CHAPTER 3. LEARNING THE TRUTH

LIAM'S POV

Riley is just smiling at me, like she knows a secret, and she is amused by it.

"Speak! What is going on?" I snap upset.

"She casted a spell on you. Isa does that when she doesn't want anything serious. Is so you forget about her, she is a little afraid of commitment. She's been hurt before and prefers to be alone." She explains like is nothing.

"That witch needs to be punished! She messed with the wrong Alpha!" My wolf snaps. Neither of us appreciate being used, especially by a witch. There is a reason why we don't allow them in wolf territory and why we stay away from each other.

"How do you know her?" This might be a problem for my pack. We know nothing about Riley, I have a feeling they are not good company.

"She is my friend. We are roommates. Her, Amy, and Steve are my family." She says non chalant.

"Where the f**k is your friend right now? Casting a spell on an Alpha could be interpreted as war! I demand to see her." I am furious. Nobody has the right to take my memories from me.

"She is probably gone by now. She is like that, but I think Amy can help you, she is also a witch, with different kind of powers than Isabella, but still powerful. Come on. Adam was going to meet them tonight anyways." She says like it is no big deal.

"No! Witches are not trustworthy. They are treacherous, cons, always using their magic to get what they want. No I will not be getting near a witch again!" I say resolute.

"Maybe my friend Isa casted a spell on you because you are a bastard jerk who judges other creatures just because they are not like you. You do not deserve to have memories with her, I am glad she took them away!" She says angrily.

"You can't talk to me like that, I am your future Alpha and as such...."

"I am not a member of your pack, and a swear to the Goddess if you don't change your attitude and your ways, I will never be. Adam, I love you so much, but I cannot see myself living in a pack where the Alpha thinks he is above everyone and judges others because they are not like him. I think it is time to go!" She says determined, looking at her mate with mad eyes.

"Bro, please. Riley is my mate, and she is not going to let this go. Please, help me out, and I'll owe you!" Adam begs through the mindlink.

"Riley, I apologize. I am just a little upset because I just found out that you friend took my memories away, and I guess I felt uneasy thinking of another witch trying trying to help me, but I want to know what happened so please, take me to your friend." I try to be as nice as possible for my Beta's sake.

"That's better, I already texted her. We will meet at our place, let's go." She says and takes to the exit.

"Babe, are your friends going to be ok with us being here? I mean we were going to do this at the club for a reason." Adam says with worry on his face.

"They will be fine. As soon as I tell them you are my mate, they will be overjoyed." She says, letting us into an apartment. I don't know what I expected to see, but it looks pretty normal, a small sitting area with mismatched couches and a kitchen with white cabinets and an island with some stools. I can perceive the lingering scents, Riley, of course, and a few others, it smells like witch but there is a scent that makes me feel at ease, and happy?

"What is that scent?' I ask my wolf.

"I don't know. Is like my favorite dessert and love?" He asks, confused. I feel like I am on cloud 9. I continue to explore the apartment, my senses take me to the third door in the hallway, something tells me I have to go there.

"What do you think you are doing, wolf?" I turn around, and I am met with a tall pale guy, his blue eyes are furrowed, waiting for my answer. He looks like a walking corpse.

"For f**k's sake. A vampire?" I yell upset, walking towards the living room where Riley and Adam are kissing.

"Babe, witches and vampires? How is that even possible?" Adam asks a little amused and a little intrigued.

"This is my pack, Adam, my family. Steve and Amy found me years ago hurt in the woods, I had just been kicked out of my pack and they hurt me pretty bad, they left me for dead, but Amy and Steve saved me. I don't want to talk about it, please. if you can't accept my family, then..."

"Sweet Riley, don't be so harsh with the wolf, plus I think is too late for you to reject each other. you've done the thing, and I hear a small heart beat, am I wrong?" Did this fucker just say Riley is pregnant?

"It was going to be a surprise for everyone, I found out this morning, and I wanted to tell all of you together, but Isa is not here so it doesn't matter. Yes, is true." She confirms.

"That is great news! Your parents are going to be so happy. They have been wanting grandchildren since you and Jenny got their wolf." I joke with Adam, but he looks lost.

"A baby? Are you sure vampire? Riley, could it be a mistake. I mean, we used protection most of the time. I don't know." He really is an i***t. His mate starts tearing up. I want to punch Adam. Is he really that stupid?

"It only takes one time. We didn't use protection all the time. It doesn't matter, Adam. Let's just focus on what we came for. Amy should be ready, I'll go get her." She says, changing the subject, hiding her tears from everyone.

"No need, I'm here, I'm ready. Riley, congrats girl!" The witch says giving Riley a hug. " We are going to love your beautiful baby so much. Move wolf!" She tells Adam, pushing him out of the way.

"So you are the guy our Isa casted a spell on." The girl addresses me studying me. She is the tiniest thing ever, she can't be more than 5.3, too skinny for my liking and bright green eyes that shine like two emeralds. "Mhhh, I don't know. Isa is very cautious about using her magic, she is incredibly smart, you know. She can make spells on command and she is powerful too, not for nothing she is in line to be the next leader of her coven, well, her and her annoying step brother, they will share once their parents step down. Anyway, let's find out what you did to her that pushed her to do that to you." She says as she takes my hand and takes me to the couch.

"What exactly are you planning to do?" I ask her.

"Oh, calm down, Alpha, it won't hurt. Tell your wolf to stop pacing. He is going to make me dizzy." She says as she reaches for my head.

"Can she see you?" I ask my wolf.

"I don't know, she is making me uncomfortable!" He complains.

"Shh, you two are really annoying." She says, almost exasperated.

"Sorry, this is really weird." I tell her.

She closes her eyes and tries to focus.

"Evening Moon, bright moon, lead your daughter to the truth. help us find the way through you." As soon she says those words, I feel like I am being pulled and sent into a dark room, everything is turning, I feel like I'm going to puke if it doesn't stop soon.

"Hold steady, Alpha. I'm almost there." I hear Amy call me from far away. I am regretting letting her get in my head.

Suddenly, everything stops, and I feel at peace, is like I was angry and empty, but everything feels right in this moment. Then an image, a girl big brown eyes, luscious lips, long brown hair, and her body, perfectly sculpted by the Moon herself. Who is she? The last thing I see is her holding a guy's hand and disappearing. I feel empty and sad again, but angry that she is gone for the second time and took my memories with her.

I open my eyes, and I see everyone around looking expectant. I just turn to look at Amy, hoping that she has answers. I didn't see anything else than the image of that girl.

"Did you see something?" I ask the witch.

"Only that as I suspected you were a jerk. You kissed, and then you insulted our kind, and she casted a spell more for her to forget than you. Is so that she didn't remember all the things you said. No big deal." It doesn't make sense, I have never liked witches. Why would I be with one in the first place?

"Where is she?" I ask, upset. I will make her pay.

"Not here. Anyway, be that as it may, by tomorrow, the memories of you being with her will be gone, and to everyone, her presence will be just a dream." I hate magic! The worst part is that I don't want to forget what I felt when I saw her.
