Episode 18

ALINA Rex definitely got his looks from his father. Jackson was only an inch taller than Rex with the same skin complexion and dark brown hair and thick muscles. Jackson had gained a little weight since his retirement, but was still built like a bear. Rex’s mother, Elizabeth, had shining blonde hair and a small frame. She reminded me of the stereotypical cheerleader look, without the terrible personality they come with. Elizabeth mentioned the Luna ceremony and I nearly panicked. Luckily, Rex noticed and had saved me. She decided on a welcome party first with the Luna ceremony following a week later. “You’ll have to go shopping of course. You need a dress to fit both occasions.” Elizabeth cut into my thoughts. “I have some dresses in my closet. Rachel and Eliza insisted.” I grumbled. I wasn’t really much of a dress person, even when I was a kid. My mom always wanted me to wear them for parties at the pack house. It was exhausting. My dad was always the one to calm me down and make me see reason. “You’re gonna be Luna one day. A powerful Alpha of Ocean Wood. Wolves will want to see your beauty and your power. You will command respect.” My father had said. Goddess, I miss them. “Good. One of those will suit for your welcome party, but the Luna ceremony is a special occasion. We can talk later about what you want to wear.” Elizabeth suggested. “Okay.” I yawned and tried to cover my mouth. We were only in the afternoon, but I was exhausted. Rex leaned down and kissed the top of my head. “We’ve had a long day. I think we both need a nap before dinner.” I nodded sleepily. “Good idea.” Rex dragged me to my room since my stuff wasn’t moved and shoved me onto the bed. I flopped down with a giggle and crawled under the blankets. “Sorry my mother is dragging you to two different parties. It’s not exactly ideal.” “It’s okay.” I laid my arm across his chest as he got cozy under the blankets. “I knew it was going to be happen. Comes with the territory I guess.” “Listen, with this party on Saturday, there’s something you should know.” Rex reached out and tipped my chin up to look at him. “What is it?” “When I was in high school, I was a dumb kid. I made mistakes and it was before I knew we were mates.” Rex began to explain. What is he talking about? Do I need to be worried? “Rex, what?” I sat up and looked down at him. His shirt was flattened across his chest exposing the lines of his abs. I could feel his fingers run up and down my arm. “I hooked up with this she-wolf in the pack for a few weeks. I felt gross doing it, but I was lonely and stupid. I wanted to tell you because she’s been all over me ever since I became Alpha. She’ll probably be at the party to try again and to get at you.” I raised my brows and stifled a smile. “That’s it?” “You’re not worried?!” Rex’s lips were forming a smile and his body had immediately relaxed. “Why would I be worried? We’re mated and marked. I’ll kick her ass if she tries anything.” I fell back again his chest and pulled him close. “I appreciate you telling me.” Rex kissed the top of my head. “You are not the girl I met the other day. You seem more relaxed and more like the real you. I can’t wait to get to know you.” With that, I closed my eyes and was asleep almost instantly.
