IN ASHES

1001 Words
Amara The next morning I got discharged. There was no infection or anything- Thank God for that -and got a load of medicine and pain killers. My parents wanted me to rest but today I can't. It's the day of my graduation and they know how much looked forward for this. " Is your shoulder paining? " Isabella looked at me with the familiar concern. Again. " For the 34th time- no it's not paining and it won't if I don't stress it." " Why all snappy? You wake up on the wrong side today huh? " Josh come up with two bottles of juice and a bottle of soda which is his. " From the morning everyone is about my injury's news. Worse, in fact they are more curious about the out-of-nowhere- miracle-wolf who got a chunk of my fleash. In addition to the this I am starting to get a headache too," I gritted my teeth and kept my voice down. " Chill, they are momentarily interested in a new occurance after many weeks. They will get over. You just mind your graduation today. C'mon girl, it's not everyday you will get graduated." Josh chuckled promoting us to do it too. " I second that," Isa raised a hand. " Now if you done with your self pitying and babysitting+caring, can we go take some pictures now? " We hit him on the shoulder giving stinky eyes. " Felts like scratching," And he successfully cheered up the atmosphere ••••••••••••• " THEY are not here yet ?" Isa asked. " They are not picking up the calls," I sighed in frustration. We are planning to celebrate the graduation in a pizza hut. Josh and Isa were present too. Josh's parents are out of town and Isa never say no to free food. And since we three know each other from our diaper era they are family too. " The strict, punctual doctor parents of your is half an hour later. Mm... something fishy," Isa rubbed her chin with an expression of detectives in old movies. " Let me guess, you are currently reading a detective novel," I said flatly. " How do you know? " She asked in surprise. " My baby is so innocent," Josh smooched loudly on her lips. " Please guys, it's public," I leaned back with a eww expression. Not that I am really grossed out. How can I ? they are so cute," restrain a bit will ya ?" " This is called PDA young lady, public display of affection. if you have a problem get a boyfriend," Josh again kissed Isa to prove his point to which I only rolled my eyes. " It's not like she lacks suitors. Boys are ready to line up to date her but our girl here are in love with her studies," Isa said. " You know the rules. No dating until collage. And I don't see why anyone needs to date so young. No offense to you guys," I shrugged with an apologetic look. " None taken," Josh waved a hand dismissively. " Can we order pizza first?" Isa looked at the counter with longing. " Wait a bit more for Mr. and Mrs. Willow." " We can eat extra with them too." " I really don't know where this calories all are going," I looked at her figure. She is petite with blonde short hair and blue eyes. Perfectly like a Barbie. Completely opposite to me. I have a tall figure with long wavy, fiery red hair that deep and shiny that many thought that I coloured it and hazel green eyes. I can be said pretty if wanted, exactly the reason why I am in the cheerleading team. Suddenly loud wailing sound of firetruck interrupted my thoughts. We looked out to see a row of firetruck and police cars speeding into night. " That's the way to my house," I said absentminded. " Maybe it's someone we know. God bless them. Hope nothing major happened and everyone is fine," Isa silently muttered prayer and I joined too. After 15 minutes my phone rang. I looked at the unknown number before picking up," Hello? " " Is it Amara Willow? " A unfamiliar male voice came from the other side. " Yes." " I am the police chief of the Alaska police station. We need you to come to the Evergreen Hospital," He said in a low, soft tone. " Hospital? " I felt uneasiness building in me. My stomach started to churn restlessly. Josh and Isa looked at me in confusion. They are paying attention to the phone call too. So I put it in speaker. Somehow my instinct is telling me I am going to hear something terrible. " We are sorry to say this but, your parents.... fire.... hospital.... late..." I felt my ears ringing and my body stiffening in shock that I even forgot to breath. Isa was suddenly beside me rubbing my back and trying to calm me down. Josh took my phone and went a bit far away to talk. My brain only registered some of the words from the last sentance of the officer. But it was more than enough to shatter my world. I wept silently in Isa's arms. I don't even dare to sob loudly fearing my own sound will prove its real. I don't want to believe it. I want to think it's a prank. Maybe to give a surprise party to me, my parents planned it. But, I know it's not. My parents are gone. They were burnt to death. And now I am an orphan and alone. I couldn't contain my cries anymore and started to cry harder my whole body trembling. Isa tightened her arms. I know she is crying too but I am too occupied in my grief to notice the people and place arround me. They are really dead.
