It's a war between Millers and Taylors

“What do you know? My elder granddaughters’ marriage was a love marriage they chose their partner by themselves. And the younger spoiled brats forced us to send them to the boarding school. Whereas Adam lives with us, but we can hardly see him around. Not because he is busy at work, because he is busy with his friends. And about Rija she moved to live alone like all the youngsters but whenever you call her, she comes to visit you no matter what but you still complain about it. Then tell me a poor old man like me is pitiful or not.”, Dan replied furiously.

Both old men were arguing like a child Rija saw it and felt that she should stop them, “Grandpa Dan, please calm down it’s ok if they can’t spend time with you. I have enough time. I’ll accompany you. And grandpa Pablo I'm sorry I know I don't come home often but I promise I will try to come back as much as I can.".

Rija said in her heart, "Till I get admission to university I promise I will come home".

"Oh, right your chess game is still pending I will ask Nanny Rose to prepare some snacks then I will accompany both of you for a chess game.”, after saying this she ran out to call Nanny Rose.

Dan saw her running out and praised her, “What a good child.”.

“My granddaughter.”, Pablo said proudly.

“Yeah, but soon I will snatch her from you.”, Dan said provocatively.

“That’s never going to happen.”, Pablo replied with determination.

“Oh, it will. I was actually waiting for Harry Freya to discuss it but looks like I have to discuss it with you.”, Dan said with a serious face.

“What you want to talk about?”, Pablo asked.

“I want Rija to be my granddaughter-in-law. If you are ok with it, I want Rija to marry Adam.”, Dan said.

Pablo and Valda looked at each other for a moment then Valda said carefully, “Dan time has changed. Now parents can’t fix their children's marriage like people used to do in past.”.

“I know Valda I have asked Adam before coming to you. He said he know who is Rija Tyler and he is ready to marry her.”, Dan replied calmly.

“Did he meet Rija before.”, Pablo asked with confusion.

“That’s what he said.”, Dan replied.

Pablo rubbed his forehead and said, “Hmm, give me some time I will talk to Rija about it.”.

“Ok, take your time but I’m telling you she can only be my granddaughter-in-law.”, Dan replied.

“We will see”, Pablo replied.

“Grandpa, Grandpa Dan hurry up we have a game to win.”, Rija came running in and urged them to leave with her.

“Yes … yes let’s go let’s play the chess first.”, Pablo said. And the three of them left leaving Valda behind who were thinking about what Dan just said.

After a minute she picked up her mobile and dialed Harry’s number.

After two tunes, the call was answered, “Hi mom”.

“Hi son, where are you?”, Valda asked with a sweet smile.

“I am not coming back, mom. So, don’t try I am happy where I am.”, Harry replied.

Valda’s smile vanished, she sighed and replied, “I wanted to discuss something about Rija.”.

“What about her. I already know she is going to foreign for her education.”, Harry said casually.

“It’s not about that Dan Miller asked your father to marry Rija with his grandson Adam Miller.”, Valda said with a grumpy face.

“He did what?”, Harry was a little shocked.

“He wants Rija to marry his grandson Adam.”, Valda explained again.

“Wow, mom that’s great. Adam Miller is a gem. You should agree to this marriage.”, Harry was happy and excited.

“What are you saying we have not asked Rija yet how can we say yes without her consent.”, Valda scolded him.

“Mum, it’s Adam Miller we are talking about. If Rija marries him, she will become the wife of the richest Young Man of the whole country. Not just that she will become the hostess of the Miller family. What else would she want? Mom right now every single girl in the country is dreaming about becoming Adam’s wife how can you delay this. What if Uncle Dan changes his mind?”, Harry said furiously.

“You know what just forget it. Your dad is right you are hopeless. I and your dad will handle this. You don’t have to worry about it. Just remember to attend the wedding.”, Valda become angry and hung up without waiting for Harry’s reply.

Then after 2-3 minutes, she dialed Freya’s number.

The call was answered immediately but not by Freya but her secretary, “Hello, Mrs. Valda Tyler. Madam is in a meeting if you have anything important you can tell me I will convey the message.”.

Valda rolled her eyes, “No it’s nothing. Just tell her to call me when she is free.” Then she hung up in frustration without waiting for a reply.

“What’s wrong with these two. Why it’s so hard to talk to them. I must ask Pablo to make sure Rija meets Adam and decide on her own about the wedding I can’t bear one more pathetic couple like Harry and Freya.”, Valda shouted in anger.

After making calls Valda lost all her hopes in her son and daughter-in-law, she decided that she will talk to Rija and decide about it rather than wait for Harry and Freya.

She then went to see what Pablo, Dan, and Rija are doing.

* * * * * * Inside the study room of the Taylor Family’s Villa * * * * * *

Dan Miller and Pablo Taylor were staring at the chessboard with serious expressions like they are on the battleground of the bloodiest war while Rija was looking at both of them nervously.

“Ahem, gran…” “Shhhhh …”, Rija tried to say something, but Pablo interrupted her.

Rija became a little anxious and helpless too.

At the same time, Valda came inside the room, when she saw the tense atmosphere inside the room, she felt helpless to see how childish the two elders are behaving. She walked close to them and looked at the chessboard seriously.

“Whose move?”, Valda whispered.

“Grandpa Dan”, Rija replied in a soft voice.

Valda raised her eyebrows and said, “Foul’s mate”, and then she quickly ran away from the room.

“Ah, yes”, Dan shouted excitedly and made his move.

Pablo became furious, “VALDA.”.

Rija was dumbfounded by what just happened, she saw the happy expression of Dan and then the grumpy face of Pablo and started laughing non-stop. Her grandma just backstabbed her husband.

“It won’t count it was Valda who told you about it.”, Pablo shouted.

“It doesn’t matter who told me what matters is that I won.”, Dan said proudly.

Pablo became more furious, Rija knew if they continued like this situation will become bad, so she tried to calm Pablo, “Grandpa, relax it isn’t a big deal it's just a game.”.

“It’s not just a game, it's a war between Millers and Taylors, and Valda ruined it. Bloody Traitor.”, Pablo complained like a child.

"Grandpa language", Rija scold him.

"I don't care about language. Your grandma is a traitor I should file for divorce. I can't stand to live with her anymore.", Pablo became furious.

"You can't be serious, ha ... ha ... ha ... is losing to meet is that big insult to you. I feel honoured to hear it.", Dan teased him.

"It's not because I lose to you it's because she backstabbed me.", Pablo shouted.

Rija shook her head, she tried to coax him like a child, “Grandpa it’s ok You can defeat Grandpa Dan in another game on another day.".

"No we will have a new game now and you stay and watch.", Pablo ordered.

"Now, Ahem grandpa, I have to go back now.", Rija said carefully.

“Where are you going Rosy told me that you will stay here tonight.”, Pablo said unhappily.

Rija scratched her head and said carefully, “Grandpa please let me go tonight I promise I will spend the next two nights here.”.

Pablo looked at Dan with a grumpy face and complained, "It's all your fault. Your company is forcing my granddaughter to work like a donkey. Because of your company I can't see my granddaughter often. If I knew you will do this to my baby girl I would have never let her work there.".

Dan choked on his saliva when he heard Pablo's accusation. he still remembers it was this old man's birthday party at which he met Rija. Pablo Taylor told him that she is looking for an internship. When Dan Rija he liked, he saw her running back and forth just to make sure nothing goes wrong at her grandpa's birthday. She was confident and polite while talking to people. She had a sweet touch of an innocent light girl as well as the solid confidence of a successful businesswoman.

When he saw her he knew that this girl is a born genius and will be very successful in life. What impressed him more was the care and love she had for her family. Therefore when Pablo requested him to allow her to be an intern at one of his companies, he quickly agreed and offered her to join Miller's garments as an intern. Rija was so excited, after all, getting an internship in Miller's any business is not a small thing.

Dan sneered, "Old man looks like your memory is getting weak. Wasn't it you who requested me to hire her as an intern.".

Pablo shouted, "Yes, I did. I did it because I did not want her to work anywhere else and drain herself. I thought you are my friend if she worked at your company you will take care of her. But you are a leech sucking my granddaughter's blood day and night just to earn some pennies.".

Rija became sad when she heard Pablo, with wet eyes she asked, "Grandpa, how can you say that. You think I am only capable of draining myself for pennies.".

Pablo panicked when he saw his precious granddaughter's sad face, he quickly wiped her tears and tried to coax her, "I'm sorry love, grandpa didn't mean that. I know you are a genius and capable of running the whole company. I know one day you will handle Taylor's business efficiently even more efficiently than your mother. I was scolding this man for using you.".

"I liked working at Miller's garments. They gave me so many chances to learn and grow. Grandpa, you can't simply scold grandpa Dan. Just because I don't have time to visit you. Even it's not all because of work that I can't come often. You know I want to continue my studies. You know I have a dream. staying at the villa saves the time that I need to travel to the office from here. That time I utilize to focus on my studies. Don't you want me to succeed in my life.", Rija said with a cute face.

"Nonsense of course I want.", Pablo said softly.

"Then it's a deal I will go back tonight.", Rija jumped with a mischievous smile.

Pablo was dumbstruck by the change of event when he saw the smile of his precious granddaughter he did not have the heart to make her sad again, but he also can't bear to let her go. He called her home because her parents were coming he thought she can finally spend some time with them but those two useless people did not care about her feelings and kept fighting with each other because of this he and Valda also did not get a chance to spend quality time with Rija. After they both left in the morning he was relieved that finally, he could be happy with his granddaughter for some time but now this girl wants to go back to her private villa.

“But Rija you said that you will stay tonight, this is unfair my dear.”, said Pablo in a disappointing way.

“Please please please grandpa just let me go today, I promise I will come back tomorrow and will stay here two nights. I PROMISE GRANDPAA!!.”, said Rija in a convincing way towards Pablo.

After all, Pablo loved Rija a lot, although he was sad he agreed to her condition saying, “Alright my dear you can go today, but don’t go back on your words. I’ll be waiting for you tomorrow. You better be here!.”.

“Awww! That is why I love you the most grandpa. Thank you ... thank you ... thank you.” Said Rija in an exciting manner then she hugged him tightly.

Pablo hugged her back and said, “Okay my dear, but please have dinner with us and then you may go.”.

Rija let him go and replied, “Nooo grandpa! Actually I’m not in the mood for dinner and don’t worry there’s food at home so if I’ll be hungry, I’ll have some of that.”.

Pablo sighed, “Okay my dear, as you say so.”.

Then Pablo turned to Dan and said, "I will go and see her off. I will deal with you at the dinner table.".

Dan laughed, "I'll be waiting.".

"Bye grandpa Dan", Rija greeted Dan.

"Bye Rija, stay blessed child.", Dan blessed her.

"Thank you grandpa Dan", Rija thanked him.

Then Pablo and Rija both left together, behind them Dan looked at them with envy and determination.

Pablo went to the car with Rija, he even asked a servant on his way to call Nanny Rose.

In front of the car, Nanny Rose came out of the house quickly and rushed toward Pablo, James, and Rija.

"Mr. Taylor, you called me.", Nanny Rose asked carefully.

"Go and stay with Rija. She had not eaten dinner yet. Make sure she eats before going to bed.", Pablo instructed her.

"Yes, Mr. Taylor", Nanny Rose replied respectfully.

then he turned to driver James and instructed him, "Be careful on the way. Don't let an accident happen.".

"Yes, Mr. Taylor. Rest assured I will take care of Baby Rija's safety.", James replied.

Rija looked at all the people helplessly.

She pouted and said, "Grandpa, I am grown up now. I told you there is food at home. Why are you asking Nanny Rose to stay with me. And uncle James is my driver for more than 20 years you should show some trust in him.".

"I will not hear a word about it Nanny Rose will go with you otherwise forget about leaving.", Pablo said with a straight face.

Rija wanted to reject him but when she saw his face she knew if she refused he will definitely not let her go, so she nodded silently.

Pablo was satisfied with her answer, he cleared his throat and said, "And about James. If I don't trust him do you really think he will be your driver for more than 20 years.".

Rija was dumbfounded by his reply, offer how can she forget her over protected grandpa will never let anyone who he does not trust come near her. That is also the reason he personally requested Dan to hire her at one of his companies because he can't trust anyone else and most importantly can't let her work at any random company.

Rija sighed and with a sweet smile she hugged Pablo and said, “Bye grandpa. See you tomorrow.”.

“Bye, my dear. Take care of yourself. When you reach home just leave me a text.”, Pablo hugged her back and replied.

“Sure grandpa, I will text you when I’ll reach.” Rija let him go and sat in the car.

Nanny Rose and Driver James also formally bit goodbye to Pablo and then sat in the car.
