Time for Dinner

“I am Alpha Mark, and this is my beta Sara” - he says with pride. Mhm, a female beta, that's refreshing. But I did notice there was no Luna, Alpha Mark must've seen me looking around.

“My Luna, Elizabeth, passed away a few months ago, from cancer.” - I felt the wave of sadness pour from his alpha aura.

“My name is Zara, Zara Thornwood” - I say with pride to match his energy. Gasps, that's what I heard immediately after introducing myself. Now I didn't even tell Jess my last name and she was just as shocked.

“I am so sorry. We heard what happened but were told there were no survivors.” answered Sara, the beta. No survivors huh, I wonder who started that because I am pretty sure I am alive.. Right Maze? “Yes you i***t” good good. Something is wrong. Before I say anything, I can feel it. Something is wrong. There aren't a lot of people at the table because we are still waiting for the rest of the younger crowd to join us, but someone that is unwanted is here. I can feel it. I don't even acknowledge that my eyes change, I just start staring into the wood through the open back door. I knew they were red, I could feel it, apparently so could everyone else because all eyes were on me. One of the warriors gets up and makes way to me but Alpha Mark stops him, he's watching me, trying to understand what is going on. Bingo, I found him. There is a rogue, a few yards away, near the tree line, stalking. But I know he can't see me but he can feel me, that's all I need.

“Jess, hold Anna and go to the living room. Alpha there is an unwanted visitor here.” it's clear they don't smell him but i can sense him, almost as if i have eyes everywhere.

“I am going to half shift and go through the back door, Jess when I get up cover Anna’s eyes and leave, Alpha time to keep up.” I've never heard my voice come out with such authority before, almost like I am in charge of what's going on. And within a second, I jump, using the table as a boost and before I even pass the door, I'm shifted into my scary half monster form. I ran, making a bee line right to where he was. I know he's running but he is not quick. I feel someone coming from behind me, 2 someones actually. 2 twin black wolves. I know for sure one is Mr Logan but who is this second one. They catch up to me, I'm assuming Mark will follow them. Lets see if they can keep up, i dig my nails into the ground and use my strength to gain more distance. I found him. I jump right on his back while he is running away and sink my claws deep. He hits the brakes and starts slamming us up against trees, trying to knock me off. One of the black wolves bit his leg causing him to stop. I can't kill him, we need answers. Maze pulled back. She nods, she understands that no matter how hurt we are, we need to know who started all this. I climb off him and start heading back to the pack house, my dress is fine but my shoes are shredded. One of the wolves carried the now human rogue back with me, and the other disappeared. We enter through the back door again, I go forward but he goes down. To their basement. Mark and his beta are still sitting in the kitchen when I enter. “Jess?”, like she was waiting by the door, she comes in with little Anna behind her. “He was brought to the basement, please let me know when you start questioning him, I want to be there.” I kind of ask the alpha but whatever i am there regardless. “Of course,” he replied proudly. Finally we can eat, right?

“Jess, it's good to see you back, I hope your practice is going well.” -Mark said when Jess found her seat. She just smiles and nods.

“Finally everyone is here, let's eat. Rose, an older maid, comes out the walk in closest. We are ready to eat Rose, thank you.” - Mark says graciously. The main door opens and here come 2 tall men. One obviously is Logan but the other I have not met yet, but they smell good. “Mine” one word came from Mazzie and it made my heart stop and panic rise. “Which one is Maze?” “Both, mine, let me out” she was moving like a feral creature in my head. “Calm it down or I shut you out” I threaten.

“That was some good hunting there girl” the unknown one says to me. Girl, pff, I can kick his ass.

“Now Josh that was not polite, Zara met Josh and Logan, my oldest sons and soon to be Alpha and Beta.” - Mark says with a huge smile, he is very happy for a successful family. “Let our scent out” - Maze whined. I had to think. Like seriously think.

“Zara was Mr Derick’s oldest daughter.”

“Hello Zara” they both replied at the same time. Twins. I knew it. “Mhm twins” Maze licked her lips, this horny monster. “Hello” I replied and we reached for a hand shake. I felt the tingles. I then reached to shake Mark's hand, which I forgot to do when I showed up. I felt pain and sickness when shaking Mark's hand. “He is sick Z, we can help him” - Maze said with confidence. “What?” “we can do it Z, trust me.” - well i guess i don't really have a choice.

“Alpha Mark, you’re sick?” - I asked while looking into his now sad eyes.

“How did you…” he trailed off. I can feel the anger come from around the room. No one knew.

“I am sorry, I feel it, it's so painful. I can help you.” I now have two hands over his one. Waiting for his permission. “Tell him it won't hurt, we promise.”

“I promise you, it'll be painless.” - I said , trying to get him to believe me.

“Okay” alright Maze it's go time. I feel my eyes change to red, and I feel…. A power, I think, I feel something surging through me and I can feel Maze channeling it to my hands. I don't know what's going on but it takes a lot of energy to move it. My hands glow red, not a big shiny red light, a small red flash. And I can see Mark's eyes open wide as he stares at what I am doing. I start feeling weaker. “We are almost there Z, deep breath, almost done” Maze is trying to comfort me”. We stand like this for a few minutes then everything stops. “We did it Z!” was the last thing I heard before hitting the floor.
