DWIGHT HUDSON’S POV “What’s taking you so long?” I asked while looking at the driver. “Sir, a woman is blocking the way,” the driver replied. “Then, get that woman away from there,” I replied. The driver beeped the horn of the car to call the woman’s attention. Then he opened the window and told the woman to go away. So the woman went aside and looked at us. The window in my place was open because I wanted some fresh air. Then I noticed the woman’s eyes staring at me. So I looked at her and our eyes met. She stared at me innocently and didn’t even flinch a bit, even though I was already staring at her. The guards opened the gates, so I focused my eyes on our way. “Tss… Such a waste of time,” I whispered. When we finally passed the fountain, I saw many applicants. “Don’t park here. It’s too crowded. Bring me to the back entrance,” I said to the driver. “Yes, sir,” he replied. Then he did what I told him to do. As soon as he parked the car, I opened the door and went out of it. This time the place was silent, unlike what was at the main entrance. I entered the back entrance and some of the bodyguards greeted and bowed to me. “Sir, there were too many. What should we do about it?” One guard asked while bowing his head. “Let them be. Then tell the head maid to bring me the resumes. I’ll review it later,” I replied. “Yes, sir.” The guard said and bowed again. “Tell the maids to bring me my wine,” I added. Then he nodded and left. I went upstairs to my room and closed the door. I removed my suit and hung it on my seat. Then I saw piles of folders on my table. I tried to open them one by one and realized that these folders were proposals for the company. While reading them, I shook my head. “Such useless proposals!” I exclaimed. I continued reading the other folders and separated those proposals that interested me. Then, after reading all of them, I noticed that the nonsense papers were more than those that would benefit Moonrise. What the hell were those people thinking? What do they think of my company? A trial and error platform? And Secretary Fred allowed them to send these to me? I threw the nonsense folders into the trash bin. And let the others stay at my table. Suddenly, I heard someone knocking on my door. So I opened it. Then I saw a maid carrying a tray of my favorite wine and a wine glass while bowing her head. I grabbed the tray from her and closed the door. Then I disregarded those folders on my table and proceeded to my window. I put the tray on the table beside the window and poured a glass of wine. Near my window, I could see the crowd of applicants outside. It’s getting boring here inside my room, so I think I should just watch those low-lives outside try their luck while drinking wine. I sighed while looking at them. I pity those people. Do they really need to look pitiful like that in order to earn money? Then I started shaking my head while looking at them. Such an eyesore. I put down the glass of wine on the table beside the window. Then I leaned on my bed and closed my eyes. “Master…” “Master…” I opened my eyes and realized that I was sleeping. Then I heard a familiar voice from outside and she was knocking on my door. I stared at the clock hanging on the wall and realized that it was already 11 p.m. I sat on my bed because of that. So I have slept that long already. “Master? I brought the resumes you told me about,” The head maid said while knocking. So I stood up and opened the door. Then I saw her bowing while holding the folders of the applicants. “Are they gone?” I asked while looking at her. “Yes, master,” she replied. “Is the dinner ready?” I asked. “Yes, master,” she replied. “Good. I’ll go there in a minute,” I replied. Then I closed the door. I put the folders of the applicants on the table. Then I removed my clothes and got changed. I went outside the room and walked all the way to the dining room. As soon as I entered the place, I saw the maids bowing and the plates of food on the long table. As soon as I sat down and put the clothes on my collar, I stared at all of them. “You may go,” I said coldly. So they fell in line and went out of the dining room quietly. I was left in the dining room alone. The place had only one chair and a long table. The chair, of course, was only for me. I prefer eating food alone to having company with me. I’m not used to sharing what I have. But I could work with it if it’s necessary. After eating, I stood up and removed the cloth from my collar. As soon as I went out of the dining room, that’s when the maids entered the room again to clean everything. Then I went back into my room again. If you’re asking how I survived this kind of setup, I have gotten used to it already. I prefer being like this and staying inside my room alone. As I entered the room, I realized that I still had to review the resumes being sent to me earlier. So I turned on the lights and sat down in my seat. Then I started reviewing the folders of the applicants. I read their skills earnestly and even looked at the pictures of them. I was testing the water. I was trying to discern if the person could be trusted. If the person doesn’t meet my standards, I throw their folders in the trash bin. Why? What should I do with the folders then? Of course, if it’s nonsense, what should I do? I don’t treasure things that won’t benefit me. I started calling the applicants that interested me. Yes, I personally call them. I was sending them invitations for the hiring process. It’s up to them if they don't believe what I’m saying or what. At least I did my part. I was in the middle of scanning the applicant’s resumes when someone called me. I stared at my phone and sighed as soon as I saw the caller. I lazily answered the phone and turned the loudspeaker on for me to hear him while I was scanning the folders. “Yo, Dwight!” Alexander said in greeting on the other line. “What is it that you want again?” I replied while reading a folder. “What do you mean by that again? This was my first call to you. Didn’t you miss me?” He asked, then laughed after that. I rolled my eyes and pressed the end call button after that. He just called to have nonsense talks with me again. He knew that he could disturb me at this hour. So he’s calling me right now. Then I heard my phone ringing again. I sighed and my temper was rising because of what Alexander was doing. But I pressed the answer button after that. “What?” I said irritatingly. He laughed and replied, “Don’t get mad. I was just calling you because I want to ask if you would pay a visit here at our spot. I’m here with the guys,” he said. “I’m busy so stop bothering me,” I replied. Before he could say another word, I ended the call. After that, he didn’t call back again. Maybe he realized that I don’t need his presence right now. So I continued reading every resume and called those applicants who passed my standards. As of now, I have already called three out of the 35 applicants I had with me. I only have 3 folders on my table. I opened the folder of the next applicant I needed to review. Then I read her resume. As I looked at her picture, I got reminded of who she was. She was the woman who had the confidence to look me eye to eye earlier. I smirked because of that. I think I’ll be needing her. That’s the confidence I need if a person wants to be with me here in the mansion. And while reading her resume, I realized that she really needed the job. Maybe that’s why her reaction earlier was different from the others. This woman interests me. So I started dialing her number. On the first call, she immediately answered it. “Hello, who is this?” She asked. I could feel her husky voice as she answered the call. I didn’t dare to speak for a while and tried to listen to her. But after that, she didn’t speak again. Then the phone call ended. I smirked because of what she did. She’s not fond of talking to strangers, huh? So I called again. “Hello? Who is this?” She asked again. But she kept on answering my calls. I remained silent and listened to her voice. “If you don’t have anything to do in life, just talk to the moon. Maybe it would answer you. Don’t disturb people sleeping this late!” She exclaimed. And because of that, I put the phone a bit away from my ear because her voice was too loud. Then she hangs up again. I laughed a bit because of her reaction. I don’t know but it’s a bit fun to do these things sometimes. Especially if the person you’re pranking is already irritated. After laughing, I tried to call her again but she kept ignoring my calls. I stared at the number and sighed. Okay, enough of this. So I sent her a message that she should answer the call. Then after a few seconds, I called again and she answered. “WHO THE HELL ARE YOU? WHY ARE YOU BOTHERING ME?” She exclaimed as soon as she answered the call. I put the phone away from my ear again and held it tightly because I was getting irritated already. Then I sighed. “Is this Jaime Hearst?” I asked while waiting for her reply. “Y-Yes, who is this anyway?” She replied. Finally, get the conversation straight. “You’re hired. Come to the mansion at 8 a.m. tomorrow. I’ll be waiting.” I said. She became silent because of what I said. She’s unlike others who shouted loudly after what I said. I don’t know if she was glad to accept my offer or what. But I don’t have much time to spend with her. So I hung up the call. After reading the last two folders, I already threw everything in the trash bin. Then I took a shower for me to finally take some rest because I got tired of reviewing those folders. After taking a shower, I went out of the bathroom wearing a towel and was topless. Then I opened the terrace for me to get some fresh air. Then I saw the full moon. It was too bright and because of that, I started grunting. “s**t…” I immediately closed the terrace to prevent its brightness from touching my skin. I didn’t realize that we were having a full moon. I hate that moon! Suddenly, I heard my phone receive a notification. I went to my bed and opened the notification just to check who sent it. Don’t tell me Alexander didn’t give up bothering me. Then I saw that it was an unregistered number but I knew who the sender was. “You should accept your fate, Dwight. No matter what you do, you can’t hide from what you’re destined for.” I smirked and whispered while staring at the message. “Never,” Then I deleted the message.
