Chapter 4 Matthias looked up when a knock sounded at his study door, indignation and then anger sweeping through him. His butler had ushered his man-of-affairs, George Fiske, into the study barely a half-hour earlier and the staff knew better than to interrupt him in the middle of such a meeting.
