Episode 17

ALINA

I’ve been at Red Woods for a little over a day and things have been moving very quickly. I met Rex and we had already mated and marked each other. I definitely wasn’t expecting that, let alone in the woods.

Rex held my hand as we walked back towards the pack house, but he looked deep in thought. “Rex, what is it?”

“My parents are here.” He said. “They’re in my office.”

Oh crap. This isn’t exactly how I pictured meeting them for the first time. They must’ve mind linked him.

“I haven’t told them much about you and asked to give you space, but it seems my mother couldn’t wait.” Rex grumbled in frustration. “I’m sorry.”

“It’s okay. Do you think we could change first? This isn’t exactly how I wanted to meet your parents.” I looked down at the baggy clothes I was wearing. It was embarrassing.

“Yes, we can change first.” Rex chuckled.

When we got back to the pack house, we raced upstairs and changed in our rooms separately. I’d have to make a note to get all my stuff moved into Rex’s room. I was almost ready when Rex knocked on the door.

“Come in!” I called out.

Rex opened the door as I was slipping a more formed fitting shirt over my head. “Tomorrow, we can get some of the Omegas to move your stuff in my room. Correction, our room.”

I undid the braids in my hair and combed my fingers through to loosen the waves. “Rex, I can move my own stuff.”

“Don’t be silly.” He slipped his hand through mine and led me towards his office. “You’re going to be Luna of this pack one day. There are other things to focus on outside of moving your things.”

I blushed. “Okay.”

We reached his office to see that the door was partially open. I could hear hushed voices inside.

REX

I pushed the door to my office open to see my parents sitting and waiting for us. “Mom, Dad, I’d like you to meet your Luna, Alina Heartsbane.”

“Hi.” Alina waved but my mother immediately engulfed her in a hug.

“Mom!”

My mother pulled away, “It’s not everyday that I get to meet your mate, sweetheart. Hi Alina, I’m Elizabeth. I gotta say, Rex was all serious and brooding before he met you.”

“Awe, that’s so sweet!” Alina smiled. She definitely looked more relaxed and was adjusting quickly to pack life.

“I get a hug too!” My dad pulled Alina to his chest and wrapped his arms around her.

“Dad!” Dad was more hardcore as an Alpha than I am, but he changed in his retirement years.

“I’m Jackson.” He said when she stepped away. “Listen, we were so sorry to hear about your pack and if we knew that you had lived, we would have tried to find you. Your father was a friend of mine.”

“Thank you.” Alina murmured stepping to me. “I really appreciate that.”

“I see you wasted no time marking each other.” My dad looks at me and glanced down at the mark on my neck. “You seem to be adjusting quite nicely, Alina.”

I saw the heat rush to Alina’s cheeks. “I am. Red Woods is beautiful.”

“Well since you too have marked each other, should we plan the Luna ceremony?” My mother asked.

“The Luna ceremony?” Alina’s eyes went wide and she squeezed my waist.

“Let’s take it slow, Mom. Not everyone knows she’s an Alpha. They haven’t accepted her yet because they think she’s a rogue.” I explained to her.

My mom flipped her bright blonde hair behind her. “Okay, how about a welcome party this weekend and then the Luna ceremony next weekend?”

Alina considered it for a moment. I saw she bit her outer lip in concentration before nodding her head. “Sure, okay.”

“Great! I’ll get started!”
