Love Competition

Katherine Today is another day of school. Nothing unusual, just the same old routine. I woke up and headed to the pool where I met with my friend Jonathan. I love swimming and Jonathan is part of the swimming team, so he comes with me to the pool and trains every day. I could join the team but I like to have time to do other things, so I haven't joined and instead, I help him practice every morning while getting my swimming done as well. Jonathan is one of my few friends and the one I spend the most time with in general, since we see each other every day. Jonathan is really nice and reliable. There was a time I couldn't make it because I got sick and he went to my apartment with cold medicine. He took care of me all day and even cooked and cleaned. I was so grateful I had to cook for him to show my gratitude once I recovered and he even got to my place early and helped me cook. Jonathan would definitely be a good boyfriend if he were to date, but for some reason, he's been single for the past year. His excuse has always been training or that he's not ready to start dating. Jonathan is not the hottest guy in school, but he's still quite attractive and does have a good number of followers. He speaks Korean fluently despite being a second generation born in the USA, but it's probably because he travels to Korea often to visit family. I can't say the same about my Hispanic heritage. I'm definitely ashamed of not learning Spanish growing up, but I'll place the blame on my parents instead. I do understand it, but can't hold a full conversation in Spanish. Anyway, Jonathan would definitely be a blessing to whoever dates him. He's reliable, kind, and never forgets anything important, even when some of us do. Ups, guilty. I really hope he finds his special someone soon. I went into the pool after changing into my swimsuit and Jonathan was already warming up. "Hey Jonathan! Good morning!" I said with a huge smile. "Hey Kat, did you rest well? You were up so late last night, I was worried you wouldn't get enough sleep." "He he, I did. I finished my assignment just in time. Sorry for asking you to review it for me so late. I really hadn't noticed the time." "No worries, as long as I can help you, you can call me anytime." He said to me with a smile as he ruffled my hair. He helped me warm up and then we swam for an hour. Jonathan is so reliable. If he wasn't my friend, I don't know what I would have done. After swimming and going home to get ready for school, I drove to school and saw a commotion. My curiosity leads me to walk where the crowd is and, to my disappointment, I see the two most popular guys in school, Ethan and Kevin. Ew, I don't like them, they have casted a spell on everyone at school, making all the girls go crazy over them. Some even claim to be in love with them, like why? Those guys are jerks, they switch girls as often as one changes clothes. They are very attractive but just the fact that they will play with any girl that throws herself at them is enough for me to put them on my "do not date" list. Not like I even wanted to date in the first place. I don't believe in all that fairytale s**t of falling in love at first sight, Prince Charming, the forever after, all of that lovey-dovey crap. I rolled my eyes and walked through the crowd, completely ignoring those two. I heard the girls squeal in excitement but decided not to turn around and see what was happening and instead focus on opening my locker as I pushed people out of the way. Suddenly, the crowd went silent and I smiled satisfied as I opened my locker. "Hey gorgeous." I heard a familiar voice that doesn't belong to any of my friends and a giggle followed by a scent that everyone at school knows. I didn't respond and instead placed inside my locker what I needed to go in and pull out what I needed to take with me. "Dude, she's completely ignoring us," I heard on my other side as I closed my locker and walked away. Ethan (POV) I noticed a girl walking through the crowd looking annoyed. I get curious, as she doesn't seem to care that we're here. I nudged Kevin and gestured towards the girl. "Let's have some fun," I said, as I started walking towards her. There's no way anyone will ignore us. We're the most attractive and handsome guys in school and, not to mention, wealthy. There's no girl who can resist our charms. I stopped behind her. "Hey gorgeous," I said with my charming voice, but to my surprise she didn't even turn around. Kevin starts giggling like a little girl mocking me. I leaned next to her locker hoping she would turn my way, but she still ignored us and just walked away. "Dude, she's completely ignoring us," Kevin said, astonished that there was anyone capable of doing that. I frown. Nothing like this has ever happened to me before. What gives? "I dare you to make her fall in love with you, if you still think you hold the title of the most attractive guy in school. Although, I don't think you can, she didn't even stop to look at us." "Challenge accepted, Kevin. I'll make her fall in love with me and even beg me to date her." "I can't wait to see you fail!" "Jerk" I said as I walked quickly to catch up to her. She won't be a hard challenge, she's probably one of those pretty girls that thinks she needs to be chased after, plus a little bit of my charm and "bam" she'll fall to my feet in no time. I spotted her and dang, that girl has a nice rack, she moves so elegantly yet owns those goods like a true queen. She has curves and dips in the right places, and her short black hair is actually shorter from behind, giving me a glimpse of her partially exposed back. This girl is hot. I'm sure I'll have fun with this challenge. I finally caught up with her, for someone short, she sure walks fast. I walked next to her. "Hey gorgeous, what's your name?" I said as I leaned closer to her, but she didn't stop walking. I do enjoy the scent of her flowery perfume though.
