I went downstairs from my long day to read a book; Oliver came in to sit next to me to read with me.
“What are you reading about Rose?” Oliver asked, looking at the book I had in my hands
I closed the book and showed him the title of the book.
“The vampires: Rouge, good or undecided by Caerol Swarte.” Oliver read my mother’s journal title out loud. I saw his expression change.
“It was my mother’s before she died and she gave it to me to read whenever I wanted, so I can learn to adapt to any new types of rouge vampires or new abilities.” I said and continued to read chapter five: a new clan without authorization.
“Your mom knew a lot huh?” Oliver said and the words lingered in my crazy brain for a while.
“Yea, she knew a lot,” I sighed and looked at the book, then back at Oliver, “now she is just gone and I cannot believe it.”
“I’m really sorry Rose, I just wish …” Oliver trailed off and I instantly knew what he meant.
“Its alright, it was a long time ago, there was nothing to be done.” I said, putting a hand on top of his own.
Oliver gripped my hand and stared at me before he smiled, then he held on to my hand for quite a bit. I can’t describe the shock currents running through my body, but it felt like I was holding a warm wire with live electricity running through it. I had to let go before it got extremely awkward, but Oliver held on to me and looked me in my eyes.
“Rose, I was wondering if maybe you and I could umm…” Oliver trailed, so I knew what he meant and I answered the one word I was shocked by.
“Maybe, I will think about it.” I said and instantly covered my mouth and gasped along with S.A.R.A.H and my dad.
“Awesome, I am in so much shock right now.” Oliver said.
You and me both. I thought to myself and grinned at Oliver.
I didn’t know I fell asleep, until I woke up to my alarm going off and Oliver by my side. I was regretting saying maybe, but I also wanted to say it and I just felt good about it.
“Morning, its Tuesday and you are as lovely as ever.” Oliver said, so I stuck my tongue out at him and got up to get ready for another day in that crappy place.
“I know and out so I can get changed.” I said, but Oliver just left before I could’ve said a word.
“Okay, that’s not weird or not normal at all.” I said, looking around.
I left my room and headed upstairs to find Oliver talking to my dad, which I was surprised at.
“Rule thirty-nine: You hurt her, I’ll hurt you, and lastly, Rule forty: You make her happy, okay?” My dad finished explaining the dating rules for me, and then dad looked at me. Dad looked so happy that I said maybe to a guy he actually didn’t want to murder.
“Morning Rose, ready for school?” Dad asked when my face turned red a bit.
“Yes dad, I am obviously ready for school.” I said, rolling my eyes at him and Oliver.
“Oliver would you like a ride; I can give you one if it isn’t too much trouble for you.” My dad turned to Oliver after watching me go into the kitchen to grab a small breakfast.
“I would really appreciate that sir.” Oliver said back, not taking his eyes off me.
“Sir? No, no, no, Oliver you may call me Carlsone.” Dad said and I nearly choked on my breakfast when he said Oliver could call my dad by his first name. Dad never let my first bastard of a boy friend even call my dad by the last name, it was always sir or Rose’s scary dad, but with Oliver it was a totally different story.
“*cough, gag* Dad, your letting Oliver call you by your first name?” I choked out a bit.
“Yes, Rose, I am, because I think this one is different than that rotten, crappy, son of a-“Dad almost cursed, but I glared at him in the eye.
“I think she gets it, Carlsone.” Oliver winked at me.
Oliver and I arrived at school, hand in hand, and the crowd just gasped at it and stared. I stared back, but smirked at all the boys who were so upset by this. I had to admit that I found the one person who understands me perfectly.
“Hey bro, would you mind introducing me to your lovely friend here?” One of Oliver’s brothers smiled at me and held out a hand to me.
“I’m Rose, nice to meet you.” I said and shook his hand.
“I’m Demano, the middle brother, I have the gift to mesmerize certain objects to shift forms and Change shape. I can even do humans at will, but Oliver would kill me if I even tried it on you.” Demano said to mostly Oliver, who smirked.
“I would do it in a heartbeat, but your family, but I wouldn’t do it to family unless they mysteriously went rouge and I would have to do the impossible.” Oliver said, looking at me through his eyes. I felt so sad for him, and yet I felt happy he was here with me now.
I talked and laughed with Oliver and Demano until the bell to let us in rang, so Oliver and I headed to our homeroom. There was chatter about how Oliver and I would be a couple or are a couple, but I only said maybe and that isn’t a yes or a no. Oliver walked along side me, holding my hand slightly, and smiling at me with my now favorite smile.
“What is it now?” I asked, glaring at Oliver.
“Diamond is going to get pissed off.” Oliver said, smiling. I smiled at the ideal of Diamond getting ticked off at our supposed dating status.
“I like that idea, now the day got so much better.” I said and sat down in my seat opposite to Oliver, writing down notes from the announcements.
Oliver opened the door to a lot of people clapping and cheering us on. I smiled nervously at the “Way to goes” and “congrats” floating around us, but everything stopped when Diamond made her way into the crowd.
“I, like, don’t believe this,” Diamond said pointing at us, while the crowd dispersed till the three of us were alone, “I don’t believe Oliver, my Oli-wali, would, like, pick this loser over me; the popularest girl in school.” I looked at Oliver, who was seething rage at this point, and then back at Diamond.
“Believe it,” I grabbed Oliver’s hand, “Oliver and I are a couple and for you information popularest is not a word, but insane and demented are real words.” I said and put one hand on my hip and frowning at Diamond.
“I, like, want you to prove it or else I take my Oli-wali back from you, like, loser.” Diamond said and I knew what she meant.
“You want me to prove it, and then I will.” I said, grabbing Oliver’s face and kissing him full force on the lips.
Oliver and I stayed in a kiss for about five minutes and thirty seconds, holding our heads together for a long time.
“Alright, you, like, proved it that you are a couple. (Sigh) I was so hoping you would do better Oli-wali, like, like, me.” Diamond said, pointing at herself and walking away from our happy- go- lucky faces.
“Wow, so we are an official couple?” Oliver asked, turning toward me.
“Yea, I guess we are.” I said, gripping his hand and felt like my heart wasn’t dead inside.
Oliver and I, being the c-c-couple we are, sat together at lunch with our entire friends and Oliver’s brother congratulating us. I glanced at Diamond, who sat alone in a corner, and smirked at her being without her fake posse following her around, like she was the queen of the world.
I was happy that A) Diamond was not happy that Oliver and I were d-d-d-dating, B) Oliver was happy to see me every day and night, and C) I was enjoying my time with Oliver.
I was at ease in a relationship with a guy who understood me on many levels, including my life with killing rouge vampires and being paranoid that I will die at night, but Oliver was the best boyfriend I can have.
“Oliver, I want to say thank you for giving me a new purpose to my life.” I said and nodded down to our electrified hands, which were intertwined with each other.
“You’re welcome and,” Oliver grabbed my head and kissed me on my lips, again, before he pulled away, “Thank you for make my immortality a little more meaningful.” Oliver said and held my waist; I noticed that he was only slightly taller than me.
“Last time it never went so well, with that one douche bag.” I said, gritting my teeth to the one guy that never understood or cared.
“Well I am glad I am not him right now, what happened between you two?” Oliver asked another difficult question.
“(Sigh) I think it’s about time I told you what happened and how I came to not trust guys, not that I don’t trust you; because I do.” I said and Oliver looked at me seriously.
