Naomi Prepares To Return To Seattle.

“Umm, it has been quite a tiring but highly successful day,” said Aunty Debbie as she sighed deeply and sank heavily into the Sectional sofa in the living room. I watched her as she positioned herself properly in a lying position. She had quickly pulled off her shoes and relaxed face up, looking at the ceiling. She took another deep breath as she made herself more comfortable. I wouldn’t be surprised if she slept off in that position of absolute comfort. But i hoped she wouldn’t because i would like for us to have ample time to discuss before i return to Seattle tonight. Yes, i would still have to go back to Seattle tonight to resume work tomorrow, being a Monday. I moved to my bedroom to rest my tired body for a while. I decided not to rest on a couch in the sitting room to give my Aunty some privacy and for me to be able to rest for a little while before she calls for me. Yes, i know she would sooner than later call for me to start to do some household chores. Indeed, there was a lot to be done.

Once in my bedroom, i pulled off my slacks, my top blouse and my shoes, then ransacked my closet for a casual wear to put on at least until I’m ready to leave when i will have to change back to conventional clothing again. I pulled out a T-Shirt and jeans short, put them on quickly and plopped on the bed. I sighed deeply about three times, lying face up and began to reflect deeply on the events that happened at the Pack community. I turned my face towards the wall and moved closer, feeling the wall with my hands for effect. After feeling the wall for a few moments, i turned my face and rolled my body to the other side of the bed, letting the softness of the mattress and the cozy touch of the bedspread to massage my body. Within a few minutes, i was fast asleep.

I must have slept for about thirty minutes or thereabout when i heard the voice of Aunty Debbie calling out. I sat up, rubbed my sleepy face with the back of my left hand and answered, “Aunty, I’m right on my way,” as i made my way towards the living room. When i got to the living room, Aunty Debbie was sitting on the Sofa holding and playing with Leo, our lovely cat.”My lovely pet is very hungry, almost famished. Looking as if it has not eaten for days. Go into the kitchen an get me its food. You will see it in one of the kitchen cabinets.” She instructed. I turned and moved into thekitchen to fetch something for the cat.

Once i had located the pre-cooked and well wrapped food, i quickly packaged it and brought it into the living room. I went ahead to serve it and Leo descended on it, attacking it voraciously. Leo was the new cat obtained by Aunty Debbie to replace Milo who was hit by a car after she strayed out of the house and went into the highway. No one knew the circumstances by which it met it’s untimely death, but it;s body was found by the side of the road about 24 hours after Aunty Debbie had commenced an intensive search for it. Both cats have similarities: The deep black color of their furs and the brown eyes that characterize them both. Only that Leo is a much younger version of Milo. As soon as it finished the food, Leo wagged its tail and went out of the house, apparently moving through the kitchen when me and Aunty Debbie were not looking in its direction. “Just when you think you’ve got these animals under control, that’s when you realize that it’s hard to keep them under wraps.” Said  Aunty Debbie when she realized that Leo had slipped away. “That’s the way with these pets,” i replied. “They could be so hard to keep in check, at times.” My Aunty took a deep breath, cupped her chin briefly  with her right hand and nodded. “I only hope it doesn’t go the way of Milo,” Aunty Debbie concluded. “I hope so too,” i responded.

“Naomi, could you prepare Egg Mayo Sandwich for us? Lunch is overdue and i feel like having this particular Sandwich for Lunch. I’m just wondering whether you know how to prepare it.” I looked at my Aunty and gave her a very confident smile. “Of course, i know how to prepare it,” I replied. “There is hardly any food eaten in this state that i don’t know how to prepare.” She smiled and nodded. “Okay, go right into the kitchen and start to get it ready. All the things you will need are in the refrigerator. Since we are a little late in preparing Lunch, i think you should use the Microwave oven to make it faster. There will still be ample time for you to prepare and eat dinner before you go back to Seattle tonight. You will have to be a night Owl because you have to resume at the office tomorrow morning. So you’ll take the evening bus as we have already decided.” I smiled and nodded in agreement, then headed quickly for the kitchen to start preparing the food.

As soon as i got into the kitchen, i opened the refrigerator and began to raid it to assemble all the items needed. Everything was inside just as Aunty Debbie had said. After getting everything together, i started to do the dishes. I had dumped our plates in the sink after breakfast as there was scarcely enough time to wash them before we set out, though it wouldn’t be much work for me. I started with the pots. I washed, rinsed and dried them, then proceeded to do the same thing with the plates, cups and spoons. Within 15 minutes, i was done with the dishes and silverware. Then i proceeded with the cooking proper.After mixing the necessary ingredients into the pots, i put on the Microwave and placed the pots on them at intervals. Cooking time was greatly reduced as the food was ready in less than hour. Just as i was about to go announce to Aunty Debbie that i was done, she walked into the kitchen. She smiled appreciatively, patting me on my back. “You have done a great job,” She complimented. The aroma I’m perceiving goes a long way to prove that you did it correctly. I can’t wait for the food to beserved.” I blushed at her compliment and nodded. Thank you, Aunty’” i replied. “Bring out the plates from the cabinets. I know you have already arranged them, putting each of them where they belonged.

I opened the cabinets brought out the plates and Aunty Debbie started to serve the food. After i began to take the two trays to the dining area one by one. After placing the trays on the table, i went back to the kitchen to fetch our drinks. I took two bottles of Soda and headed back to the dining area. By then, Aunty was already comfortably seated. We proceeded to eat silently. Only the sounds of our mouths munching away and the sounds of our forks hitting the plates were audible. After a short while, the silence became unbearable for me and i spoke. “when we were driving within the Pack community, i noticed some old wolves moving around the community. There were both men and women. Could it be possible that you knew some of them and they also still recognized you?” Aunty Debbie’s face brightened and her lips curved up into a smile. “Yes, you are right, Naomi. I knew and still recognize some of the older wolves that you saw in the Pack community. Several of them actually showed recognition and we greeted, but you may not notice because none of them actually came forward to greet me where i sat but we made faces at one another.” I looked into her eyes and nodded. “But Aunty, did you not feel out of place when we wanted to run and Alpha Jones asked you to go into his office to wait for us?”

“Not at all,” She replied. “i’m always comfortable among wolves as you may have known by now. I didn’t feel awkward at all. My decision to remain a human was a deliberate one. Even your father, as the then Alpha tried everything possible to convert me into a Wolf but i remained adamant. When he saw that i would not budge, he left me alone. So I’m content with knowing everything about Wolves, but remaining a human,” She said, putting up a straight face. At this stage, i decided not to ask any more questions, opting to let the matter rest. I didn’t want to risk upsetting her if i probed any further. I nodded my head and said, “Ok, Aunty.” We soon finished our food and retired into the sitting room to watch some videos to while away the time.

I moved over to the TV/Entertainment center and slotted in one of my favorite movies, “10 things i hate about you.” The movie supposed to be set in Seattle, but most of the scenes took place in Tacoma. Not only I and Aunty Debbie love the movie, but almost the entire city. It was a massive project during the filming, according to the story. It was said that almost half of the households in Tacoma provided someone who acted as an extra.

In the story, new student Cameron is smitten with Bianca and in order to get around her father’s strict rule on dating which states that she cannot date unless her older sister, Kat also has a boyfriend, attempts to get bad boy Patrick to date Bianca’s ill-tempered sister. The film, which is a romance- comedy, runs for about two hours. I and Aunty Debbie watched it with keen interest, even though it’s not our first time of doing so. It is a good adaptation of Shakespeare’s “The taming of the Shrew” and i sat through all of it enjoying its spectacular scenes. As soon as it ended, i took leave of Aunty Debbie and moved into my room to have a short rest before it would be time for me to prepare dinner. I plopped on my bed, yawned twice, and laid on my back, trying as much as possible to be fully relaxed. A few minutes later, i dozed off.
