Gaby left on Saturday when Kiko and Dom drove into Yolks on You. Kiko felt that strange mix of relief that the work of the holidays was over along with the pang that his family were driving away again and he probably wouldn’t see them for most of the upcoming year. Dom, too, looked relieved to some extent, probably because there would be fewer chores to do now.
“I think I’ll miss them,” said Dom as they took the turn into Mount Angus. “Your family’s all right.”
Kiko bit back the immediate response to tell Dom they were his family, too, because they weren’t, and Kiko didn’t dare to think they weren’t yet.
