CHAPTER 11. OLIVIA IS BACK

ADAM'S POV

"We have to go back, mate is sad." My wolf be let's me know.

"You agreed that we were not going to be fine with listening to that. That guy hurt her, and I just can't believe how much she had to endure all by herself for who knows how long. She had to be about 19 when this happened. I want to kill that Alpha!" I tell him upset.

"We will, we will find our way to revenge. I promise you, but for now, we have to go back. We need to talk to mate." We make our way back to the house, running as fast as I can.

"Adam, you f****d up man! Riley is in your room, she needs you and you just left her there to finish her story. You are an ass! She was crying. Look, your mate deserves better, so fix things and then come to my dad's office. We have a lot of work to do." Liam sounds really upset, he's always been a fair man, he tries to look after others and do the right thing, that is why he will be a great Alpha, and he is right, I did f**k up.

As soon as I walk in the pack house everyone is looking at me, obviously what happened a few hours ago between Josh and I is still lingering.

"Adam! I'm so glad you are back! The holiday season is better when you are here. Your mom and the Luna are planning the Christmas ball, tell me you'll dance with me!" Megan comes giving me her flirty smile, trying to hug me. Why did I even go out with her in the first place? Let's face it she's sleept with almost every warrior in the pack, hoping one decided to make her his mate, and her voice is so annoying. What was I thinking.

"You were horny." My wolf chimes in. I just don't respond. No point, he's right.

"Megan, are you even serious? We were just attacked like two minutes ago.. Can you not be selfish for once?" I move her gently away from me.

"It was minimal, and everyone is fine." She says, trying to look innocent.

"Not happening, Megan, and just so everyone knowsI have found my mate!" I say loud enough so everyone hears. I'm off the market.

I run to my room on the Beta floor, I have to fix things with Riley. I am such and i***t for not being there for her.

"Let's get her back!" My wolf demands, and we will.

I walk in the room, and I see my mate with her face on her legs covering her face. She's crying, and that efuriates me.

"I'm sorry," She says, getting up immediately. " You don't need to say anything, I will be gone in the morning. Amy and Steve can pick me up in town. I didn't mean to cause you....." I can't let her continue.

'Riley, stop! You didn't do anything. You were the victim of a horrible man who thought his position as Alpha meant he could do whatever he wanted with his people. I am sorry if I made you feel like you did something wrong. Please forgive me!" I get on my knees, reaching for her hand and kiss it, hoping she forgives me.

"Adam, are you sure? I don't want you to look at me and remember everything that guy did and knowing that I didn't stop him!" She says, crying.

"No, baby, you were afraid. He should be punished and mark my words. He will. I will make sure he never does this to other girls." I get back up and hug her, I never want her to feel undeserving again.

"I'm sorry for not telling you everything. Those memories haunt me every day, and talking about it is like re-living that nightmare all over." I can't stand seeing her like this, I have to do something.

"I know, baby. I'm here now, and I promise you, everything is going to be better now. I have to go to work, looks like Liam and I will have to start sooner than we thought, but I promise tomorrow we will have dinner at my parents' I want them to meet you and we need to give them our news. You and my little pup are the most important thing in the world to me. I will ask the kitchen to bring something up for you, rest for now, baby." I tell her, guiding her to the bed, helping her lay down. Once I see she is calmed enough, I leave. Things must be pretty hot if Alpha George needs us to start working before we officially take over.

LIAM'S POV

"We don't know if Riley's theory is right. There has to be more than that. They thought she was dead, if they were going to take her back, they had the perfect opportunity when she was living amongst the humans. I am not totally convinced that they know she is alive." My dad proposes.

"Riley did say that her witch friend could help. We still have the body of the witch Michael killed, not to mention he is not doing too well. Maybe he needs magic to survive." Josh intervenes.

"She is still pretty shaken by having to tell us her story. I don't know if she understood when dad told her to contact her friend, but I don't think we should put that pressure on her. Dad, I know you know people. Your position as Alpha gives you certain leeway, those secret meetings you used to go to, they were with witches, right?" It is no secret that Alpha's quietly meet with other supernaturals just to make sure their peace agreements are still in place and to update everyone in what they've been up to. I will be going to those meetings pretty soon.

"We are not friends, son. We just meet to make sure everything is still in place, we want to maintain peace with everyone. Keeping our distance from each other is what keeps us alive, Liam. Involving a coven is not a good idea. Riley's friend, as far as I understand, doesn't have one, yet she is powerful, to be away from her people for so long, takes a great amount of strength. We are not making an alliance with a coven." He says definite.

A knock on the door interrupts us, and Adam comes in.

"Alpha, I am sorry about...."

"It doesn't matter, Adam. I assume you talked to your mate? You two are doing well?" Dad asks.

"We are working things out, Alpha." Adam gives a short response.

"Good, you probably should mark her before your ceremony. Liam and you are taking over by the end of the week. With the recent attack, your mother and I think it is best to move things up. We need the pack to start recognizing the chain of command. Liam, the renovations in the Alpha floor are ready. Your mother and I have been staying in our new home for a while." Dad states matter of fact.

"Alpha, isn't it too rushed? Taking over right now when we are practically at war with who knows who? u don't know if other packs will even accept us." Adam makes a good point. Other packs will think we are getting weak and not take us serious.

'It will be alright. It is decided. You two have been gone for years, it is time you start assuming your responsibility." There is no way to convince him otherwise, so I don't say anything.

"We are going to have to postpone this conversation. Looks like you have a guest, Liam." My brother cuts in.

"Who?" I ask.

"Olivia Sanders, from Moonstone pack." What did he say?
