As the crowd stopped from clapping their hands James assisted me as I sat down, peculiarly he didn’t grab any seat from the board’s table rather he sat on the side where non board members only attorneys and secretaries are to seat at.
“I all want to thank you for giving your best condolences to my father’s death, we all know it was too sudden” I know the person who tried to kill my father isn’t in this room, I hope.
I looked at their eyes, all empty but full of ‘money thoughts’, despite the fact that probably a lot would want to overthrow me.
“I know a lot of you thinks that I am not ready for this position, I have been living freely for the longest time I know but one thing is for sure my father did not leave me empty handed or more specially unknowledgeable of our own business.” I looked around their faces
But one face did captured my eyes, James,
I expected him to belittle me, I expected him to take this throne instead of me but heck, he didn’t even seat on the board member’s desk.
“My father’s last wish to me was to marry James Linden but he did give us 100 days approximately 3 months and 10 days and the countdown started after the day my father died. Let us please acknowledge my fiancée, James Linden” They all clapped their hands, ears all too widened from the great news, but of course it was a Linden and our merging will make both businesses stronger.
James stood up and acknowledged my introduction of his presence to the company, I know there’s something more to this guy but my father never makes mistakes when it comes to me, never.
The red light of Martin? Aria’s husband lit up, I thought he ousted himself already? “Yes Martin, I am surprised to see you” I spoke as I waited for him to tell whatever he is going to say,
“I will be leaving for Switzerland and that’s for good, Amary, please these gentlemen needs assurance that you can handle this job. After all we do trust you a lot and we know your capabilities.” He said, I took a deep breath and closed my eyes for a bit,
“I respect your decision for leaving the company and you have indeed worked for us for a long time but if you remember how young I was when I study here after school, how young I was when even during your meeting such as this I was there, I might have lived my life a little bit more than the fullest but I assure you, a company that my parents built is something I treasure more than my own life. We will maintain Reich’s standing as the best ship-building company in the continent of US.” James started to clap his hands and so the crowd followed,
Every single head nodding,
Soon after other issues were raised James approached me, “You did excellent” I replied with a smile as we both made our way out of the office,
We headed straight at home,
“We aren’t done doing business” Caleb said as we rested our backs at the seats of the car,
“I know, it’s the 16th of the month” I sighed as I removed this damn high heels off my feet,
“So, what if it is the 16th of the month?” James asked curiously, he loosened his neck time which I undeniable find sexy, DAMN IT,
I took a deep breath, “We make transactions with Senator Cedric every 16th of the month”
“What kind of drug does he order?” he asked, curiously,
“Every kind of addictive drug James, you’re a pharma graduate right? You probably know them” I pressed the button where a divider from the driver and us emerges and gives us privacy,
“Methamphetamine” I moved closer to him,
“Heroine” closer,
“m*******a” even closer,
“Cocaine” my nose and his left cheek only a centimeter apart, I can feel him taking a deep breath,
“Amary” he spoke, he held my hand, his warm, dominating hand,
“James?”
“Do you really trust me? That I am capable of handling whatever shithole you and your father dug?” harsh, I sat down straight.
“I want to protect you like what your father wanted but you cannot play games with me anymore, dealing with drugs is just a matter of life and death and death is probably not what your father want for you” he looked at me with those beautiful blue eyes that I have just noticed now, why just now?
“Then you shall be present at the transaction later, after all, every customer we have at Pharmakeia would expect that you’re knowledgeable of our messy business.” I pressed down the division,
“Caleb, where will we meet your father?”
“We will meet him at the back of Thompson Nashville Amary, we will transfer to the coaster and we will meet Senator Cedric at his mansion as usual”
“He lives at Cullman, Senator Cedric,”
“Senator Cedric is a drug dealer? Or user, what is he?” He asked furiously, I chuckled,
“Yeah and he is all of the above, Cullman is two hours away from here” I saw the coaster and we quickly transferred there, I sat comfortably and James seems silent, unusual.
“No more questions?” I asked, James was seated comfortably, eyes closed,
“Well, such issues is not really that surprising anymore, it’s just the person, he and my father used to be very good acquaintances. I just didn’t expect him to be related to this such” he looked at me then changed his gaze from me to the window,
“Rest,” I said,
I fell asleep and was awakened by a warm hand,
“Caleb,” I yawned, Caleb went back to his chair, Bryant was driving then I and realized we were already at Sen. Cedric’s mansion’s gate,
“James, wake up, we’re here” I drank a glass of water with mint and lemon and fixed my hair and lips, I placed a darker shade of red,
After a short while we were at the entrance,
“Just keep quiet and act like you know it all” I elbowed James, he nodded, he seemed nervous.
“Amaryllis” Senator Cedric said as he reached for my hand and kissed it, I awkwardly removed my hand away from his filthy lips, like his son’s

James composed himself,
“Pharmakeia is under my care now Senator Cedric and so is Amaryllis” James took the napkin placed on the pocket in front of his suit and wiped my hand which Senator Cedric kissed,

Senator Cedric replied with a ‘Tsss’,
I smirked as he turned around as we followed him inside, Caleb and Bryant with the help of Senator Cedric’s men unloaded the coaster.
We sat down at the couch as we were served wine,
Before I even took a sip James took it out of my hand and took a sip from it, “Making sure it doesn’t have poison” he handed it back to me,
Protective much James?
“I wouldn’t kill such a beautiful flower” Senator Cedric said as he sat down and took a sip from the wine himself,
“I will have my campaign soon, and both your presence is a must and you both know why.”
“Of course we’ll be there, it is a chance for me to show the people the new power couple, Senator Cedric” he chuckled from my response as he sliced a bit size of the blue cheese,
“Of course, of course, well, James, your father would have been very very proud of where you are right now.” James and my brow rose,
“Well, if there are things that I do not know about my father then I shall not care it has been long buried with him” Oh,
“The luggage has been delivered,”
“’Till we meet again, Rose” Senator Cedric said with his devilish eyes on,
“And so will we,” James commented scarily, it sent chills to my spine, and it definitely have sent to Senator Cedric’s too.
We made our way out as Senator Cedric watched us,
James assisted me as we got down the stairs and opened the door for me, as I entered I saw him making eye contact with Senator Cedric,
His demeanor right now makes me think more what did he and my father really talked about, he entered the coaster and sat beside me, he grabbed my legs, placed it up and now he removed my heels by himself, he removed his coat and placed it on me,
“Rest” he said,
“You’re” he tapped his left shoulder, “rest” ridiculous,
