The car stopped in front of my apartment. I got down, paid my fare and the driver drove away. As i opened my front door and stepped into my apartment, a sudden feeling of inner joy and satisfaction overwhelmed me. It felt like a heavy load had been lifted off my shoulders. I felt very relieved. The mere feeling that i had worked up enough courage to tell Richard to his face that the relationship was over was very pleasing to me. For me, what i did this morning was not trivial as some people may like to see it, but I see it as an achievement of monumental proportions. My greatest worry since it dawned on me that I had no option but to end the dalliance with Richard was how to tell him. Now, all of those fears and worries are gone. I’m finally free! I was so happy that i was tempted to call Aunty Debbie right away and break the news to her, but on second thought, I decided to put it off until later, or when next she calls me. Yes, I might not call my Aunty now, but I would surely find a way of celebrating it in my own. I finally decided to celebrate it with some beer. Thankfully, it’s not too early to take beer with the time approaching 11:30. I was still on my living room Sofa, relaxing and enjoying the moment.
First, i moved from the sitting room to my bedroom to change. I removed my skirt and blouse and replaced them with a Tank top and a pair of jeans shorts. Those were the clothes I would have on until later in the afternoon when it would be time to go to the gym for my Mixed Martial Arts training. So i went into the kitchen to get myself some beer. I opened my refrigerator and brought out two cans of beer, placed them on a tray and headed back to the sitting room. Once i arrived in the sitting room, i dropped the tray and its contents on a short stool and plopped on the Sofa. I sighed heavily as i stretched my hand to take one of the cans. I sipped directly. Of course i didn’t bring any cups from the kitchen. Feeling the need to spice up the atmosphere with some good music, I walked across to my entertainment center where I slotted in one of my favorite R&B songs. As the music played, I continued to sip my beer slowly but steadily. Soon, i had emptied the contents. Tossed it aside and reached for the second one.
I opened the second can and continued sipping from it while listening to music. Within the next 10 minutes, i had drunk all the contents of the second can. I took the tray and the cans back to the kitchen where I dropped the empty cans into the trash bag. Then i kept the tray for washing. I immediately returned to the living room. As i sank back into the Sofa, i could not help but reflect on the events that happened in the morning between me and Richard. I knew quite well before I went to the Pack that he would play the sentiment card and I had resolved that i would be in no mood to accept that. And he actually did when he insinuated that it was Aunty Debbie that instigated the break up. Poor Richard, he was terribly devastated but there was nothing i could do about it. Since re-uniting with my Pack, my priorities have changed. I’m no more searching for a mate. As a matter of fact, the issue of romance has been thrown aside. My main priority now that I've found my Pack is to be the Delta, which I'm very sure i will be as soon as i move back to Tacoma. Flowing from that, my main focus from now on would be to see to it how i would train the wolves of the Shiny Ivory Pack to become a formidable and efficient fighting force that would be able to attacks from any rival Pack or even rogue wolves. I had committed myself to that duty. It was what informed my decision to enroll at the Mixed Martial Arts Center so that whatever i learned there would be imparted on my fellow wolves.
As i continued to process my thoughts about the events of the morning, i started to feel the need to eat something. Hunger had began to take its toll. Very soon, i would have to hit the kitchen to prepare lunch for myself. I had settled for Tuna Mayo Sandwich for lunch. I quickly stood up and headed for the kitchen to start preparing the food. I had all the ingredients available in my refrigerator because it’s one of my favorite Sandwiches. I took a medium sized bowl and mixed the Tuna, celery, onion, mayonnaise, lemon juice, salt and pepper together. Then i spread the Tuna mixture on 4 slices of bread. Finally, i topped each slice with the remaining bread. That was the simple Tuna Mayo Salad sandwich. I served it on a tray and took it to the dining table. After dropping it on the table, i went back to the kitchen and took a bottle of Soda to go with the food.
The food was very tasty. I enjoyed bite after bite while the Soda went very well with it. After the meal, i cleared the mess, taking them back to the kitchen to be taken care of later. Time to go to the Martial Arts Gym was drawing closer. I went into bedroom to rest for a little while before heading there. I sighed deeply twice before plopping into the bed. I rolled from edge of the bed to the other to try put my body in tune to catch some sleep. I had set the alarm of my clock and placed it close to myself on the bed to wake me up so i will not oversleep.
I must have slept for no more than one hour when i was suddenly jolted back to reality by the jarring sound of the alarm clock. I dragged myself reluctantly out of bed, wiped my sleepy eyes with the back of my left hand and headed to the bathroom. I needed to empty my bladder. The sheer volume of urine that came out of my body convinced me that i must have suppressed this desire for quite a while. Thankfully, the alarm came to my rescue. I finished my business in the bathroom and headed back to my bedroom to get prepared for the training at the martial Arts gym. I had dropped into the center on my back home from work on Tuesday to pick up the form and complete all the necessary registration formalities. Today would be my first full day of training and I’m really looking forward to a great experience. I entered my closet and brought out my sweat pant, a Tee shirt and a sports shoe. I put them on and prepared to leave the house for the Mixed Martial Arts Center. After ensuring that everything was ok, i stepped out of the house and locked my front door.
I arrived at the center just some 10 minutes to the start of training. I was welcomed by the instructor, Sam Jensen who had earlier attended to me when I came to register on Tuesday. “You are welcome to your first full day of training at The Mixed Martial Arts Center.” He said with a wide smile on his face. “As the name implies, we teach virtually all the Martial Arts and a few other complementary sports which would help you tremendously for self defence whenever you graduate from here. Here we teach Kick boxing, Boxing, wrestling, jump ropes, Martial Arts, Battle ropes, Sprinting, Body weight exercises, among others. So you see that by the time you finish from here, you will be an excellent, all-round fighter. That is how comprehensive our training is here. I want to state that the results you will get would depend on your determination and dedication to your training. I want to believe that since you have only one day in a week to train, you will give it your best shot,” He said. I nodded my head and said, “Yes Sir.” He motioned to a group of men and women who had already gathered and told me, “Join them there.” I moved across the hall and took my position among them.
Sam Jensen, the instructor, iwas a young man who looked to be in his late thirties, by my estimation. A tall man, he had brown, well trimmed hair which flowed down his neck. He had blue eyes, a flat nose and well rounded lips. An ever smiling man, he appeared to be well loved by every member of the gym. He was wearing a T-shirt and a sweat pant.
The training commenced at the scheduled time. We were trained in all aspects of fighting and self defence just as the instructor had told me. We were also put through some body building and other conditioning exercises. After two gruelling hours of training, the day’s schedule was over. I went over to the instructor’s office to say hello to him before going home. “How was the training session, Naomi,” he asked, smiling. “Very tough sir,” i replied. “Yep, that’s how it should be,” he said with a chuckle. “You would soon get used to it. It is a gradual process,” he noted. I nodded in agreement. “Ok, have a very nice evening and don’t miss your next training day,” he concluded. “Okay, Thank you sir,” i replied as i moved out of his office.
I arrived back at my apartment at about a few minutes past 7 PM. The first thing i did after pulling off my training clothes was to go into the bathroom to have a bath. I filled my Bath tub with hot water and gave myself a very good bath. I only came out of the tub when the water became cold. I moved back into the bedroom and put on casual wear consisting of a T-Shirt and jeans short. I then rested my body for about 30 minutes before heading to the kitchen to cook dinner.
Upon getting into the kitchen, i raided my refrigerator to put together ingredients for a very quick dinner. After a nerve wracking selection process, i was able to cook myself a seafood-based dinner. I served it and took it to the living room where i devoured it accompanied with a bottle of orange juice. After the meal, i cleared the mess then took the plates and residue to the kitchen. Then i went straight to my bedroom to rest my body for the evening. I began to read one of my favourite novels to while away the rest of the evening before bed time. I was still reading the book when i dozed off.
