A Hectic Training Day At The Martial Arts Gym.

1742 Words
I woke up this morning, feeling upbeat about the forthcoming events for today, being another Saturday and for the rest of the weekend. I usually do look forward greatly to the coming of the weekends because they provide me the much needed relief . Apart from giving me longer hours to enjoy my sleep, it would also give me ample time to do all my chores that i wouldn’t be able to do during week days. And i have a lot of these chores on my hands today. As a work free day, it’s surely an opportunity for me to watch lots of my favorite movies, Tv programs and do other things that catch my fancy. My kitchen and living room both needed to be cleaned. They have accumulated so much dirt that it looks as if they’ve not been cleaned for years. Truly, I’ve not been regular with their cleaning. After i might have done all of that, i would prepare breakfast, I could also receive a call from either Alpha Jones or my Aunt Debbie. Most importantly, i would have to go for my Mixed Martial Arts training lessons, though that would be later in the afternoon. My training session today would be very hectic; I've got a premonition about that. Also, my trainer had hinted on the day of my registration that since i had only one day training per week, he might increase my number of hours from two to three. Who knows? He might begin the implementation of that from today. I got down from my bed to do some exercises as recommended by my trainer. I started with push-ups and combined it with other strenuous workouts. In about thirty minutes, i was done. After the exercise session, i immediately commenced the cleaning of my kitchen. I swept the floor thoroughly, not forgetting the edges and under my appliances. I then filled a bucket with warm water, adding dish washing detergent to take care of greasy spots. Armed with my mop, i mopped the floor while rinsing frequently. After rinsing, i moved to the living room to begin cleaning. In the sitting room, I started by picking up every thrash and stuffing them into a trash bag which i had brought with me. Then I collected all my cluttered items like papers, books and video games into a laundry basket. As soon as i finished, i surveyed the living room, and put back the items at the places where they belong. I was careful to remember where i took every item from. I then continued the cleaning by straitening up the Sofa, cushions and then using the vacuum cleaner to pick up crumbs, pieces of hair and lint on the upholstery. Next, i moved to one of the most tedious aspects of the work: dusting of surfaces. I took a damp piece of cloth and began to dust major surfaces. I started with the coffee table, TV and shelves. I did a thorough spot clean on some of the surfaces to remove finger prints. Next, i moved on to clean the ceiling fan and light fixtures, removing all cobwebs from them and the corners of the walls. After i was done with this, i vacuumed the drapes, curtains and window blinds, one after the other.. The floor was the last to be cleaned. I deliberately left it for last. I vacuumed the floor, starting from the farthest corners, and vacuumed my way out of the room, as i would usually do when mopping. I had already sprinkled the carpet with a little baking Soda before i started the vacuuming to take care of any unpleasant odors. It took me roughly thirty minutes to complete the cleaning of the living room. After i was done, i took a look at the neatly arranged room and felt a massive wave of joy and satisfaction flowing through me. I almost clapped for myself. My next move was to plop on my newly cleaned sofa. I heaved a sigh of satisfaction, briefly closing my eyes to take in as much of the new environment as possible. I then decided to rest for a few minutes to gather my thoughts and decide on what next to do. After about five minutes, i stood up, yawned, and turned my neck sideways to and fro about 3 or 4 times before making my way to the kitchen. I opened my refrigerator and brought out a can of orange juice. I glanced quickly around the kitchen and nodded, seeing how clean and well arranged everything stood. The floor, which was already dry was glistening. I surely deserved to reward myself for the very good job i had done this morning, i thought to myself, as i continued sipping my juice directly from the can. On a normal day, i would have preferred giving myself a treat with a can of beer, but it was way too early for me to take beer, so i had to make do with the juice. Too soon, l had completely emptied the can. As if acting on an impulse, i decided there and then to start preparing my breakfast. I immediately put on my stove, brought out a clean pot from a cabinet and commenced the cooking. The choice of food was not a problem; i had already decided to have Bacon, Cheese and Eggs for breakfast this morning. As i moved to the refrigerator to pick some other ingredients, my phone rang. A quick look at the screen revealed the caller’s ID to be Aunt Debbie. I had actually expected that she would call, so i didn’t leave my phone in the living room as i usually do at times. I immediately turned on my special wolf instinct and abilities before picking the call, to ensure the food does not get burnt before i finish with the call. Wolves have some special abilities which humans do not have. One of them is the ability to sense danger or have an inkling when something untoward is about to occur. “Hello, Aunty” I greeted. “Hello, Naomi, how are you today?” “Fine, and you, Aunty?” “Fine, my dear. So, what are you doing now?” “I’m preparing breakfast, aunty. And after a while, I’ll go for my Mixed Martial Arts Training class.” “Good. Keep at it just as we have discussed. You would soon begin to train the Wolves in your Pack” “Has Alpha Jones been communicating with you?” i asked.. “Yes, we have been talking,” she replied, “He wishes you would relocate to Tacoma as quickly as possible to take your place in the Pack community. He is very hopeful that your boss will approve your transfer request very soon.” “Ok, aunty,” i said. With that, she ended the call. My Aunty it was who mooted the idea of my enrolling in a Martial Arts training program to keep me abreast of the latest fighting techniques to prepare me for the position of Delta  and an efficient warrior in the Shiny Ivory Pack. We had both agreed that there was no way i would be an insignificant member in a Pack my father founded. The die would be cast. I would have to be the third ranking member no matter what was already in place. Well, i don’t care if someone would be removed to create room for me. That agreement prompted my decision to go and enroll for a one-day-a-week schedule of training at the Mixed Martial Arts center in downtown Seattle. It’s now two months since i started the workouts. Today is a training day and i would be there at the appointed time. Food was soon ready and i ate it right on the living room sofa with the tray on my lap. Thereafter, i took the dirty dishes and cups back into the kitchen sink to be washed later. As soon as i was done piling the plates in the sink, i moved back to the sitting room and plopped into the Sofa. After a few minutes, i moved to the entertainment center to play some music. I then lay down on the sofa to relax. I remained there for many hours, listening to music and watching television interchangeably, only going to the kitchen to fetch drinks and some snacks when I felt like eating something for lunch. As soon as it was time, i put on my training apparel and moved out of my apartment, making my way to the gym. I was welcomed by the instructor, Sam Jenson, a young man who looked to be in his thirties. A tall man, he had brown, well trimmed hair reaching his neck. He had blue eyes, a flat nose and well rounded lips. An ever smiling man, he was well loved by almost every member at the gym. When the whole class had gathered, he spoke. “Today we shall follow our normal training schedule. No specialized sessions. We would have a little of everything we do here, ok? We all nodded in unison. For the next two hours, we were taken through gruelling sessions of Kick boxing, Boxing, Wrestling, Jump ropes, Martial Arts, battle ropes, sprinting and body weight exercises. I must confess the training was very hectic. At the end of the day’s session, i made my way out of the gym and headed home. I was tired and famished by the time i entered my apartment through the front door. My first reaction was to plop on my Sofa to catch some rest and clear my thoughts before deciding on the next thing to do. After resting for what seemed like 30 minutes, i brought out my phone, called my favorite restaurant and ordered for food. There was no way i would be able to prepare dinner tonight. After a short wait, my food arrived together with the desserts. Since the food was brought in a box, i moved into my kitchen, got some plates and had them properly served. I ate the Pizza right on my Sofa. It was very delicious and its combination with the desserts had a soothing effect on my nerves. As soon as i was done with the dinner, I went into my bedroom, mounted my bed to rest my body and mind.. Within minutes, i had slept off.
