Wedding Surprise
"Ma'am, ma'am." The attorney tapped Erina on the shoulder with repetitive calling. She wasn't paying attention, her eyes glued to her phone in anxiety. Waiting for someone perhaps.
"I think it's better you wait outside, this place is a bit crowded." He added with a professional smile. Erina knew they had to tend other clients, and she was just holding the queue back.
"He's coming now, I'm sure of it. Just give me a second, please." She begged, her eyes not leaving the phone's screen even for a second. Although the antsy had taken over her now.
"Please miss, you can come in when you are both ready." He added and gestured towards the waiting area of the court. Erina raised her head and looked at the lovely couple in front of her.
They were also here to get married, just like her, the only difference is that the groom is present unlike hers. Erina stood to her feet and paced towards the exit of the courtroom.
"Please pick up!" She was at the brink of tears as she dialled her boyfriend, Jace's number. Again, it went straight to voicemail.
She has been in this courtroom all day, waiting for her fiance Jace to arrive.
Erina was elated that they would finally make their dreams of getting married come true. However, hours passed but there was no sign of him. He was not picking calls or texting back, neither was his mom.
"Maybe something is wrong." She convinced herself as the thought of going to his place to check occurred to her. Before she took a step out of the court, her phone beeped, making her stop.
It was a text from Jace. Her hands were shaking as she clicked on the message. Erina could not believe what she just read. It was a nightmare to her, the girl froze in the position.
Jace: I can't spend the rest of my life with someone like you. It's over. Goodbye!
She could swear that there was blood dripping down her chest because of how sharp the pain felt. "No, no, no, this has to be some prank. He can't do this to me!" She cried, her sobs became audible.
She thought of calling him, hoping that maybe he'll explain what kind of cheap joke this was. Her phone started ringing, instead of Jace, it was a call from her best friend Cassy.
"Babe!" These were Cassy's first words, before she added ahead in a worrisome tone. "Are you okay?" She asked, knowing how emotional Erina was about Jace. Unknown to Erina there was a lot more to that cheap joke.
"What happened? Why are you asking?" Erina asked, trying her best to hide the agony in her voice. Tears crawled down on her cheeks which did not go unnoticed by the people in the court. Every passerby looked at her with pity in their eyes.
"I'm guessing you haven't seen what Jace posted on insta! How dare he do that to you. That bastard!" Cassy growled in anger. Erina didn't wait for any more explanation, she hung up immediately and went straight to Jace's page.
"What the?" She held her hands to her mouth in disbelief. Jace was holding this girl by the waist, while she leaned on him in the picture. She scrolled down and there was more, every picture was more intimate than the former.
Erina couldn't stand on her feet anymore. Everything seemed like some sick nightmare. She paused at the most horrifying post of all. Jace was kissing this blonde girl! Her boyfriend was cheating on her for God knows how long.
"Jace, you can't do this. It's a prank right? We'll get married right, baby?" She typed in the comment section. Jace however didn't disappoint, he replied to her comment almost immediately.
"Get a life! Quit being an obsessed, desperate b***h!" She felt as if her eyes were going to fall out after reading his reply. She was a desperate obsessed b***h now? She couldn't wrap her head around what was happening or why it was happening.
She spoke with Jace this morning. They were supposed to come to the court together and get married, but he called her at the last minute and told her he'll meet her there. She didn't think anything of it.
Now this? She had dated this guy for five whole years, and today that they were supposed to start their happily ever after. And now out of nowhere Jace calls her an obsessed b***h who was desperate to get him?
Her phone started ringing, again it was her friend Cassy."Please don't let it get to you. Jace is a jerk!" She spat the moment Erina picked. “And so are those other women in the comments. Let those assholes be. They know nothing.”
"Yes Cassy, you are right. I'll be fine. Don’t worry about me." Erina said. She was finally accepting the fact Jace dumped her. "But you know who wouldn't be?" She continued. "Jace."
"Please don't try anything crazy, please." Cassy said. She was well aware of her friend, Erina was not some white lotus weak girl. Jace had dumped her and now he needed to pay for breaking her heart.
"No Cassy, I'll make sure Jace gets what he deserves." She said and then hung up immediately. "It's his loss! He has moved on? I'll do the same. And I promise it'll be someone better. Someone wealthy, good looking. I'm going to find a husband before I leave!"
She chirped happily as she stepped out of the court. Her eyes searching for her prince charming. Erina stopped in her tracks the moment she spotted a car. It was a BMW. Perfect! It did not matter if the man was in his 40s or even 50s. If he was in the court with such a vehicle, he either had some feud to settle or was there to sue someone.
Erina moved closer to it, even though she knew she wasn't thinking straight, she didn't care. She picked a brick on the ground and without hesitation, she threw it across the air and towards the luxurious vehicle.
If there's one thing about Erina, it's that she never ever misses a target. The brick landed on the windshield, making the glass come crashing down. Probably due to the sound that the crash caused, a man dressed in a grey suit stepped out of the court.
Erina stared at the humongous guy, he was at least 6'2! Her eyes were glued to the good looking man, who in return was staring at the damage in front of him. Erina couldn’t take her eyes of from that hunk, her neck started to hurt but she didn’t care.
"What the?" He muttered in his raspy yet hoarse voice. "You did this?" He finally noticed Erina who was feeling intimidated. His eyes bore into her lightly done make-up face. Erina couldn’t speak for a moment due to the badass vibe he was giving.
"Don't mess this up, don't." She warned herself internally. Erina shook her head to remind herself not to get swayed by the charms. No doubt the man was indeed a hunk and she had to score him.
"Do you know what you've done?" He asked, snapping his fingers in front of her. The man didn’t seem to be angry now, instead his expressions displayed curiosity.
She seemed lost for a moment, but composed herself. "I know exactly what I've done." She smirked, taking a step towards him. He raised his brow at this. He was expecting her to at least deny it even if it's a little.
"Look Mr fancy pants, I don't have money to pay for all this," Erina spoke pointing at the damaged windshield. "But I can warm your bed." She bit her bottom lip. She had no idea what she was doing at this point, but the Man seemed amused.
A dirty smirk not leaving his face. His eyes scanned from her chocolate brown hair, to the green eyes, and down to her toes. All this while, thinking about how and where she got her guts from.
He moved closer, towering above her petite silhouette. Leaning to her ears, he whispered while gently touching her earlobe. "Marry me and we are even." The man totally knew what he was doing and it left her speechless.
Erina gulped hard, took two steps backwards, then pushed him away. She wasn't expecting that and him mentioning it out of the blue freaked her out. "Hell no, Mr…"
"Khuraan." He chuckled at her baffled reaction. It amused him that she suddenly lost her calm and was acting out of pure impulse. But now that Erina had finally caught his attention. Khuraan wanted her so badly!
"Thanks for the offer, Mr Khuraan. But I'm afraid I must refuse." Erina immediately responded to him, knowing what kind of evil he must be planning. She had already had a bad experience with Jace, and now this guy wanted to do some evil too.
"I think I need to remind you, miss, that you owe me. A lot." Khuraan emphasised his last words, shoving hands in his pocket he glared at her. Of course, she owed him. That's only because she decided to do something stupid!
This wouldn't have happened if Jace hadn't dumped her. Jerk! "I can't, no, I can't. I refuse." She managed to say. Looking around, Erina intended to plan a backup. But who would try to mess or butt in the matters of that man. Nobody!
"Well, you have to do something, miss feisty pants." Khuraan said. "Think fast." He waited for her to say something as he glanced at his expensive watch. Erina had no way to escape as she was standing in the middle of two cars and behind her was a wall.
"I already said no." Erina refused once again hoping he would let her off the hook. Instead Khuraan had planned something else. If he wanted Erina to come back to her then she most certainly would. Because Khuraan Kilantro never loses!
"Well, I'm sure you know the consequences of your actions." He pulled out a card from his pocket."Here, my business card. You'll come around. I'm sure." He said, handing it to her. She hesitated, rolled her eyes, then collected it and shoved it in her bag.
"Goodbye." He said, walking to the car parked behind the smashed BMW. Two guards dressed completely in black ushered him in, and in no time, they drove out. Erina couldn’t help but gawk in shock.
"He owns that car, too?" She humphed with a pout. "Who comes to a place with two different cars?" She wondered as she headed towards the exit too.
