The Last Dragon Princess

Why do I have to follow the Lion family this year? Last year, my friend and soon-to-be Beta Wade was told to follow the family out to Silver Moon Lake by our boarders to see if Lavinia would finally shift for the first time. I don't understand why my dad is so obsessed with finding out what type of shifter she is. Everyone knows that she's strong and doesn't take s**t from anyone. No matter what I do, to try and get her to leave, she won't. I'm supposed to be the strongest in the pack under my dad. Not her. Hell, I think she is even stronger than my dad. It's not that I hate her per se, but more that I don't want people looking down on me and not trusting me to protect them when its my time to take over the pack from my dad.

Honestly, I should have taken over a couple of years ago, but he refused to give up the alpha title. Ever since mom died in a rogue attack a few years ago, he seems to be becoming obsessed with becoming the strongest alpha so he doesn't lose anyone else, but in the process he has started to mistreat our pack members. He's noticed that I can't beat Lavinia in training. She can't spar with anyone else because she always beats them. Granted, her parents are the top warriors in our pack, so that makes sense, but even still, I should be able to beat her and I can't.

I'm worried that my father is going to target her and force her to be his mate so he will be the strongest and no one will challenge him in fear that, even though there will be a forced mark and mating, that Lavinia will retaliate. I think that he suspects what type of shifter she is and just wants confirmation before he forces her to be his mate. I'm concerned about her safety. I have to hide the fact that I really like her and hope that she's my mate, in fear of what my father will do.

I'm 25 and haven't found my mate yet. I've been invited to other packs of mating balls but have no luck finding my mate yet. I hope its Lavinia. She would be the perfect Luna. She cares about everyone and helps out where she can and if it's something she doesn't know how to do, she finds a way to get it done or does the research and learns how to do it so she can help others. I know she thinks that I hate her. But what else can I do to keep her safe? If she is a shifter that will bring her mate more power, then I can't tell my father what she is. Wade has been helping me keep her safe. I don't believe she or her family have noticed the way my dad has taken an interest in her. It's almost kinda creepy with the way he always seems to know where she is and who she's with. He gets pissed off anytime she's with other males, and he's not around. Actually, it is creepy. He's half her age. Just because we are wolves, doesn't mean that we live for hundreds of years. The only shifters that did were the dragons. But the hunters killed the all. The last dragons died 100 years ago.

Everything about dragons, well almost everything, was lost 200 years ago.

A few years after the Lion family found Lavinia, which we still don't know how they found her, just that they couldn't find her parents, I found a hidden cave behind the waterfall at the lake. I was 8 years old. Wade was with me when I found it. We explored the cave and were able to get to places that adults weren't able to. While we were exploring, I found a journal. It looked like it had been there for 100 years or more. Some of the writing was in a different language but some I could understand. It looked like it was left for someone's daughter.

From what I was able to understand out of the journal, the parents were saying goodbye, that they had to leave the cave in order to protect their daughter from the hunters. That they wished they could have stayed even if their Den had gone from 10 to just the 3 of them. I'm still not sure what "Den" means, but it's clearly important to them. They had lost everything to hunters and this was the last thing that they had to give to their daughter if she was ever able to find a worthy "Den" and hatch. To have a happy life, away from the hunters or anyone that would try to use her to gain power for themselves. Whoever this daughter is must be important. I wonder if she ever knew about this journal or where it was hidden. My pack has only been here for about 100 years.

The night of the Silver Blood Moon was the night that my great-grandparents started this pack. That was the same year that the last of the dragons was killed. People have said that the last ones to die were the dragon king and queen, but there are also rumors that they were able to save one egg from their clutch before the hunters killed them. Now, no one knows what is true and what isn't. Rather, there is a lost dragon princess or prince out there or not. I think that, based on the journal, I found that there is a dragon princess. The Last Dragon Princess.

According to the journal, dragons are able to pass part of their long life spans on to their non-dragon mate, if they are mated to someone who isn't already a Dragon. They also don't shift until they turn 20 and find their mate on the same day. Based on this information, I think I know who the Last Dragon Princess is. I just hope I am wrong. If I'm correct, how the hell can I protect her from my father?
