Matthias stared at the man seated next to him without speaking, difficult though it was. From the moment the rest of the party vacated the table, Lamotte had been spewing vitriol about Matthias’ business practices, his birth, his parents, and his habits in the bedroom. As much as Matthias might have wanted to correct him, he maintained his silence and fixed his unblinking gaze on the agitated man, something he knew could prove unnerving even to those of a calm temperament.
