Secrets

“What powers does this wolf have?” I pulled up a chair in front of the rogue and sat down.  Jace twirled a knife while Gannon held onto the whip. 

“We were told that they will be the strongest wolf alive, have Elemental control and that’s just the ones they get no matter what.  There is talk of telepathy, oneirokinesis, telekinesis, teleportation, invisibility, x-ray vision, astral projection, and who knows what else.” He looked over at the female rogue and sighed. 

“Who told you this, and what makes you think you got the right person? As far as we know you could be just attacking till you find them.  We are not the first pack your rogues have attacked.”  I leaned forward in the chair looking at the rogue in the eyes. 

“Yes, we attacked the Midnight pack, but that’s because it was the pup's mothers pack.  We wanted to make sure the pup wasn’t there.  Next was this one because it was the pup's father's pack. Our Alpha is the uncle, and wants the pup to help him defeat the Alpha of the Midnight pack since he was wrongfully kicked out.  We know because when this wolf is in its wolf form it has a specific marking on its ears and back paws.” He growled at me and Gannon whipped him with the whip. 

I stood up and motioned for Jace to follow.  We walked into the hall of the dungeon as Gannon started asking him more questions.  “We need to talk to Wesley, see if what they say is true.” I stopped and looked at my phone, we have been down here hours and its almost 11pm. 

“I don’t think he is the one they are looking for, He just shifted for the first time yesterday, and before that he just got to be able to talk to his wolf on his birthday.  I don’t believe he has any powers or else his mom would have said something to him, or even your dad and you.” He looked at me as the door opened and Gannon walked out. 

“Okay, you go talk to his mom and I will go talk to my dad.  Gannon did he say anything else, how many more are there?”  I could feel Belle getting restless and knew she wanted to see Wesley to make sure he was okay but I had to get to the bottom of this. 

The rogue didn’t give us anything else I sent Jace to see if Wesley’s mom had any answers and to check on Wesley.  Gannon went to call Alister to see if Alpha Marcus of Midnight pack had any insight.  I mind linked dad to see if he was still up. I walked up to his office and walked in then sat down and just looked at him. 

I took a deep breath “So the rogue believes that Wesley is this special wolf.  That he has these powers, and his uncle on his mom's side wants to use him to defeat Alpha Marcus of the Midnight pack and take over as Alpha.  According to them the uncle was wrongfully kicked out long before Wesley was born but he knew warrior Carter when he met his sister.  But as far as I remember warrior Carter didn’t have powers and Wesley’s mom Susan doesn’t show signs of having powers, So I believe they have the wrong person.”  

He stared at me as I rambled on.  It was about 2 minutes before he stood up and walked over to a bookshelf and moved one of his books.  The bookshelf popped off the wall and he pulled it revealing a passage way. “Dad what's this, what's going on?”  He motioned for me to follow him.  I stood up and followed, he led me down a set of stairs and we finally reached what looked like a private training area.   

“This is, well was Warrior Carters private training area.  He did have powers, but no one but those close knew he had them.  It is genetic but Susan and I have been in constant about if Wesley is showing any signs and the only thing, he is displaying is not getting his wolf until he found his mate, and being tiny his whole life.”  It took me a minute to take in everything my dad was saying.  Warrior Carter had powers, Wesley could have powers, someone was after Wesley. 

At that thought Belle started pacing in my mind, 

Belle: We need to protect him, we need to get to the bottom of this, I need to speak with Anakin. 

Before I could answer her, she retreated back, probably trying to see if she can reach Anakin. 

“What can we do dad?  We need to protect Wesley, but also our pack and as long as they know about Wesley he’s going to be hunted until they get him.  Why did no one come after warrior Carter?” I started pacing back and forth, my dad put his hands on my shoulders and stopped me.  

“He never really used his powers.  He used them for emergencies only.  That is what this room is for.  If his powers are not used by the time, he turns 21 they will disappear.  When warrior Carter met Susan at an Alpha meeting I brought him to when I first took over for your grandfather, she moved here and after a little while he came to training one day a totally different person.  He was always a strong warrior but he just showed exceptional strength that day.  That’s when his father and mine brought he and I down here and explained what will and may happen.  He came down here to train so his powers didn’t disappear.  When Wesley is ready we can speak with him and see what he would like to do, and he is more than welcome to use this room just like his father and grandfather and his previous ancestors.”  He led me back up the stairs to his office.  

“What about the rogues dad?  We can’t keep fighting them off for years and not knowing how many there are out there that want him.” I felt the worry building up inside me. 

“Alarielle, we will figure it out. I promise you they will not get Wesley.” He hugged me and then sent me on my way.  

I mind linked Jace & Gannon to see if they got anywhere and to let them know to meet me in my office in the morning.  Right now, I had to go to the pack hospital and make sure Wesley was okay.  I got Wesley's room and looked through the window on the door and he was sleeping. I checked my phone to see what time it was, 1am.  I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding. 

"Alpha Alarielle, what are you doing here so late?" One of the nurses stopped to talk with me.

"Just wanted to check see how he was doing, any updates?" I turned and walked to the nurse's station and she followed and sat down behind the desk, and started typing on the computer.

"Everything looks good with Mr. Carter and he should be able to be released tomorrow."  She turned the screen showing me all the test results and updates.  My heart dropped, I'm glad he is good and ready to go but that means he will be able to return to school and be out of a secudled guarded hospital room. 

"Can you page the doctor and tell them that I want him held here.  I do not want him released until I say so. I will speak with his mother in the morning and explain.  I don't care what you need to tell him but he is to not know."  I didn't want to use my alpha voice but I was ready to if she didn't want to agree with me.

She agreed without a fight and I would tell Jace and Gannon in the morning after I spoke with Susan. For now, Wesley was safe and I knew his whereabouts and visitors while he was here. I looked through the window of the door one more time, smiled at Wesley sleeping and decided tonight I'll go sleep in my room so I can get up early and get things done before having to go to school.  I don't know what is happening with me but this is something I never felt before.
