CHAPTER THREE

A DIFFERENT WORLD

Scott’s smile grew wider. ‘’Welcome to my world,’’ he said, his voice sounding with mystery.

‘’Your world?’’ Lydia asked still shocked.

Yes my world, my territory’’ Scott replied

Scott led Lydia to a secluded clearing, the moonlight giving them an illuminating glow over the trees. He carefully dragged Lydia to a rock, pulling her to sit beside him.

Where are we’’ Lydia asked, her voice barely a whisper.

‘’We’re in a place where the rules of the world do not apply, a place where my type can be free and roam freely without being worried or scared of what others will think about them,’’ Scott replied

Lydia's heart skipped a beat as she looked around, her senses on high alert.

What do you mean by your type’’ Lydia asked still confused, her voice laced with fear.

You will see’’ he said, standing up holding her hand leading her deep into the forest.

As they walked, the tree seemed to grow taller, and the hair grew thick with a different type of energy.

Suddenly, a figure emerged from the shadows, shirtless. He was tall, with piercing green eyes and a mop of gold hair, Lydia's heart skipped a beat as he smiled.

‘’Good evening Alpha’’, Axel said.

Evening, I see you are keeping watch’’ Scott replied his voice warm.

Always Alpha’’ Axel replied, his eyes flicking to Lydia.

Lydia felt a sense of unease as Axel’s eyes seemed to bore into her soul.

There was something about him that looked intense.

You are not answering my questions’s Lydia said as Axel went about his duties of securing the pack perimeters.

‘’My pack, a place where I call my home’’ he said, his voice filled with pride.

‘’Lydia’s eyes widened in shock. ‘’Your pack, what do you mean by your pack’’ she said, her voice barely a whisper.

‘’You’ll learn more soon enough’’ he said, his voice sounding with mystery. Let me show you around and while I explain more to you.

They walked further and she started seeing different houses and a different route that looked like a road part.

‘’I know you have questions and I am ready to explain it all’’ Scott said.

Scott's expression changed and he said in a serious tone.

“We’re werewolves’’ his voice low and mysterious.

“We live in packs, with hierarchy and rules” I’m the Alpha, which means I’m the leader of my pack, more like a king.’’

‘’Werewolves?’’ she repeated her voice trembling with fear, You are joking right? She said.

‘’No I’m not joking, that is who we are’’ Scott replied.

Lydia’s eyes widened with shock You mean like shape shifters’’, They truly exist?

‘’That’s right, he said’’ his voice filled with pride, we can shift into wolves and we can do what humans can’t do. Scott nodded, his eyes gleaming with a hint of mischief.

‘’How does it work?’’ Lydia asked her mind racing with questions, her voice filled with curiosity.

‘’It’s part of who we are, we can shift at will, we also have a connection to the moon.

“During full moon, our powers are stronger and we can lose control if we’re not careful’’. Scott smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners.

Lydia's eyes were wide with wonder. ’

“And Axel’’ she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Scott's expression turned serious. “Axel is one of my most trusted pack members,’’ he said, his voice firm.

He is very loyal and will do whatever it takes to protect our pack.

As Scott explained more about the werewolf world, Lydia listened, she felt like she’d stumbled into a whole new reality, one that was different from what she was used to.

What about humans do you interact with them? Lydia asked, her voice filled with curiosity.

Of course few of us do, but we try to keep our existence a secret,’’.

He said, his voice low and his expression turned cautious.

There are times when humans stumble upon us, we have to be very careful because humans can be unpredicted, we also have a few humans here who are mates to werewolves.

Lydia nodded, her mind racing with questions. She felt like she was just scratching the surface of this mysterious world.

As Scott finished explaining the werewolf world to Lydia, a loud howl echoed through the forest, Scott’s head snapped up his eyes narrowing

‘’What’s that sound? Lydia asked quietly.

Scott's expression turned serious. It’s a warning call,’’ he said his voice low.”

“Someone is approaching our territory’’

Alpha we have a problem, he said, his voice urgent.

A rogue wolf has been spotted on our territory’’ Axel said emerging in front of Lydia.

‘’What part of the border did you find the rogue’’ Scott asked, his hold on Lydia became tighter.

‘’He is on the southern part of the border’’ Axel responded.

Lydia can’t be here he said, take her to the main pack house with

you, I will handle this issue with the others securing the border’’ Scott said.

Lydia's expression changed to one of fear and she held onto Scott's hand tighter than before, she was not willing to follow a complete stranger to another place in a world she was just finding out about.

Scott noticed her change of expression and he tried to calm her down.

Don’t worry you are safe with Axel and I will also join you shortly he said” trying to let go of her hand.

But before Lydia could respond, a figure emerged from the darkness, with piercing yellow eyes and a maniacal grin.

‘’Well, well,’’ the figure said it’s voice dripping with malice. Look who we have here .’’ the Alpha little human friend’ he said with a wicked grin.

Scott's eyes flashed with anger, as he stepped forward his body tense with aggression while protecting Lydia with his body, You are not welcome here,’’ he growled.

The figure chuckled, its eyes glinting with excitement.’’ Oh, I think

I'm exactly where I’m meant to be,’’ it said, its voice dripping with menace.
