I reached my bedroom and at once pulled off the night gown that had been on me since i woke up. I put it among the other dirty clothes that were in the laundry hamper placed in my closet. Those clothes are already due for the washing machine but i had not really been able to squeeze out the time to perform that simple chore. Lately, I've been too busy to even think of clothes that should be put in the washing machine. And besides, since i had other alternatives, i didn’t think it was urgent. Very likely i would be able to do that when i return from the hairdressing salon. I took a towel from the closet, tied it round my waist and headed to the bathroom, humming one of my favorite Pop songs . As soon as i got there, i adjusted the shower temperature to warm, got under the spray and turned the faucet. I started to wash myself as the warm water cascaded over me from my head right down to the sole of my feet. First, i did a quick rinse of all parts of my body without applying soap. Using a wash cloth, i applied Body wash to my body. I started to wash from my neck all the way down to my legs and toes. I then rinsed out all soapy residues. I didn’t wash my hair. I left that for my hairdresser to do if she finds it necessary. Soon, i was done. It was a quick shower I towel-dried my body thoroughly, removing every single drop of water. Then i tied my towel around my waist and headed back into my bedroom.
Once back in my bedroom, i entered my closet and began searching for appropriate clothing to wear. I looked through all the clothes that were hanging, all a careful contemplation; i chose a yellow pant and one of my favorite red tops. I slid them on one by one. After a second thought, i pulled off the red top and wore a tank top under it before putting it on again. Then i took my brown covered shoes and put them on. As i stood in front of my full sized bedroom mirror, i took a brush and brushed my hair backwards; taking note of loose strands of hair and using my two hands to tuck them back to the back of my ear.I applied the necessary lotions and creams to my face. Then i applied a generous amount of lipstick to my lips. After inspecting my appearance thoroughly from the front, i turned my back to the mirror to take a good look at my features from the back. Everything looked ok. I turned again to face the mirror, and after satisfying myself that my dressing was ok, i went out of my apartment, locked the front door and left for the salon.
I reached the salon about 15 minutes after i left my apartment. Traffic was light, being a Sunday, there were no traffic hold-ups. As i entered the salon through the front door, i was welcomed by my hairdresser, Miss Louisa Goldberg. She smiled, waved one of her hands at me and motioned me to a seat. She was attending to a customer, so i had to wait to take my turn. “You are very welcome, Miss Smith,” she said, flashing another smile. “I have actually been waiting for you. I hope you didn’t encounter any problems getting here?” I returned her smile and shook my head. “No, there were no problems, everything happened smoothly,” i replied. “Good,” she said, nodding her head. “You would soon take your turn; just give me a few minutes more.” It was my turn to nod. I nodded and made myself as comfortable as i could on the Couch where i sat.
Miss Goldberg had been my preferred hairdresser since i came to Seattle. I have not had any cause to change her. She is a tall woman, about forty years old by my estimation.. She had long, black hair pulled into a Ponytail. Her blue eyes, pointed nose and lush, well formed lips all sat well on her oval shaped face. From my past interactions with her, i got to know that she had never been married.. As i waited patiently for my turn, i crossed my legs and took a deep breath to soak in more of the cozy atmosphere. While still waiting for my turn, i took a quick look around the fairly expansive hall. It was very well lit. The walls were done in blue shade, very attractive to behold. Scattered around the hall but very well arranged were different types of hair dressing equipment. Visitors chairs and other items of furniture were placed at strategic areas within the hall. I continued to admire the interior of the hall for a few more minutes until she called my attention, motioning for me to come over. It was now my turn.
“How do you want your hair done?” she asked after i had moved over to take my seat? I ran my fingers through my hair and replied, “Straighten it and make it smoother. “Ok’” she said and immediately set about doing the job. First, she washed my hair thoroughly with Shmpoo and rinsed it several times. to remove all the dirt in the hair. Then she applied conditioner and rinsed it again thoroughly. As a matter of fact, she continued to rinse until every single trace of it had been rinsed out. The next thing she did was to comb my hair thoroughly, starting from the top and going down to the base of the hair. When she got to the drying stage, she applied the dryer and got it well dried. As soon as she was through with that, she moved to the critical stage of Straightening, where she applied the strengtheners to achieve a great outcome. She went through one last process and within a few more minutes, she was done. I looked at myself in the mirror as soon as she was done, and i could not help but gush at the wonderwork she had done. She actually lived up to her billing as a professional. I gave her some dollar bills as tip for excellent service and moved out of the salon.
I arrived bac to my apartment a bit tired, but not very exhausted. The visit to the hairdresser had been worthwhile. My hair which looked so disheveled and scraggy now wore a new look. They were now straightened and smooth. My face itself now looked better, thanks to the ingenuity of Miss Goldberg. I heaved a sigh of relief, plopped on my living room Sofa to catch my breath and plan the rest of the day’s activities. The time was about 12:30 in the afternoon. What immediately came to my mind was to see to the preparation of lunch. But first, i had to go to my bedroom to change my clothes. I stood up from the Sofa and made my way slowly to my bedroom.
Upon entering my bedroom, i entered my closet and removed my slacks and the blouse, leaving my Tank Top on. Then i fished out a short which i put on immediately. I had to rest at least 5 minutes in the room before hitting the kitchen to prepare lunch. So i laid on my bed and let the soft mattress and cozy bedspread massage my body for a little while. After about 10 minutes of processing my thoughts while rolling from one edge of the bed to the other, i stood up and proceeded to the kitchen. I had decided to prepare Ham Sandwich for lunch.
At the kitchen, i started to make the Sandwich. First, i spread one slice of bread with Mustards, then spread the other side with Mayonnaise. I then laid the lettuce over one of the slices of bread and topped it with the Ham and Pickles. After that, i closed the Sandwich and cut it in half. And it was ready to be served. I served it, put the dishes on a tray and carried it to the dining table. At the table, i devoured it, enjoying bite after bite. It was very crunchy.. I accompanied it with two bottles of fruit juice. After the very heavy meal, i cleared the mess and took the residue to the kitchen. I then returned to the sitting room to rest on the Sofa. I lay on the Sofa for quite a while, and then slept off.
I must have slept for hours on end because by the time i woke up, it was already time for dinner. Time was already approaching 7.pm. For dinner, i decided to have Seafood Chowder. i raided my refrigerator and got ingredients to prepare the dish. After putting together the various ingredients, i put on my Stove and placed a cooking pan on it. Then i cooked the Onionin Butter until it became tender. I added Oil bay seasoning plus time and cooked it for about 2-3 minutes. After that, i added Carrot, Celery, Potato, corn, broth and Wine, then brought it to a boil. Then i reduced the heat and simmered it for another 10 minutes. To get a good taste, I stirred it in seafood and cream. Then i stirred it in Parsley and seasoned it with Salt and pepper to taste. Wow, I had been able to prepare a perfect Seafood Chowder dish which proved to be very delicious. I served it and decided that i would eat it in the living room Sofa rather than on the dining table, for a change. I accompanied the food with two cans of Soda. After dinner, i watched television and listened to music before retiring to my bedroom for the night.
