Chapter Four

" Please, just call me Mr. Kings, " My new boss said in irritation after subsequent winces at my " Sir" over the hour. He took it upon himself to show me round the hotel: the number of restrooms in each suite and I tried my best to be inquisitive as much as possible. My job was not much but I needed to create the best impression to eradicate any second thoughts in his mind. It was part of the reason I did not mind subduing the blinding pain in my ankle. A step forward. Ow ! " I expect all my staff to be hardworking. I don't tolerate tardiness that is the only way this hotel has remained on top of the charts all these years " " Ooh, that is great ! " I smiled. " You will be trained how to conduct yourself , this is a five star hotel and all staff must behave in manner that fits the class. Not for my sake but for the customers and tourists we have, " Mr. Kings spoke his legs taking powerful strides along the corridor while I tried my best to keep up his pace, almost limping in my heels. " That is it then," He made an abrupt turn and I almost run into him. " Ooh ! " He fixed kind brown eyes on me, his lips playing about a smile as he pocketed. He was a beautiful man, perfect and fit for any magazine cover, gym fitness commercial. With a lighter skin tone akin to the Kamba tribe, 6'2 height and striking brown eyes, Mr. Adrian Kings was a master piece of his own kind. He seemed mature and in my little mind I thought he was married. Those were trivial matters, I needed money urgently. " How long were you planning to hide your hurt ankle from me ? " I blinked. But how did he notice ? " I have my ways, dear and pain is written all over your face. I am usually not this generous but how about a trip to the hospital and some food then we can let you stay in one of the staff wings, " I mutely nodded. He jerked his head, an instruction to follow him on his way out. **** I was escorted to the hospital by one of his staff, a quite understandable situation as he was busy. “ You're lucky the boss has a merciful nature and fears his God, otherwise he'd left you alone, ” The lean man in green shirt beside me in the four seater land cruiser muttered after a long silent drive. I blinked at him, not seeing the relevance of whatever he just said. “ I only have one request, ” That got my attention and I turned to stare at him. “ Please don't try to ruin him. You all do but you can't succeed, ” Okay, scary. That was strange. Why in the world would I want to ruin a man that saved me from one of downgrading jobs in the world? I looked at his furrowed brows and noticed that indeed his pitch black eyes were narrowed in an unspoken threat. “ Uhm, yes, ” “ That is what they all say but we will see, ” The rest of the ride was uncomfortably silent.
