stare. I walk beside her, reading the papers. Bold words are at the top of the paper saying Review of the meeting. What meeting? Did my mother get a second job or something? Befpre I could ask her, she quickly turned the papers over, and looks at me, smiling. "Hi son." She says, as if I have always been in the house. "Hello?" My face is scrunched up, confused as all hell. Whatever, I tell myself, as I walk towards the room, repeating the two words that stood out to me The Meeting. Those words circulated through my brain, attempting to find a meaning to it. I came to the conclusion that my mother got a second job, but I'm not to sure that's correct. I walk into my door to find my computer lay on my desk, closed.
