CHAPTER 4 BENEATH THE ANCESTRAL HOUSE 🏠

475 Words
Chapter 4: Beneath the Ancestral House The fight ended as quickly as it had begun. Before Victor's men could reach Elena, the sound of approaching police sirens echoed across the countryside. Victor glanced toward the road, his jaw tightening. "This isn't over," he warned. "The bloodline will return to us." With a wave of his hand, the men retreated to their vehicles and disappeared in a cloud of dust. Silence settled over the house once again. Daniel turned to Elena, his mind filled with questions. "You said my father trusted you. Tell me everything." Elena nodded slowly. "Your father and I grew up together. We belonged to the same ancestral family, sworn to protect a secret that had been passed down for centuries. When others sought to use it for power and wealth, he chose to walk away. He knew that one day his child would have to decide the family's future." She held up the brass key. "This is the last piece he left behind." The next morning, Daniel, his mother, and Elena traveled to the ruins of the family's ancestral home. Hidden deep within an overgrown forest, the old mansion stood like a forgotten monument. Cracked walls and broken windows told the story of a place abandoned by time, yet its stone foundation remained unshaken. Inside, dust covered every surface. Portraits of long-dead ancestors stared down from the walls as if guarding the memories of generations. Elena stopped before a large fireplace carved with the family crest. "This is where your father told me to begin." She inserted the brass key into a small lock hidden within the stonework. With a loud grinding sound, the fireplace slowly moved aside. A narrow staircase descended into darkness. Daniel lit a lantern and stepped forward. The air below was cold and still. At the bottom of the stairs lay a circular chamber lined with shelves of ancient books, sealed scrolls, and carefully preserved family records. In the center stood a stone pedestal. Resting upon it was a leather-bound book. Its cover bore a single inscription: THE BOOK OF BLOOD Daniel reached for it, but before his fingers could touch the cover, a familiar voice echoed through the chamber. "I warned you." Victor emerged from the shadows with several armed followers. Someone had betrayed them. His eyes never left the ancient book. "That book will finally belong to its rightful heirs." Daniel looked at Victor, then at the book that had cost generations so much suffering. For the first time, he understood that the greatest battle would not be fought with weapons. It would be fought over the truth—and over the choice of what to do with it. Chapter 4 uncovers the hidden chamber beneath the ancestral home and reveals The Book of Blood, setting the stage for an even greater confrontation in Chapter 5.
