Nick thought nothing could be more exciting than his first encounter with Matthias, but already the second was even more so. It was not lost on Nick that Matthias hadn’t even asked whether he preferred his own coach, whether he even wanted to join Matthias. Instead, Matthias had simply dismissed Nick’s coach and driver for the night and helped Nick—none too gently—into his sleek black vehicle.
Nick had no time to settle himself on the cushions before Matthias—standing as much as was possible inside a coach—had him by the lapels of his coat and had given him several sharp shakes. “Are you mad? What the devil were you thinking?” Then his mouth came crushing down on Nick’s, leaving him little opportunity to think, let alone speak.
