It was my mistake.

Pablo completed Dan’s discharge procedure secretly, and then he asked to appoint a male nurse for help.

He went back to Dan’s ward with the male nurse.

Pablo pushed open the door and went in. He looked at Dan who was calmly lying in the bed, “Dan, I have brought a male nurse for you. If you need any help, you can ask him.”. After saying this, he winked at him.

Dan understood Pablo’s hint, “Oh yeah I need help. I want to go to the restroom.”. Then he looked at the male nurse and said, “Please help me to go to the restroom.”.

“Yes Mr. Miller.”, the male nurse nodded and went towards the bed to help Dan get up.

Valda and Maria were busy catching up on all the years they missed. They did not even look at them.

“Honey, I am going to the restroom. I will be back soon.”, Dan said to Maria.

“Whatever.”, Maria ignored her and kept chatting with Valda.

Seeing that she wasn’t bothered about him staying or leaving, Dan breathed a sigh of relief.

“Let’s go quickly.”, Dan said to the male nurse.

The male nurse nodded and helped Dan, who was acting weak, to walk out of the ward. But before they could get close to the ward door. The door was pushed open by someone from outside and a middle-aged woman’s panicked voice rang in the whole ward, “Dad, oh dad. I’m sorry dad. You must forgive me dad. I’m sorry it’s all my fault dad.”.

“OH GOD”, Dan's face got pale.

The woman’s panicked voice attracted Valda and Maria’s attention too.

“This is?”, Valda was confused.

“Juliet is my daughter in law”, Maria said with a cunning smile.

Juliet, who had just come inside the ward, rushed towards Dan and grabbed his hand that was held by the male nurse. She pushed the male nurse aside and cried, “Dad, you must forgive me. I’m sorry. Please don’t be angry. It’s all my fault. I should have been careful. It’s my fault because of which you suffered. I’m sorry dad.”.

“Juliet, calm down. I am fine and it was not your mistake. It was my mistake, I got hospitalized because of my negligence.”, Dan tried to calm down Juliet, but his words triggered her more, “Dad, you are angry with me. That is why you are acting cold to me. Dad, I am sorry. Please don’t be mad at me.”.

All the people, including Dan, were confused by her words. Right now, Dan did not sound like he was angry, but why did she think he was?

While everyone was at a loss, Lance Miller, Dan and Maria’s son, and Juliet’s husband went inside the ward while panting. It looked like he ran all the way here.

“Ju … Juliet, will you calm down, honey.”, Lance said while panting.

Dan saw his son and shouted in anger, “You brat, can’t you even take good care of your wife? Where were you early? Why did she come here all alone? And why have you even brought her here? Hurry up, take her home.”.

“Wu … wu … Dad is angry with us, Lance. What should we do? He doesn’t even want to see me now. Wu … wu .. wu …”, hearing Dan’s angry words Juliet cried more. She tightened her grip on Dan’s arm, she laid her head on Lance's chest and cried.

Lance was in a difficult situation. He looked at his father, then at his wife, who was wailing like someone had died and didn’t know what to do.

Dan was at a loss too. He calmed himself down and tried to coax Juliet, “Juliet dear, listen to me down dad is not angry at you. Dad was worried about you. You came here alone while crying. What if something happens to you? That is why I am scolding Lance. And me getting hospitalized is not your mistake at all. How can I blame you for it, huh? You take care of my health so well, then how can I blame you? It was my mistake. I ate a muffin that had an egg by myself. Therefore, the only person who can be blamed is me, no one else.”.

“No dad, it was my mistake. If I had not allowed Winnie to eat a muffin that had an egg in it, you wouldn’t have eaten it too. But don’t worry, I will forbid Bella from coming home. If Bella does not come home, Winnie will also not come and your health will not be compromised because of her”, Juliet said with determination.

“Nonsense, who allowed you to forbid my granddaughter from coming home?”, Maria said with a grumpy face. Then she turned to look at Dan and scold him, “This is all your fault. Because of you, my granddaughter can’t come home.”.

“This … Juliet, you can’t do this. Bella is my granddaughter, your daughter. How can you forbid her from coming home.”, Dan was at the urge to cry.

“Dad, nothing is more important than your health”, Juliet said.

“Dan Miller, you evil man. You made me leave my country, my family, and my friends. You made me stay all alone in a foreign country. This time when we came back you promised me you would make up for me, but look what you did. Because of you, my precious granddaughter has been abandoned by her own mother.”, Maria cried.

Valda quickly patted Maria’s shoulder to calm her and said, “Maria, please calm down.”, then she looked at Juliet and said, “And Juliet dear. It’s not right. You can’t forbid your daughter to come home because of all this. It was not her mistake.”.

“You ... you must be Aunt Valda. Oh, Aunt Valda, thank you so much for taking care of dad.”, Juliet said to Valda sincerely.

Valda saw Juliet’s sweet smile and finally understood why Maria called her sweet poison. She could see Juliet was sincerely worried about Dan. Her care and worry were all real but her way of dealing with everything was a little overboard.
