Chapter 1 Bachelor Party
Three days earlier, on a bright, sunlit beach.
I woke up to someone pressing against my lips. The first thing I saw when I opened my eyes was Reginald.
His face was so close to mine, no longer distant and indifferent like usual. There was actual concern in his eyes.
I could clearly feel him giving me rescue breaths.
My mind went blank for a second, and before I could think, I parted my lips and lightly brushed my tongue against his.
Reginald froze instantly, then shoved me away like I had just done something unacceptable.
I was still shaken from almost drowning, completely forgetting that Reginald was known for disliking me.
Like someone clinging to a life raft, I grabbed onto his shoulders. "Don't go... please, help me..."
I moved too suddenly and pulled him off balance.
He stumbled forward, his lips crashing hard against mine, his hand accidentally pressing against my chest.
Everything around us seemed to go quiet.
My mind, which had been completely blank, finally snapped back.
'Oh my God. I just kissed my fiancé's uncle... and made it worse.'
Half an hour ago, I had been surfing when a massive wave knocked me straight into the water.
Right before I blacked out, I vaguely saw Reginald jumping off a yacht, swimming toward me as fast as he could, pulling me into his arms.
So he had saved me. And given me CPR. And I just... crossed a line like that?
If anyone found out, I would never live it down. More importantly, Reginald already couldn't stand me.
After this, would he come after me for it?
He was known for being extremely particular, and ruthless in business. No one who crossed him ever ended well.
"Let go," Reginald said coldly.
I jerked my hands back like I had been shocked and quickly got to my feet.
His lips were red now, slightly swollen, even split.
I felt so awkward I wanted to disappear into the sand. Just then, several people came running toward us. I saw a doctor in front, with fiancé Ian Fitzgerald and my best friend Madison Watson right behind him.
An idea hit me instantly. 'Play temporary amnesia.'
That way, no one would have to deal with how awkward this was.
And maybe Reginald would let it go, thinking I wasn't in my right mind.
While the doctor checked me over, I put on a confused expression and asked softly, "Who are you? Why am I here?"
