Last Fight Part 1
~Isabelle~ It’s been years since I could enjoy the night breeze flow through my hair, now all I feel is the grease that has collected as a comb my finger through it. Months since the morning sun kissed my once soft, smooth skin, but now it frails; it is bruised and cut. Days since I was last fed, hunger now consumes me, evident that I haven’t been fed properly in years. Hours since they last laid a finger on me. Minutes since the sweet sound of silence filled the room. And seconds since the blood dripping from my nose dried up. To them, I am just another one of their toys, another one of their bitches, and another one of the people who a moulded into a weapon. I used to hope and pray to the goddess that someone would find me and rescue me. I used to cry myself to sleep wondering if my family missed me and if my father regretted what he had done. But all my faith for the goddess, all hope I once had is gone. I am void of any emotions these days, it’d be dangerous if they saw them, they would use them against me, so I keep my emotions under lock and key. Life wasn’t always so dark, but if I am honest, the memories of any light I experienced, has been extinguished. All I know is the hard concrete floor of my dark, damp cell, the cracking of the whips that rip away any disobedient, and the metal bars that serve as a constant reminder of my father's betrayal. All I know are the fights they force us into while people from all species watch and bid. Each fight harder than the last; you either kill or get killed. They weed out the week so that only the strongest are left. There is no room for mistake, no room to get comfortable, because at any given moment, you may end up being another body in the pit. This is the reminder of the reality of my world, the reminder that you can’t trust anyone with your life, the only person that has your back is you and only you. It’s a lonely world, but you learn to deal with it over time. “Prisoner 5514, get the f**k up, you’re up.” An officer spat. Of course, just when I finally heal again, I am thrown into yet another fight. I purse my lips together in order to contain the excitement that is creeping up on me. This life or death battle will be my last regardless of the result, I will no longer belong to these bastards. Sure I may end up in another prison, sure another filthy bastard may have control over me, but at least I have the chance to see something other than the concrete building stained with blood. As a reach my cell door, it the clicking sound of the door unlocking echos through the cell revealing a tall, muscular man heavily armed just in case I decided to attack. “Turn around you filthy piece of s**t!” He commanded. Reluctantly I turned, pondering my options. If I attack, the whip he held in his hand would most likely crack over my back and the fight would be postponed. If I open my mouth and make his job harder, he would beat me, weakening me for the fight. And if I keep quiet this day could end a whole lot easier. As much as I hated doing as I was told, I decided to remain quiet and do as he said. As he slipped the cuffs onto my wrists I hissed is displeasure. “f**k!” I whisper under my breath, he must have picked up the silver cuffs. They must have told him that I’ve grown immune to the other stuff they use. After a couple of seconds, I no longer feel. Focus. This is your last fight. I let out a breath and before I know it I’m in the ring waiting for my next victim. *** “Daddy, please! NOOOOO!” I scream. “I promise I’ll be a good girl, don’t let them take me.” “I’m sorry baby.” he whispers “They offered us something that we couldn’t give up. The pack needs it… but you wouldn’t understand you’re only a-” “What, a girl?” I spat “what do you think, I’m not fit to run the pack? Of course. Don’t worry Anthony will just take what’s rightfully mine won’t he?” “Think of it this way, they will make you stronger, and when we come to get you in a few years you will become alpha.” Daddy said “Ok daddy” *** As reality hit me again a singular tear threatened to spill. I breathe in and out. They cant see my weakness otherwise that will give them the advantage. But I couldn’t help but feel betrayed, he promised me that he would be back. 7 years later and I am still fighting to see another day. At least once I’m out I can seek my revenge. They probably think I’m dead already. That was probably his plan when he sent me here. “Prisoner 7102 please enter the ring.” A deep voice sounded over the loudspeaker. As the man’s voice ended, Prisoner 7102, or should I say, Kasey Rogers, entered the ring with a smirk on his face. How I can’t wait to wipe that smile off his face. He stood at 6’3 compared to my 5’2 frame. Yes, I know for someone so small, how the f**k am I still alive. But everyone thinks that this will be an easy fight but boy how they’re wrong. “Nice to see you again Isabelle, although this will be the last time we meet.” He snickered. Arrogant prick. Suddenly a loud siren sounded making the both of us flinch. “May the best man win.” I lowly growled. ~Marco~ Seven years ago, my father’s friend sold his eldest child to the vengeance just because his heir was a girl. Seven years, ago I learnt that to raise and to gain power, you must do whatever it takes, even if it means getting rid of your weakest links. Seven years later, I am the Alpha of the strongest pack on my way to purchase the strongest warrior the vengeance has created. My mind wanded back to the girl, wondering what happened to her and if she is still alive. What the f**k am I thinking? Who cares if this she-wolf is still alive or not. “Marco.” My beta says. “ We will be arriving in just under an hour.” “Thanks, Jace,” I reply. “Remind me I must talk with my cousin” “Of course.” The vengeance buys troubled wolves and trains them so that the best warrior is produced. This year my pack is able to take the first pick of which warrior we will be taking home. From past years, I know that the fights that are held a gruesome, bloody and fatal; they fight to the death and that there will be 10 wolves to bid on. But as I said, this year I will get to buy my warrior with no problems. *** “Marco, we are here. Do you want me to bring the money and the tranquillizer?” Jace asks “Yes, please” I reply “I will meet you inside, I’ve got to talk with Dillon” Entering the dark stoned building, I am greeted by my cousin Dillon. “Welcome to the Vengeance my brother!” Dillon welcomed. “I’m glad you came early, tonight will be hectic. But I must warn you these wolves are merciless so I hope you brought your tranquillizer with you” “It’s good to be back Dillon. My beta will be in shortly with the stuff” I reply. “Honestly can’t wait for the fights to begin” “So tell me, have you found your luna yet?” my cousin whispers. “You know how I am, I don’t want some weak she-wolf the moon goddess has given me” “In other words, you haven’t found your mate” “Exactly.”
