Chapter 21

Cam’s Point of View:

“We can resume the tutorial tomorrow if you want to. It is late and maybe your parents are already worried.” I suggested. We are still travelling and I think we are already halfway.

“No, it is okay. I already told them whenever they went home and I am still not there, I am at your house.” He replied.

“Are they always went home late?” I asked curiosly.

“Nope. They are both busy in the camp but they have rules, to went home on time. Unless there are urgent meetings and missions. But lately, they are going home late at night or sometimes they went out even if the sun does not set yet.” I automatically turned my head to face Nicolai when he said that.

I think I need to confirm something. I believe that something is not good that is why they are this busy.

“My parents and my grandparents are also the same. They value much eating together as a family but lately, we barely eat together. They are going home late at night and woke up early to go to the Capitol.” I said while thinking of something.

“What are you trying to imply?” Nicolai asked while his focus is still on the way.

“That there is something going on that we do not know.” I said. “Or should I just say, I am the only one who do not know because I know nothing about this island in the first place?” I added while looking at him. He glances at me and turned his attention back on the way.

“I know nothing.” He said. Should I believe him well in fact he is the one who said that I am the only one who knows nothing. “I am actually having thought about it. Last night, my aunt called at home. She said our grandmother was not in good shape after attending the urgent meeting of the council. I am also thinking that there is going on.” He said that catches my attention. So, I am not the only one who thinks of it.

“What are your thoughts?” I asked.

Nicolai looked at me for a while before opening his mouth to say something. “That there is someone who entered the vicinity without consent.” He said.

I creased my forehead to what I heard.

“I don’t know if is it right to tell you that. But every vehicles, may it be water or aerial, have a registered stickers that the barrier can identify. If the barrier rejects a vehicle, it is an uninvited guests. The barrier will send an alarm to the security system of the capitol. That is how genius your parents and grandparents are. They are the ones who gave protection to the people of Arcillana and it resources that might be used for greed or power.” He explained. I could not utter a word. I was amaze of what Nicolai said. I am looking up my parents even more. That is why people of Arcillana gives so much respect to them too. And I realized how much my family and the other council loves the island and its people. Based on what Nicolai said that happened to his grandmother, they are indeed willing to risk their lives just to protect Arcillana.

Nicolai beeped at the huge gate of our residence. Two guards went out of the guard house and knocked on the window of Nicolai’s car.

“It’s me.” I said when Nicolai lower the window pane.

“Good evening Young Lady, Young Master.” The guard greeted and bowed.

“Open the gate, it is Young Lady Camelle.” He said to his fellow. They immediately open it up and Nicolai drove his car going inside.

“Thank you for the ride. Let’s go.” I said and invited him in our home.

It is already pass seven and no one is in the living room. I scan the ground floor and there is no people in here. I was about to call my brother when I heard voices coming from the second floor, probably taking their path going down.

“Mom? Dad?” Nicolai said when he saw his parents coming down with my family except the twins.

“Good evening.” I greeted them and bowed down our head.

“You two are here already. Thank you for bringing our Camelle home. I think before you go upstairs we should eat our dinner so at least you can rest for a while.” My grandmother suggests.

I have not able to change my clothes and we went to the dining area. Nicolai’s parents will be joining us. Our parents called the twins so we could have eat our dinner.

“By the way son, I was about to call you that we won’t be home tonight and you could go to your grandmother’s place but since you were here already I suggest that you stay here overnight because it is too late for you to drive way to your grandmother’s house.” Nicolai’s mom suggested in the middle of our dinner.

“It is okay Mom, I can handle myself.” Nicolai replied rejecting her mom’s suggestion.

“Hijo your Mom is right. This is for your safety. Our home is always welcome for a friend. Consider this as you home as well.” My grandfather said.

“It is best if you stay here son, no one’s home in our house except the maids and the guards. Your siblings are on your grandmother’s house.” His dad seconded. “We have an uninvited guests. We are trying to catch those mice.” He added. I looked at Nicolai’s father and he is serious.

I was right. We were right. Something is going on and it is not good.

“We have a lot of vacant rooms here hijo. You can occupy one in the third floor. It is were the kids room were located.” Mom said.

Nicolai does not have any choice but to agree in what they have said. According to our parents, primary’s classes were suspended tomorrow and the military were having their patrol starting tonight. Everyone in the Capitol were working almost twentyfour hours to catch the uninvited guests of Arcillana.

After the dinner our parents bid their goodbyes and travelled their way to the Capitol. We changed first before proceeding to the lessons I need to take tonight. My brother let Nicolai used his unused clothes.

“What do you think is the intention of those uninvited guests? And where do you think they know that there is an island existing in here?” I asked Nicolai while solving a math problem. He is in front of his laptop working on the submitted reports for today’s marketing. I think we will be having a meeting again tomorrow for the financial report.

“No idea.” He just replied.

“Do you think there is a mole inside the island? A spy?” I asked once more. He stopped what is he doing and faced me.

“Who would dare?” He replied.

I shrugged my shoulder saying I do not have any idea as well.

I finished the problem and Nicolai checked it for me. I feel proud when I got it perfect. We decided to have another subject for one hour.

I am in the middle of answering the test paper when we heard three consecutive knocks.

The door opened and it showed the twins. Dark was holding his laptop while heading his way to us and Light followed.

“We have something to show you.” Dark said and showed us the screen of the laptop.

“I heard earlier that mom and dad can’t track the CCTV footage in this area because it was detected broken. I hacked the security system in the Capitol and found this.” Dark explained. I put my palm on my face after hearing his words.

“Dad clearly told you to stop hacking any system D, you are not listening!” I said.

“His curiosity strikes again.” Light chuckled.

“Kid, how did you get it if the CCTV camera were broken in that area?” Nicolai asked.

“I am not a kid Mister. My name is Prince Dark Montidalgo and you should call me Dark.” My little brother said.

“And I am Princess Light Montidalgo and you can call me Light Mister handsome.” Light butted in. I wanted to scold them but Nicolai chuckled.

“Okay okay I am sorry. Can you tell me how did you get it?”

“Like I told you earlier I hacked the security system of the Capitol. They should fire the one who is in charge in this area because he or she is probably a traitor. The CCTV camera is not broken. That person lied and I think is an accomplice. He or she is about to delete this copy but too bad I am faster.” He further explained. This boosts his confidence more. He is faster than an adult.

I called our brother to go down here in the study room and he immediately came. We also called for our grandparents to discuss this matter.

Grandpa told Nicolai to call his father. Good thing that they were in the Capitol. They were shocked to hear the news. Good thing that the traitor is still there and he was cornered. Nicolai’s father said that he was brought in the military camp and he was being interrogated.

“I don’t know what to say.” Our grandfather said while looking at my little brother. “But I want to say thank you. You have helped a lot in the island.”

After that, the study room became quiet again. They get back to their own businesses and we continued.

“Your brother maybe inherited your parents intelligence when it comes to technologies.” Nicolai said while checking my papers.

“Yeah.” I replied.

“Don’t you have interest in technologies?” He asked. I shook my head as a response.

“I don’t know yet what I want but following the footsteps of our parents? Nuh uh.” I said and chuckled.

Nicolai chuckled as well and I was able to see him that. I looked at his face unknowingly. He is indeed good looking no wonder he was being fantasized.

“Let’s call it a day.” He said and I agreed. We both went to the third floor and rest finally. This is a tiring day.

The next day, Nicolai volunteered to drive me to school since we are both going there. He also said that he will bring me home later since we still have lessons to discuss.

We both entered the campus and I can say there’s a lot of students who saw how Nicolai opened a door for me. He is being nice and I am not used of it.

I went to the student council office while Nicolai went to the faculty office.

I placed the printed report to the desk of the student council president.

There are also lot of students scattered in this floor. They are all early maybe because they are practicing for their performances on the Foundation Day.

“Where is the room intended for the P.E?” I asked. We are now walking but we are still in the same floor. I am with my classmates. After a few minutes someone open the door where we stopped. So this is the PE room.

“Class good morning.” Said by the instructor who is now facing us. She is in her Physical Education attire as well.

“This morning, I would like to see how you defend yourselves from other people by the means of what we have discussed previous meeting. Kindly find a partner.” She said. The class becomes get busy. “ You can observe first Miss Montidalgo.” She added. I followed what the instructor said. And I am shocked to see how one attacked one another. I can see in here a literal combat!
